Based on lettering from Eric Gill for the British bookseller WH Smith, Colins Banks made the Gill Facia family for Monotype in 1996. Constructed only with straight lines, Maest is an unusual script typeface. The straight lines give the letters a striking visual effect, specially in small sizes. One good pun is worth a simple description… Nondescript JNL… 'Non' - not. 'de' - of, in Spanish. script - a cursive (handwritten) letter form. So… while nondescript generally means lacking any defining description, in this case it also means "not of a script"… which is precisely what a typeface such as this one is!

Londrina is formerly known as Folk. The Londrina family originally had four typefaces: Solid, Shadow, Outline and Sketches. The idea is to combine the main typeface Solid with the others, experiencing different outlines. Now Londrina has three new weights: Thin, Book and Black, growing the family to work with the Solid version.

A hand lettered Art Deco ‘stencil’ design used in various ads for “Holiday” and other Pathé films was found in the July 22, 1930 issue of “The Film Daily”. Similar in style to Futura Black and other like designs, it is now available as Deco Holiday JNL in both regular and oblique versions.

A slightly offbeat latin typestyle, Screwby started as a digitization of a film typeface called Surf by Lettergraphics. From there, this wonderful typeface was expanded into a giant family of fun widths and weights to play with: from spindly thin and light weights, to chunky bold and blacks. An all-around fantastic treat!

Two word examples (“nice” and “bud”) from the J.G. Cooley & Co.’s Specimens of Wood Type catalog for the typeface ‘Roman Triple Extra Condensed Fifty Line’ offered only seven letters to work with. Displace Serif is a continuation of my Displace fonts. Adding serifs allows you to see the font in a new way. There is a more pronounced charm of Italian monumental fonts, but in an expressive way. The appearance of the serifs allowed the font to move to the antiqua class, but this is purely a formal matter. The proportion of serifs changes markedly from weight to weight, allowing the font to retain its decorative character. In the Light drawing the serifs are barely visible and delicate, while in the Black they are in superposition. The font is catchy, noticeable, which makes it suitable for graphics requiring instantaneous spectator emotions. Displace Serif is suitable for editorial design, as despite the modern image it retains the classic concept.
