When I was painting this font, I suddenly had the movie Cool Runnings (1993, directed by Jon Turteltaub) in my head. I had to name the font, so I came up with Smooth Brushings. Of course, this font has nothing to do with the movie. Smooth Brushings is an all caps brush font, which was made with a stiff brush and some China Ink. Upper and lower case glyphs can be mixed. It is a very legible and clear font, ideally suited for posters, product packaging and book covers.

Thomas Oldfield’s typeface, Reaper, is reminiscent of inscribed Greek letterforms but he claims that its origin is much simpler than that. “I recall”, Tom says, “that I just began the design by making the uppercase ‘I’ and continued using it to make up the other characters.” The cap only typeface has alternate cap forms in the lowercase positions, including a vastly scaled downed O and Q that make for some unusual text settings. Contrary to what the name might have you believe, there’s a lot of life in this quirky typeface.

Boondock is another Imre Reiner design resurrected from the ashes of hot metal type for digital use. This wild paint font is a revival of the fascinating Bazaar brush type from 1956. Boondock has some very unique characters that combine to form a statement of casual but loud strength, seriousness and raw primal emotion. The compendium Alphabete: ein Schriftaltas von A bis Z listed the pattern for this family of faces under the name Chicago which, owing to the number of other faces using the same name, makes its origins difficult to ascertain. Nonetheless, its soft lines and round forms have a timeless appeal makes this family an excellent choice for both headlines and text use. Both versions of this font include the complete Latin 1252, Central European 1250 and Turkish 1254 character sets, along with localization for Lithuanian, Moldovan, Romanian and Turkish.

Relato has a low contrast and “a muscular” structure that makes it useful for setting longer text. In display sizes it has a variety of details that lends it a unique and personal expression. The formal principle of the serif, the variety of terminal strokes and the combination of curves and semi-straight lines gives the Relato a more “human” flavor. The inspiration for the design comes from different traditional calligraphic styles. The upper case letter, for example, is based on roman capitals from the Rennaissance, whereas the lower case relates to humanist handwriting. Inspired by a set of vintage alphabet game tile pieces, Newark JNL has similar traits to other slab serif Romans, but enough 'quirky' letter widths to break the rules and have it stand out on its own merits. The name derives from font work files in progress, often saved as 'new work' until a fitting name is decided upon. It seemed only right that this phrase be turned around into a font name itself. Newark JNL is available in both regular and oblique versions.

Himawari means ‘Sunflower’ in Japanese. It was raining while I worked on this font, so I needly something to cheer me up - like bright yellow sunflowers! Himawari Script is a nice and neat handmade font, which was (more or less) inspired by an older font of mine, called mama Bear and, like the font it was modeled on, was made with a bamboo pen and Chinese ink. Himawari Script comes with some swashes and a cute smiling sunflower (just enable Stylistic Alternates and hit *).

Around 2018 or 2019, the State of Florida introduced new letter and number characters on its auto plates. Inspired by this change, Jeff Levine Fonts offers up a digital version of this lettering named New Car Tag JNL, which is available in both regular and oblique versions (for those who want a more sporty look). Some people prefer a rounded 'zero' to differentiate between the regular zero and the letter 'O'. You can find this alternate character located on both the solid bar and broken bar glyphs.

Gritty heat-forge stamped metally goodness. Can withstand up to 255 pounds of pressure psi, it even says so right on the graphic. This is a fun display font inspired by the stamped text on barbells, sewer drains, and of course boiler-plates, not that we see many of those anymore, but I digress... This font contains all the standard sub-255 unicode characters, plus a few extras for flavor. Apply this font with liberal amounts of axle grease and she should last ya a lifetime.

Bielik was created for a comic book that I’m working on. Main goal was to achieve random character of texts, so I made three glyphs for every letter, even for diacritics. Firstly I was drawing using brush pen with ink, so thickness of letters was really various. I decided to implement this style into a font. So that is how Bielik came into the world. This is good choice for comic books, children books, display designs and much more. Bielik is a polish word for Haliaeetus albicilla.

Cirkel is a contemporary font family based on circles. Its geometrical and unusual forms gives us a nice feel of modernity and humor. Created by Jarbas Gomes, Cirkel family is composed by 3 weights (Light, Medium & Bold) and its respective ornamented fonts made of patterns (Stripes Light, Stripes Medium & Stripes Bold). The fonts also have a great set of ligatures and swashes that can be accessed in softwares with support to OpenType features. Cirkel is indicated for hype designs, on titles and short texts.

Abakadabra is a headline typeface inspired by sans-serifs of the first half of the twentieth century, as well as by the tricks of fakirs, illusionists and charmers. Kia ora is a M?ori-language greeting which is used as an informal greeting, equivalent to "hi" or "hello", or an expression of thanks. The koru (M?ori for loop or coil) is a spiral shape based on the appearance of a new unfurling frond. It is an integral symbol in M?ori art, carving and tattooing, where it symbolises new life, growth, strength and peace. Its shape conveys the idea of perpetual movement, while the inner coil suggests returning to the point of origin.

This script font was inspired by a few manuscripts and letters written by French representatives or ministers after the defeat of Napoleon at Waterloo. It is an attempt to offer a typical handwritten script from this period.
