Lapidaria is a typeface that may be described as a ‘geometric sans with humanist qualities’. Its mood is smart and sober, its appeal is calm, cool and classical. Though quite well performing even in longer text bodies, a particular strength of Lapidaria lies in display typography. The most peculiar aspect of Lapidaria is its new family concept: for the very first time ever a tricameral alphabet model has been realized as a general-use sans: uppercase, lowercase and middlecase letters blending smoothly into one typographic tone, thus offering entirely new typographic possibilities. – The middlecase (or uncial) sorts being accommodated in the lowercase positions of the Medior fonts. All nine fonts equally offer full character coverage for all Euro-Latin languages – and for Greek. There are a lots of special characters and ligatures. Last but not least, a set of ten ornament characters (in each font) will let you make sparkling designs which will thrill your clients. Savigny began as an offshoot of Le Havre. Le Havre met my design objective of a geometric sans serif with a strong art deco touch. Le Havre’s primary inspiration came from the art deco titling of the 1930’s, and the lower case was just icing. The art of the 1930’s is of particular interest to me, and I love the art deco era and its art, and the simplicity of geometric shapes. I am mostly interested in designing display typefaces. In many ways Le Havre was the exact opposite of another popular insigne offering, Aviano Sans. Le Havre has very high ascenders, a lower case and is very condensed. Aviano Sans has no lowercase and extremely extended capitals. With the rise of webfonts I began to see Le Havre being used frequently online. It’s short x-height and very tall ascenders made it difficult to read in on screen text settings as it was intended as display type. With this observation, I felt that there is more room for a geometric sans in the insigne catalog. So I set about to design a new geometric sans using the successful skeleton of the Le Havre family. Although I planned to extend the Le Havre line, the new family is so drastically different I decided on a new name: Savigny. The face evolved and began to take on a few humanist touches. Designed from the very beginning as a webfont, the design is open and pleasing to the eye, with a tall x-height. To optimize it for onscreen settings, the spacing is generous. In addition, it includes extended and condensed members, making it insigne’s first superfamily. The family includes over 100 OpenType alternate characters. These include several style sets. Some are stemless, others are purely geometric, and in a nod to Savigny’s origins, Art Deco titling alternates. Please see the informative .pdf brochure to see these features in action. OpenType capable applications such as Quark or the Adobe suite can take full advantage of the automatically replacing ligatures and alternates. A few scant examples of some condensed Roman style water-applied decals inspired Sign Letters JNL. The decals were once part of the gold and black "Signmaker" letters and numbers once manufactured by the Duro Decal Company of Chicago and were sold through hardware and variety stores across the country. The condensed letters (which were eight inches in height) did not sell as well as Duro's mainstay sizes of 1/2 inch to 3-1/2 inches and were discontinued long before the rest of the line was supplanted by self-adhesive lettering.

Page No. 508 was designed by William Hamilton Page in 1887 as one of a series of designs for die-cut wood types for the firm of Page & Setchell of Norwich, Connecticut. Page & Setchell was the successor to The William H. Page Wood Type Company and was sold to the Hamilton Manufacturing Company of Two Rivers, Wisconsin in 1891. 508 is a heavy all-caps font designed for headline work. It has a strong presence that reverses out well (light-colored type on a dark background). Great for retro style posters.

Modern digital typography pushes many designers to try and achieve visual perfection with their lettering. In the days of wooden type, the premise was more in creating a font that "sold" the message (possibly, in part due to the lack of advanced tooling to achieve uniformity). In many styles of wood type (such as the one used as a model for Broadletter JNL), there are vast differences within the character design, weight and symmetry from letter to letter. This is now looked upon as "old fashioned" and "charming" - part of the appeal of this typeface.

Plastilin type family of two weights obtained its name due to the soft, curved, stroke terminals of characters (J, K, L, R and others) and the little pointed serifs, as if extruded from stroke plastic mass. The character set has a lot of additional Latin and Cyrillic ligatures, as well as several alternate letter forms. Plastilin was designed for ParaType by Oleg Karpinsky in 2005. It is for use both in display setting and short text passages. In 2008 the author added two weights (Light and Black) and improved letterforms of some characters.

Culinary is a typographic system inspired by the art of cooking. This family comes with 2 subfamilies: one Regular Family of 4 weights plus a Sans Line font and a set of Borders, and one 4-weight Script Family that also includes Sans Line and Borders. Culinary is well-suited for packaging, restaurant and cafe branding, bakeries, logos, magazines, menus, recipe books, invitations and much more. The OpenType features allow access to a wide set of characters, including ligatures, swashes, endings, initial and terminal forms, and lots of alternates.

Tekton font is based on the hand lettering of West Coast architect Frank Ching, who wrote out the text for his books. It is an Adobe Originals typeface designed by David Siegel in 1989. Tekton is ideal for architectural drawing/design software, to match the feel of the type with the designer�s plans, or to give the page an architectural or informal handwritten flavor. Tekton multiple master, released in 1993, has increased the usefulness of the design by adding weight and width axes and making the font more usable for signage and display work, as well as informal correspondence.

'Obvia' appeared as a result of direct observation on typefaces classified as geometric and the plan to explore for the first time width axes Condensed, Narrow (soon), Normal and new Wide and Expanded. The idea behind 'Obvia's design was to create a distancing from geometrically pure shapes, in this case, square shapes. Then some details were added, such as subtle inktraps, concave endings of the stems and carefully drawn alternate characters, giving a 'geohumanist' tone to the font. This first family of 'Obvia' has 9 weights ranging from Thin to Black, delivering a strong typographic identity, from the paper to the pixel.

Linotype Mhai Thaipe is part of the Take Type Library, chosen from the entries of the Linotype-sponsored International Digital Type Design Contests of 1994 and 1997. The work of German designer Markus Remscheid, the name is not hard to recognize as an English-Asian play on my type and describes its general character. The small circles which ornament the alphabet and the unusual flowing forms which look like a mixture of Arabic and Sanskrit combine to give the typeface an ornamental, exotic look. Linotype Mhai Thaipe is best used for headlines with point sizes of 12 or larger.
