Ciribiribin is an Italian ballad composed by Alberto Pestalozza in 1898. Many versions with different sets of lyrics have been recorded over the years. The hand lettering on the sheet music for one such popular version of the song was comprised of bold characters with a "semi-serif" treatment; that is, characters with partial or no serifs on certain strokes of the letters. The Xavier family of typefaces is based on the delightful deco typeface called Ashley Crawford, originally designed in 1930 by Ashley Havinden. After designing Xavier Black (Serif) and Xavier Sans Black, I added Bold Sans, Medium and Medium Sans and finally added lowercase to the medium weights. Although more manageable than Ashley Crawford, Xavier, due to its very playful nature (splayed A, M, etc.) needs to be used with care, especially in terms of spacing. Xavier is a playful typeface and I have been particularly pleased to see it used in children's books.

Monster Truck is a dominant looking bold italic font inspired by extreme sports. The 'in your face' presence of this font is ideal for use in designs looking to snatch people's attention especially in serious competitive sports, fitness, bodybuilding, toys and car wrap designs. The non-apologetic sharp edged spoiler like serifs, straight edges and bevel corners have made this one of the foundry's most popular fonts. When designing a font, I often imagine how I think it should be used or where I'd be likely to see it out in the real world. With Barataria I envisioned it on decorative, antique-looking signs hanging outside shops in the French Quarter of New Orleans - hence the name. Barataria is based on samples of 1920s period poster lettering. It's a bold, heavy roman font with strong, rounded character forms. Barataria also has some unique alternative character forms, like the super-looped 'g' shown in the sample.

This variation in the Tangential series (see also the Standard & Rounded families) continues with the angles that give the typeface its name, however a semi-serif is applied wherever appropriate to create a more open, softer variant. The Tangential style I envisaged for the family is complemented by the prominent use of negative space throughout, most apparent on the drop shaped ‘o’ which is a key feature of the typeface and a letterform I'm particularly pleased with. Available in 2 weights, Regular & Bold, in both OpenType OTF & TrueType TTF formats.

When 45 RPM records were the norm for a teenager’s music collection in the 1950s and 1960s, many discs had their labels printed by letterpress. Some record companies utilized a bold, condensed typeface set in all caps for the song’s title and other pertinent information. The digital version of this font is called Recording Artist JNL, and is available in both regular and oblique versions. A companion font loosely based on this type design [but with more original characters and a slightly lighter weight] is Promotional Copy JNL.

Saki is big and bold, presenting messages in an easy to understand, pleasant to read manner. Simple straight edges, shallow curves and sans-serif, Saki was created with legibility and minimalism in mind and its thick weight gives it great scalability. It is admirable for maintaining such close attention to form, each character fitting neatly into the space provided and slotting together smoothly for undistracted reading. For use in headlines and similar large text, Saki is the font you need to get your message across loud and clear, no ifs, ands or buts.

In few words, Monodia is a small but widely applicable slab serif (nearly monoweight) font family with only two weight and one cut effect version. To those who agree with the fact that less is actually more, three fonts should be sufficient for branding, headlines and other display uses. With that reason regular and bold weights are designed with huge contrast. In order to avoid clogging of certain (especially Cyrillic) letters in the text, some serifs are atypically modified or allowed. Unlike uppercase letters and numbers, lowercase letters don’t have forked serifs. Еnjoy!

Sir Richard Henry Bonnycastle (1791–1847) was an English officer and military engineer who served in the War of 1812 and ultimately settled in Canada. I stumbled upon copies of some of his charts and maps, became infatuated with the hand-lettered titles—and the result is the eponymous Bonnycastle. The font has a bold weight and an italic style but is intended as an eye-catching standalone, evocative of its period in history. Use as a titling face on branding materials, event posters, book covers, presentation graphics, historical illustrations, and the like.

A calligraphic alphabet in bold/light brushstrokes Actually, a typeface like this one should be written with a wide brush; this one was written with a thick, pointed brush. Thus were created the round or misshapen ends of the stems, and the sometimes excessively pointed ends of the hairlines. For each character of KLEX, the large brush was dipped in the ink anew. Using this method, the forms turned out very soft, in spite of their geometrical rigidity. The individual characters are heavy, simple, and monumental, so that they are also suitable as initials.

Originally designed by American type designer Morris Fuller Benton in 1933, Agency Gothic is a wonderful, narrow, squarish art deco typeface. I was commissioned by Publish magazine to create digital versions of Agency Gothic Open and Agency Gothic Condensed for a redesign in 1990. Since then, I have added four other styles. Agency Gothic CT is uppercase only and supports most European languages that use the Latin or Cyrillic alphabets. The Agency Gothic CT family is available in six weights/styles: Light, Medium, Bold, Condensed, Inline, and Open.

BachelorScript is the preliminary design for GraduateScript, released in june 2013. You can clearly see the resemblance between the two, but while Bachelor is frisky and authentic, Graduate is more polished and staged. GraduateOrnaments was originally designed to complement GraduateScript, but it can be used just as well in combination with BachelorScript. BachelorScript has a casual look and feel and comes in two weights: regular and bold. It offers multiple language support, five numeral styles, real fractions and ligatures for double letters. This family was inspired from a lot of 1848-1850 French engraved documents reproducing handwritten texts talking about the Paris' insurrection days in June 1848 (described by Victor Hugo in Les misérables) . It seems that all were first written using quill pens, as the strokes are too much heavy and bold for metal pens and even though the engraver work is very fine. We have added only a few characters, most of them were present in the originals. The TTF and OTF versions are enriched with more than 50 ligatures or alternate characters.
