The Revla family just keeps expanding! This is Revla Slab. It has the same exuberant charm as its siblings ( Revla Sans and Revla Serif ) with a touch more chunk. OpenType contextual alternates make for text that is lively and bouncy, without the monotony of obviously repeating letterforms. It’s shamelessly fun, but pretty serious at the same time. The range of weights can be used to maintain an even colour across different sizes - use lighter weights for bigger sizes and vice versa. OpenType features include automatic fractions, ordinals, contextual alternates (which along with the pseudo-randomness, help maintain a nice tight fit with minimal glyph collisions), standard and discretionary ligatures (OK, only one discretionary ligature, but it’s a belter!), and case-sensitve forms. Kewl is the result of being caught in the afterimage of one design project while conceptualizing another one. Just before finishing the final tests on Mrs Blackfort, the first of what became a long series of Charles Bluemlein fonts, some of the letters began morphing differently in my mind. The idea was to go on the heavier and more playful side, but with a South American sign letterer’s twist, rather than just good handwriting. I did some sketching, took some notes, then got busy with other projects. Some of that stuff eventually seeped into Candy Script and, to a lesser extent, the Whomp font. But it was only a matter of time before I got back to the original concept and finished it. Kewl is ideal for food packaging, book and music covers, magazines, and window splashes. Mezalia is a one of a kind typeface. Its shapes were strongly influenced by bastarda scripts of high medieval times. Unlike most fonts sharing similar origin, Mezalia is not just another blackletter but a fully functional text typeface, blending medieval poise and character with modern sensibilities. Stroke widths, imitating a broad nibbed pen of a scribe, fluctuate constantly giving paragraphs a characteristic vibrating texture. Despite it's strong character Mezalia is very legible and will be an excellent choice for a book or an elegant magazine. Mezalia has two distinct styles: straight and cursive (true italic if you will, although the word is not really correct here), which come in seven weights, from thin to black. Each weight contains a set of old-style figures, lining figures, small caps and ligatures. A separate style containing drop-cap initials is also available.

Gutter Pigeon is not your every-day Ransom-kind-of-font! The prices of making it was really simple: I only used my phone and computer. I took pictures of letter from newspapers, magazines, bookcovers, candybars, movieposters, roadsigns, etc. In the beginning, It was easy to find new letters. But as I had the initial letters, it became quite a search for the missing letters. Not a hard job, you may think - but this font has 8 different versions of each letter! That's 26 lowercase glyphs and 26 uppercase glyphs...8 times! That's more than 400 glyphs! And on top of that comes numbers and punctuation! Go crazy with Gutter Pigeon! Actually, that is not very hard, because the font automatically cycles through the 8 different versions of each letter while you type! Upper- and lowercase in a wild mix!

"País" is a contemporary and modern grotesque sans serif, inspired by the grotesques of the early 20th century, but more geometric and with a wider x-height than its referents; making it ideal for the current times. "País" comes in 2 versions, each with 9 weights, from thin to black, and matching italics, for a total of 36 fonts. The standard sans serif version is fresh, clean, and more ideally neutral. It's a perfect choice for editorial design, branding, headlines, or any other piece of graphic design. The "País Alt" version has more expressive and modern characters, with some giving it a much more playful image. It is ideal for logos, packaging, web and television use. País contains a total of 682 characters that make it possible to write in more than 200 Latin languages ​​and basic Cyrillic.

The typefaces Largo Mager (Light) and Largo Halbfett (Medium) were cast for the first time in 1937 by Ludwig & Mayer based on the designs by Hans Wagner. One weight Largo Licht (Outline) was added in 1956. All fonts were only configured with capitals. The digital version of Largo has pointed serifs and not the slightly rounded ones seen in the hot metal versions which gives the typeface a more elegant note. Largo is often used for fine printing jobs as business cards or formal invitations, or in the fashion and cosmetics fields. Hans Wagner was born in Munich in 1894 and died in 1977 in Altenburg where he had worked as a painter, graphic designer and book designer. In addition to the Largo typeface, he developed, among others, the Altenburger Gotisch (1928), the Welt-Antiqua (1931-1934) and the Wolfram (1930).

Designed by the renowned Robert Hunter Middleton of Chicago’s Ludlow Typograph Company, this “serifless roman” was first introduced in 1929. Middleton has created a transitional face linking the traditional thick and thin serifs of the times with the new Futura and Kabel design imports. With its slightly flared main strokes, Stellar predates in many respects Hermann Zapf's Optima by thirty years. Highly effective where an elegant and warm feeling is desired. This typeface is faithful to the original letterforms of the Stellar design. Stellar Classic is also available in the OpenType Std format. Some new characters have been added as stylistic alternates in this new version. Stylistic alternates and other advanced features currently work in Adobe Creative Suite InDesign, Creative Suite Illustrator, and Quark XPress 7. Check for OpenType advanced feature support in other applications as it gradually becomes available with upgrades.

We popped the Doohickey into the Framistat and out popped this Whatchamacallit! Is it fat? is it thin? Is it tall? Is it short? Is it light? Is it heavy? Is it condensed?! is it expanded?! Yes, yes, yes and yes -- It’s all of the above and more! Our resident mad scientist John “Mr. Fontastic” Roshell has developed a single contraption that can handle any design emergency, from crimelords to supervillain team-ups to alien invasions. Whatchamacallit is a friendly and readable sans-serif, inspired by some of our all-time favorites -- Gill Sans, Futura, Venus and Antique Olive. But, like its machinery-contraption namesakes Doohickey and Framistat, Whatchamacallit has a lively personality -- the strokes are a little wavy, the ends a bit bulbous, and the circles are like little loaves of bread, rising in the Whatchamacallit's oven... delicious!

The Baksheesh family comes in three weights with accompanying italics and small caps. The catalyst for the development of the typeface came from the desire to create a contemporary family of constructed letterforms built upon a flexible system. The aesthetic of the font is influenced by the characters drawn by Wim Crouwel in 1976 for Olivetti’s typewriter font that could support varying character widths, hence Baksheesh’s faux-monospace appearance. Each of the characters has been designed according to an intricate grid, helping to rationalise the letterforms into a system that can be translated across the various styles. The flexibility of the grid also allows for optical adjustments to be made, for example stroke thinning at junctions and baseline/x-height overshoot for enhanced definition throughout. Baksheesh is suitable for setting small amounts of text as a distinguishable and legible headline font.

Village was originally designed by Frederic Goudy in 1903 for Kuppenheimer & Company for advertising use, but it was decided it would be too expensive to cast. It was later adopted as the house face for Goudy's Village Press. The design was very much influenced by William Morris's 'Golden' type. Paul Hunt began working on a digital version of Frederic Goudy's Village type prior coming to P22 in 2006 for an internship (which evolved into a staff designer position at P22.) Around this time, The Tampa Book Arts Studio was looking for a digital version of Village to complement with a letterpress edition of a book called "The Rich Mouse" by JJ Lankes. Many years later the Rich Mouse project has been completed, so we decided to release the Village type on the same day as the release of the Rich Mouse Book!

Wakandan is an alphabet designed by Hannah Beachler, and used in the 2018 film Black Panther. It is based on Nsibidi symbols. In the film it is used to transliterate English text in the credits and other on-screen text. Another script used in the film was developed by Oluwaseun Osewa and inspired by Nsibidi, a system of symbols used in southeastern Nigeria between about 400 and 1400 AD. In addition, the symbols of several different ancient languages ​​were also used for the alphabet. Like Old North Arabia, Old Tifinagh. I did not draw for this font, except for a few letters. I transferred the sound values ​​from the ancient writing languages ​​fonts that I had made before to the Wakanda font, so I did not take much time, I finished it in 4-5 hours.

We produce original printing press letter fonts, for example from the journal Southern Literary Messenger (circa 1830 - 1870). The only one in the world. Opinion varies regarding the role of Claude Garamond (ca. 1480–1561) in the development of the Old Face font Garamond. What is accepted is the influence this font had on other typeface developments from the time of its creation to the present. Garamond, or Garamont, is related to the alphabet of Claude Garamond (1480-1561) as well as to the work of Jean Jannon (1580–1635 or 1658), much of which was attributed to Garamond. In comparison to the earlier Italian font forms, Garamond has finer serifs and a generally more elegant image. The Garamond of Jean Jannon was introduced at the Paris World’s Fair in 1900 as Original Garamond, whereafter many font foundries began to cast similar types. Morris F. Benton’s Garamond appeared in 1936 and is based on the forms of Jean Jannon, which already displayed characteristics of the Transitional style.

Pipeline is a futuristic and technical looking typeface. But as the name suggest it’s also earthly, (literally). Deep down underneath villages, city’s everywhere and even oceans there’s a network of pipelines. Providing us all sorts of supplies, like water and oil. Sewers wash fluid waste away. They are never to be looked upon as pretty or beautiful but purely functional. The soil peeled off and looked upon from above, a greater industrial infrastructure is revealed, cluttered like spaghetti, complex as the maze of corridors of termite colonies. I present two pipelines to you; one naked and one dressed. This typeface is very suitable for graphic, logo and poster design. It is quadratic shaped with round curves. It is modern and classic at the same time. It could be appealing for young, technical, digital, inventive and urban (sub) culture (at any age).

Buddies, designed by Guille Vizzari, is a script font that was initially born as a piece of lettering. It is the result of an experiment between brush pen and pencil, and in this way, Buddies takes the imprint of the brush, the freshness of sign painting, and some (or a lot) of quirks by the author. The font at times enjoys dancing in titles and short lines of text, pouring rhythm and movements through its lowercase various x-height sets. This steam era typeface, created by Gustav Schroeder in 1884, found popular use on soap box labels and tobacco tins during its initial release. Then, later, a successful and stout revival of Gustav's face, named Othello, was carried out by Morris Fuller Benton in 1934, and the typeface's appeal widened to include items such as broadside posters featuring Boris Karloff's Frankenstein. After metal gave way to film type, Gustav's creation experienced a brief fashion moment in the 1960's, but then disappeared entirely, never re-surfacing as a full digital typeface. Kevin Simpson was five years old when the stylized "E" of the Electrolux vacuum cleaner logo caught his eye. This is his earliest recollection of an interest that ultimately became an obsession. Type remains his major preoccupation, and he admits to attempting to work a good typeface design into any project where he can get away with it. Aitos was inspired by a metal sculpture Simpson saw while driving through the French countryside. "The statue was very strong. It was heavily weathered and had obviously been there for some time, yet it also seemed very delicate and light." Aitos, like the statue, is a rugged design. At first glance, it is chunky and bold, perhaps a little jarring. If you look again, however, you'll see it has refined qualities. Aitos commands attention - yet is still affable.

Dorset marks Léon Hugues first script typeface and first release with the Positype Flourish label. Built crosscurrent to a strict revival or calligraphic digitization, Dorset’s aim was to understand how a font could interact with various calligraphic influences in a single execution and how that interpretation by Léon would lead to new, exclusive design choices. The design purposely chose to connect various gestures from Spencerian handwriting and copperplate calligraphy and meld that with his initial experiments with fine, flat nibs. The result is wholly unique and useful when clear, open, and legible script typography is desired. OpenType features included in this typeface allow the user to seamlessly move from an italic to connected script, while the various stylistic sets can lead you to variations of texture and rhythm, allowing for a more personal and exact expression.

Somewhat extravagant and yet quite useful? Yes, absolutely. Meet Salted family: two awesome styles and a way cool picture font. Deliberately free-spirited, Salted – the Regular, yet regular is not quite an appropriate adjective for it – brings alternates and also discretionary ligatures that completely transform the font mood, adding unexpected touches of cursive script here and there and thus creating sort of a wild feel. Salted Sweet also brings alternates: 3 for letters, 2 for digits, and is way more even-tempered than it’s playmate. By the way, they play truly nice together. The design of Kristall Grotesk is based on a cut by Wagner & Schmidt, Leipzig, from the 30s of the last century. The basis for the digital version of the Stiftung Werkstattmuseum für Druckkunst , Leipzig was the standard font (28p) of the manual cuts as offered by the font foundry Johannes Wagner, Ingolstadt. The implementation was deliberately created as a replica to create a faithful reproduction as a starting point for the design of other design sizes. The present Kristall Grotesk is therefore a headline design. This typeface is an attempt to offer as a font the well known marvelous Hans Holbein “Death Alphabet”, first published in 1523. We have tried to preserve as much as possible the spirit and appearance of the original Initials set — incredibly fine and enriched with detailed figures — trying at the same time to create a font not too complex to be usable. Neverteless, the font files are large, and when used, the decorated initials may appear on screen more slowly than ordinary characters. (Minimum size recommended : 96 pts) We are offering here two complete standard sets (no accented characters) : Initials and capitals. We have reconstructed the missing letters : J and U, Eth, Lslash, Thorn and Oslash. The font may be used with all our Humane and Garalde fonts, like 1543 Humane Jenson or 1592 GLC Garamond and others from the GLC foundry catalog.
