ITC Portago was designed by Luis Siquot, who admits to a tendency toward unusual typefaces that can be read in text yet also work well in display settings. ITC Portago is a robust alphabet of caps and slightly smaller caps. It is a stencil face, based on the lettering on crates and luggage. Siquot says that his intention drawing Portago was to obtain a neutral, classical, very condensed grotesque stencil shape that is readable in text sizes, showing at the same time the 'movement' produced by the nicked edges. One of those magazines turned out to be about fashion. When I opened it on a random page, I saw beautiful pictures. But you know what the first thing that catches my eye? The font! The font in which the headline or quote is written. After you read it, you look at everything else. And I wondered what my font would be in this case. Luke is a contemporary adaptation of historic English Blackletter, inspired by the creativity of leading English type-creator: Caslon Foundry. At home we have a wood stove. Last year, I bought a whole bunch of tree trunks, which I cut up with a chainsaw and then chopped with my Swedish axe. In Holland we have a saying that firewood keeps you warm three times: when you cut the tree, when you chop the wood and when you burn it in the stove. Our stove is rather small, so it is not exactly a blazing furnace, but I liked the name because it seems to fit this font. Blazing Furnace was made with ink and a brush. It is a bit messy and rough, but it comes with multilingual support and a nice set of alternates for the lower case letters.

Arboria has been a long-term project. Starting with the commission of a custom ‘architect’ font, this typeface has been changing over the years to its current form, which is its public debut. The source is named after the capital of planet Mongo, a futuristic city with art decó influences in their buildings. Arboria maintains that tension but is influenced by all elements of concern to his author. The result is a hybrid Grotesque with nods to the XXII century. Arboria family consists of six weights and matching italics, aside from many characters (it covers Latin and CE languages), the wide range OpenType features allows Arboria to perform great as a text and as a display typeface. Honesty was the first font published by the Studio in 2020. It was a typeface with flared stems. 2 years later, we are now publishing Honesty Sans. It is inspired by the original design but is revisited as a sans serif this time. Bourgeois Rounded is built upon the framework of Bourgeois, our popular geometric type family. As with the sans-serif Bourgeois Rounded letterforms are contemporary in look and feel. Think of Garamouche as Garamond's drunken cousin. This font replicates a long lost document ravaged by time and the elements (with a little sloppy printing for good measure.) Unlike the fake bolding option found in software programs, Garamouche Bold is a variant with more appropriate thick and thin features. Ghimli Sans was created using the ping-pong method, based on the graphic idea of Artem Rulev and the participation of Vladimir Anosov after. Then we sent the font file to each other, adding something of our own and making corrections, and so on many times. Ghimli Sans has already managed to get 2nd place in the Granshan competition in the Cyrillic section. The name was obtained by combining the name of the dwarf Gimli and Studio Ghibli. The font is quite friendly, dense, kind, as if a dwarf is walking around the lawn with a mug of intoxicated ale on a pleasant sunny day. Suitable for short word design, logo creation, menu layout and use in movies about gnomes and anything fantastic.

Years ago, I developed an interest in the Japanese art of dwarfed potted trees, bonsai. I bought some books on the subject from Brooklyn Botanic Garden. In one -- Handbook on Bonsai: Special Techniques (seventh printing, February 1976) -- the type was bad. Old worn lead type, I suspect, spread wide in the tops of characters and disappearing on the bottoms. Two decades later, I came across my Brooklyn Botanic Garden collection and was struck again by this interesting type. Inspired, I made a typeface. Didn't take me long to decide on a name for it, either: a name with a double-meaning, based both on its look and its inspiration. Bonsai, the typeface, has two styles, a roman and a true italic.

Compact sans, ideal for setting long texts in small or very small type sizes: for packaging, instruction booklets, drug information leaflets and anything else that has to be legible at very small sizes. Lean and rhythmical, designed ideally to be used at less than 8 points (Brevier was the old typefounders’ name for 8-point type), Brevier holds up well even under adverse printing conditions. The apparently geometric letterforms hide Renaissance characteristics, the x-height and openings are very generous and the strokes slightly modulated. In order to offset ink spread – which is inevitable when printing very small sizes of type – Brevier has large white spaces between the letters. All internal angles have deep ink traps and many connections have been left open.

Linotype Sangue is part of the Take Type Library, selected from the contestants of Linotype’s International Digital Type Design Contests of 1994 and 1997. This prize-winning font was designed by the German artist Gabriele Laubinger. The most distinguishing characteristic of Linotype Sangue is the contrast between the wide, rounded capital letters and the tall, narrow and pointed lower case. Another factor which makes this font so unique is the way Laubinger worked with stroke contrasts, using heavy strokes in the top third of the characters and diminishing to extremely light strokes at the bottom. Linotype Sangue makes a mysterious, secretive impression. It is best used for headlines and displays and shorters texts with point sizes of 12 and larger.

PF DaVinci Script Pro is based on DaVinci’s own handwriting. He is considered to be one of the greatest painters of all time and perhaps the most diversely talented person ever to have lived. This great Italian artist left us with a unique writing (used to write from right to left), which we attempted to decode and simplify with PF Da Vinci Script Pro. A reminder of the days of flower power, Satron is quite a bit different, slightly hippy and slightly grungy. Although it is not in any way an attempt to emulate the fonts used in that era, it evokes the mood of the time. There's two different shapes making up each character, with a grungy black one in front of a hippy white one. The combined effect however is quite novel and modern. There's also a jumbled version with the letters rotated and whacked around, in case you want it funky-flavored. There's all the main characters plus lots of extra accented letters as well. The package contains both OTF and TTF versions - install either OTF or TTF, not both versions on the same machine.

Garnet is a rare TT typewriter face, made digital from analog samples gathered with great care by Coniglio Type. A time and place; type and life. I'm happy to present my Stormy Youth font. It has been drawn with a marker pen and a swift hand. Analogia is a digital interpretation of types used in the mid-18th century in books printed at Leuven by Martin van Overbeke. It is intended primarily for use in running text. The roman is businesslike, yet with a distinct personality; it has a generous x-height and is slightly condensed, though without appearing cramped. It is complemented by a more lively italic, which retains some irregularities in the angle of slant that are characteristic of the original. Analogia provides wide support for west, central, and east European languages that use the roman alphabet.
