Beware The Neighbors is based on “Personality Script”, a rough alphabet originally drawn by Ross F. George, and published in one of the Speedball series of lettering catalogs that ran from 1935 to 1948. The design is something of a minor classic, and several foundries have recreated digital fonts based on it. However, mostly of these interpretations are very “geometric”, formed using straight lines. Intellecta preferred to create a new interpretation using smoother, curved lines to create a creepy appearance. Also included are several ligatures and OpenType stylistic alternates. This version also has an extended character set for use in Central as well as and West European countries, plus Baltic, Turkish and Romanian. Everybody likes to have a picnic: some fresh fruits, cheese, ham, wine and so on. Like a “typographic picnic,” Typnic font system gathers many fonts with different flavors too, and you can enjoy them mixed or on their own. The name of the font is chosen to suggest its main purpose—setting multiple pages of text. Is it necessary to tell the Gutenberg story? 1456 Gutenberg Pro is the second Gutenberg typeface produced by GLC foundry (look at our 1456 Gutenberg). This font was created from the so called "B42" character set used for the two Gutenberg Latin Bibles (42 and 36 lines), but with a better and finer design than in our first version, more faithful to the finest original printed books appearance. We offer also now a larger choice of the original ligatures and Latin abbreviations, as complete as possible to be usable with OTF specifications. The complete basic alphabet (with "long s" naturally)is strictly looking like the real one (including the curious twisted "X"). We have only recreated the capitals W and J, who was not existing in the time. The numerals, no more existing in the original type set, were inspired from those in use a few years later by early following printers, but matching with the Gutenberg font's pattern. The Three Degrees had a song called 'Dirty Ol' Man'; Christina Aguilera danced around to the tune of 'Dirrrty' and my three kids leave everything that way after they have finished their meals, so I guess I really had no other option than to call this font: Dirrrty. Dirrrty is a brush font I painted in one go. It is quite dynamic, with some serious grunge in it. Dirrrty is all caps, but upper and lower case differ and can be interchanged. Comes with with a truly disgusting amount of diacritics.

Bergamot was inspired by vintage apothecary labels, but this font is actually quite modern in both style and effects. It features all caps plus 2 sets of alternates (so, 4 total variations for each letter). The coolest part… they intermingle randomly as you type! Ok, so it’s not exactly random, but that’s the easiest way to explain what you'll see. The letters are actually coded to rotate with their respective alternates. This effect is both useful or can be purely for fun! Let’s talk about the useful part for a sec… Repeating characters are often a dead giveaway that a font is being used. And sometimes we don't want that, right? We want to give the illusion that our design has been custom hand-lettered for a particular project… and can't be recreated by another. That’s exactly what this font aims to do. The randomizing effect is built into the Contextual Alternates feature and will likely be “on” automatically in your chosen program. Alas, even random doesn't guarantee that like characters won't appear in close proximity. SchmalfetteCP is the result of another collaboration between designers Jason Walcott and Rob King. King suggested that Walcott revive this wonderful and somewhat forgotten sans serif typeface from the mid 1950s. Originally designed by Walter Haettenschweiler in 1954, Schmalfette Grotesk was used for many years in the German magazine "Twen". The typeface was notoriously hard to acquire at the time and graphic designers in the USA often resorted to cutting letters from the Twen magazines and reusing them in their own designs. Later, when digital type came along several typefaces very similar were created that claimed to be digital revivals of Schmalfette Grotesk. However, they are actually only loosely based on the original. The proportions are different and in some cases a lower case was added. The original font was all caps. At Rob King's suggestion, Jason Walcott has strived to recreate the most faithful digital revival possible of the original Schmalfette Grotesk with the new version of SchmalfetteCP. In some cases small changes were made to accommodate today's digital needs (e.g. web fonts), but anyone who has ever searched for this typeface now has a version available that most closely resembles Haettenschweiler's original work. Schmalfette CP comes in OpenType format in both .ttf and .otf files and offers support for all Latin based and Eastern European languages.

The Treasury script waited over 130 years to be digitized, and the Canada Type crew is very proud to have done the honors. And then some. Initially commissioned in the summer of 2009 for a popular North American ice cream parlor chain we cannot name, Tuba started with a reconceptualization of a somewhat flawed '72 alphabet idea by Swiss graphic designer Erwin Poell. During the back-and-forth of the custom project, other ideas seeped into the design, mostly from other Canada Type fonts, like Fab, Jonah, Jojo and Teaspoon. The end result was what the client called a "sugar circuit trigger alphabet". This now is the retail version of that project. Tuba's main style is a straight-forward mix of 60s/70s art nouveau ideas and late-70s/early-80s tube aesthetic. The Highlight and Outline styles are almost necessary spinoffs for this kind of typeface. And the all-caps Black style is a nod to the fat font fad of the past couple of years. All styles contain many alternates – so many that each style is almost two fonts in one. Make sure to check out the character sets for a few nice and useful surprises. Life's too short.
