High Fidelity is our funky new variable font that was inspired by an incredible vintage poster we saw at the NYPL (sadly, the designer wasn't credited.) First we developed the ultra wide top-heavy style. Then, unable to resist the dynamics of variable type, we added the narrow width and violà our first variable font was born. We then added "drip" and "stretch" axes so you can play around and customize it to your heart's content. We think it works for anything from album covers, posters, social media, apparel - really anywhere you need a fun, expressive look.

Linotype Dropink, from German designer Christine Voigts, is part of the TakeType Library, chosen from the entries of the Linotype-sponsored International Digital Type Design Contest 1999 for inclusion on the TakeType 3 CD. A spirited font, Linotype Dropink may remind you of your first attempts with a broad-tipped pen or of schoolwork in days of yore. However, the blots of ink are in this case done on purpose, are indeed the highlight of the font, large and small, round and irregularly sheped. Linotype Dropink is intended exclusively for headlines/display and should be used in point sizes of 18 or larger.

Mello is a bold, easy going Grotesque. It was designed for display, branding, advertising, packaging or anywhere a strong but friendly voice is needed. Mello features soft curves and rounded corners; set in 4 widths and 8 weights. The character set is robust, covering extended Latin. The default forms are contemporary with alternates including: single-story a, two-story g, rounded top A, traditional G, rounded leg R, rounded K, and rounded form y in both uppercase and lowercase, all separated into individual style sets for control and customization. A set of icons rounds out the character set, with hand signs and shapes.

Originally drawn in 1999 as a college project with the ambition to make the ‘most beautiful’ alphabet in the world. After these heroic beginnings Spaghetti lay dormant in the VLNL vaults for many years, appearing to silently peter away. Now look at it! Ten years hence, it is finally being served up in glorious OpenType, precisely al dente. As automated special sauce, each lowercase character before or after a space receives a nice little ball ending to round things off. And finally, the parmesan cheese sprinkled on top is like a tasty bunch of ligatures – enough to make your mouth water.

Malina (raspberry) is a plump, sweet-tempered display typeface. It comes in one style that includes small caps, ligatures, and ornaments. The face “speaks” several languages. Malina works wonders in titles and bite-size text nuggets. On top of the regular set of characters, the typeface hosts with ease a duck and fox, owl and crocodile, mammoth and pig. They’re irresistible when used by one or in bunches forming patterns. This humanistic sans serif distinguishes itself by its Japanese calligraphy influence. Being written with a felt tip rather than with a brush, its Japanese connotation is remote and non-dominant, thus providing excellent readability and a charm of its own. Parametra is a very elegant and modern typeface achieved by the strong form reduction of the individual characters and at the same time harmonizing them by given parameters. It is something of its own, but quite legible and well-suited for small text. Also, Parametra and Bohemian can be mixed perfectly since their proportions and dimensions are the same.

Linotype Irish Text is part of the Take Type Library, chosen from the contestants of Linotype’s International Digital Type Design Contests of 1994 and 1997. German artist Torsten Weisheit designed this font based on Irish scripts of the 5th century. Characteristic of this style is the mixture of upper case letters in the mostly lower case alphabet and vice versa. The letters look as though written with a broad tipped pen and have triangular serifs, displaying a decorative tendency akin to that of Irish calligraphy. Linotype Irish Text is intended exclusivley for headlines in large point sizes.

This tag font includes full alphabets of uppercase & lowercase letters giving 2 distinct looks as well as interesting substitutions. Street Artist is clean and consistent without sacrificing style. Alles Kaputt means ‘everything’s broken’ in German. I always wonder why my stuff breaks so easily, especially my mobile phones (I have had 7 in the last two years). Maybe I am careless, but I believe that there is a more or less scientific explanation that chaos and destruction are far easier than harmony and creation. I am no scientist, so don’t take my word for it! Alles Kaputt is a nice script font. I made it with a felt tip pen I borrowed from the kids. Use it for texts on product packaging, book covers and websites. Or, whatever you fancy!

VLNL Gaufre is a pixel-based font with holes designed by Donald Roos. Each character is built on a grid of doughnut-like elements, which makes it look like a kind of dried dog food, or Belgian waffles. Despite the grid Gaufre still has enough warmth due to the doughy, slightly rounded corners. And because it’s prepared with a hot waffle iron of course. The end result is a merry, chunky typeface that smells of doughnut. Use it for logos or headlines, just add butter and sugar or, better still, top it with whipped cream and cherries. Yummie!

Linotype Merlin is part of the Take Type Library, which features the winners of Linotype’s International Digital Type Design Contest from 1994 to 1997. This font was designed by Anne Boskamp and its alphabet consists exclusively of capital letters. At the same time aggressive and sensitive, Merlin looks as though it were scratched onto paper with a pen tip saturated with ink. Like characters from another time, the letters fall into place and make an impression which is both vulnerable and strong, lively and reserved. Merlin’s historical roots lie in the archaic pictograms in the caves of Stone Age civilizations.

Eric Stevens's latest typeface, ITC Lintball, combines two unusual features: its letterforms are based on the serifless lettering inscribed in stone by the ancient Greeks, yet the wobbly edges of the strokes, and especially the slightly wider “lintballs” on the ends, suggest lettering done on paper with a modern felt-tip pen. The ball motif is carried through in the fat dot under the raised capital O, and in the similar dot used in place of a crossbar in the capital A. There's an angularity to many of the strokes, especially in the lowercase, that gives Lintball its distinctive character.

The "Nostalgia" font is a dark, vintage style that includes all the basic characters (letters, numbers, and punctuation) and is very simple to read. "Nostalgia" was inspired by inky handwriting with a natural flow and has fantastic starting and ending lowercase swashes. It works well for a wide range of projects, from wedding stationery to Instagram quotes to contemporary logos to packaging to websites. Consequently, these top-notch, traditionally-styled hand-drawn characters would be an excellent and priceless resource for those who want to write by hand. Ermou is a display monospace font. The typeface has a distinct geometry using sharp angled corners as a tribute to writing and carvings of Ancient Greece. The name is derived from Ermou Street (Οδός Ερμού) or “Street of Hermes” named after the Ancient Greek messenger God and "the bringer of good luck" Hermes (Ἑρμῆς). The famous street was one of the first roads designed in modern Athens, Greece. Today Ermou is Athens’ commercial heart and top ten most expensive retail streets in the world. Ermou is great for team sports, display work, invitations, writing, architecture, fashion, posters, titles and headings.

Channel B was derived from the logo for Channel B, a British entertainment internet channel, anchored by former Soccer AM presenter Tim Lovejoy at www.dailymotion.com/channelbee. I’m not sure what it was in 2008 when I first ran across the logo, but that elegant capital B seemed to cry out for a font to support it. Many of the capitals, numbers and other glyphs of Channel B are split into a top and bottom, but not all. The tall, condensed capitals are contrasted to the rounded lowercase (derived from the bottom half of the B, rotated 180°).

Centim is contemporary sans with sharp top endings of stems that give a bit technical charm to typeface. With a squarish look, it can be used widely in all modern publications or become a part of an corporate identity. In smaller sizes, Centim offers good readability due to its simple and good balanced lines. Centim is available in Regular and Bold weights, as an ideal high-contrasted combination where all characteristics of the typeface are purely effective. Centim is the archaic Serbian word for Centimeter, a word that was mostly used in tailoring during XIX and XX century.

My handwriting with a speedmarker turned into a font - well, not really, to be honest! Personally I did do all the writing of letters, but in order for the letters to fit perfectly together, I manipulated them - just a tad! But the result is a hasty set of letters! When I say I wrote all the letters, I mean it literally!!! All letters are unique, meaning all the accented characters are unique! On top of that, Laxory comes with ligatures for both double lowercase letters and numbers! You will need to use OpenType supporting applications to use the autoligatures.

Peter Schoeffer was a printer who was apprenticed to Gutenburg and after leaving Gutenburg in 1455 he set up shop with Facob Fust. His son, Peter the Younger, moved to Mainz and carried on the trade. This particular font is based on a typeface of Peter the Younger that was cut circa 1509-1520. This font has over 900 characters. While there are only about 80 in the historical exemplar the rest have been developed for modern usage. This font is based on Typ.7:146/148G also known as Gesellschaft für Typenkunde plate no. 258.

We just had the Eurovision Song Contest here in Holland. I quite like to watch it, as it is usually a freak show of kitsch, political incorrectness and often really bad music. But it is a laugh and this year was no different. It inspired me to create this particular font with this particular name. Sing Along is a happy, wobbly, kitschy font that comes with a bit of ‘over-the-topness’, a few personality issues and an unsteady gait. Needless to say, it is politically incorrect, but that, my friends, is not necessarily a bad thing.

Greetings. Introducing our new font "Monabelia". The elegant playfully font which made with a combination of sans serif and brush script style. Almost all of the letters have sans serif taste at the top and script taste at the bottom of the shapes, also the tails/flourishing. Tioga is a highly legible typeface designed specifically to display clearly on low-resolution displays. Alias Vertical is a sans serif typeface with a vertical cut-off point for letter endings. The vertical cut-offs bend round characters (b, c, o, etc) into a squarish, high-shouldered shape, suggesting Roger Excoffon’s Antique Olive. In mid-weights, the typeface mixes Antique Olive with typefaces such as Gill or Johnston, for example the shape of the t, the l borrowing Johnston’s flick. Vertical has the same minimal difference in weight between verticals and horizontals as Gill and Johnston, and the same sharp connection point where curves meet straight lines. Like Antique Olive, Vertical has a narrow connection point here, adding contrast and definition. The overall effect feels austere at lighter weights and strident and graphic at bolder weights, and sharp and incised throughout. In the Bold and Black weights, the squarish and top heavy shape of Antique Olive is most noticeable. For example the wide uppercase, with the B having almost-even width between top and bottom curves, and the almost-overhang of the top curve of the G. But Vertical does not have as extreme an aesthetic or square shape as Antique Olive. As well as its wide design, the upper case is given extra authority by being a slightly heavier weight than the lower case. This is a device borrowed from Gill, and other ‘old’ typefaces, where the upper case is presented as a titling design. Modern sensibilities are more focussed on an even colour between upper and lower case. Vertical was originally intended as a sister typeface to Ano, like AnoAngular or AnoStencil. Vertical developed into a similar but separate design. Ano was designed for use in Another Man — in its modular, circle-base design, and the way there aren’t the amendments usually made in bolder weights to ensure letter clarity. This is for layouts where different weights are used together in different sizes so that the overall letter weight is the same, a feature of the magazine. Where Ano is simple and graphic, Vertical has nuance and texture. It is a pragmatic, utility design. In the balance between graphic and typographic, its focus is the latter.

A clean and easy-to-read Aurebesh font, inspired by writing in the Star Wars (TM) movies and at Disney's Hollywood Studios (TM). Includes special characters for CH, AE, EO, KH, NG, OO, SH, and TH. When teaching font-making at the Art Institute of Tucson, I give my students plenty of lab time to come up with design ideas. I designed Pucky while one class created their fonts. It came about through an idea for a capital A: sort of a triangle with two round sides and a crossbar formed by a circle falling out. (You can see it here.) In drawing that, I hit upon the idea of making the tops of the alphabet sharp and square and the bottoms rounded. (See the whole alphabet here.) Pucky suggests both circus and psychedelia. Hmmmm, does anybody have an “in” at Cirque du Soleil?

MetroBots is a fun loving, non-traditional but very functional family of 6 fonts made of big city skies, the long tropical morning shadows of ancient ziggurats and entire pueblo villages, nestled into the steep cliff-sides of sage-topped mesas in south western deserts.
