This is the design that was always on the drawer. I designed it when I was bored of designing other typefaces, there was no briefing, I just wildly played with the bezier tool. It was something to relax from more serious work, so it feels like a very funny and smiling design. Genica mixes various styles creating a display type with lots of personality.

ITC Stenberg was designed by Tagir Safeyev based on the forms characteristic of the Constructivism in the early days of the USSR. The brothers Vladimir and Georgii Stenberg were two of the creative artists of this movement who were turning older forms to revolutionary use. ITC Stenberg has a caps and small caps alphabet and is available in a bold and an inline version.

Glodok is a single-weight display typeface. It is bold, heavy and fun to play around with. It’s eye catching but also blends well when in use. It is retro-inspired and strikes a nice balance between formal and playful. The name itself comes from the oldest Chinatown in Jakarta that is also considered the biggest in Indonesia, the place from where the designer took many inspirations.

Boshi is inspired by classic video games, but it can do more than that. Saturday morning cartoons, comic books and other logos that need to express fun are other ways this font can be used. It also includes several Tiki-style interlocking ligatures. I began my work on Emona while still struggling with Birka. I took the superellyptic form as the basic shape, and that gives the typeface some of its characteristics. It is strictly vertical. It is easy to classify it in the same section as Bodoni & Company. Emona is what Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia, was called in the Roman days. Emona was released in 1992.

When creating the font, I was inspired by the various names of musical groups and sci-fi movies. Stars is a decorative font, that consists of 52 ornamental stars, placed on the letters a-z and A-Z. The building principle is based on the segment of a circle. All the individual stars have the same width and are aligned to the same center. Therefore layering different stars on top of each other in a design program that allows transparencies is a interesting possibility.

FeggoliteMono is a decorative, monospaced typeface family with a small x-height and long descenders. Two styles (plain and bold but renamed in 2020 as light and regular) were created in 1994 and revised in 2010. In 2020 a bolder bold was added along with italics versions for each of the three weights. The design was an attempt to create a decorative typewriter font.

Schreibmeister is my interpretation of Arno Drescher’s design for Ludwig Wagner, Leipzig, completed in 1958. The letters X and x were improved as well as some ligatures. The letter E has an alternative, and the small d comes with two alternatives, of which one form can be reached by typing the partial different key. Generally it is recommended to activate both Standard and Discretionary ligatures.

Inspired by mosaic lettering by Heins & LaFarge, architects of the IRT (Interborough Rapid Transit) in New York City. Bedford hints at the station names on platform walls which date back to 1904 but modernize it through a rigid grid system and rounded corners. The family consists of two styles, Bitmap for web usage with a perfect pixel snap, and Rounded for a softer and bolder look.

Champloo is very unique typeface which combines serif features and brush stroke. Some letters have serif, but some don’t. Serif to be found on left side of stem only. It gives a quirky impression on short text. However the larger the text become, the more consistent look it gets as a whole. These two versatile weights let you play with the typeface freely and beautifully.

Little is known of the origin of these decorative Initial Caps. Series 448 at 24 point were a different design from the 36 point on which this digital version is based. In addition to the basic 26 characters, there is a negative version contained in the lower case position and a fill character (for two color caps) option in the number and punctuation key positions.
