The design idea for this condensed sans serif stencil font was inspired by a post-World War II brass stencil spotted in an online auction. Samhain is a Gaelic festival marking the end of the harvest season and the beginning of winter. There is no set date, but normally it is held around the end of October and beginning of November. Samhain font was made with a bamboo pen and Chinese ink on rough paper - hence the grungy look.
