Kewl is the result of being caught in the afterimage of one design project while conceptualizing another one. Just before finishing the final tests on Mrs Blackfort, the first of what became a long series of Charles Bluemlein fonts, some of the letters began morphing differently in my mind. The idea was to go on the heavier and more playful side, but with a South American sign letterer’s twist, rather than just good handwriting. I did some sketching, took some notes, then got busy with other projects. Some of that stuff eventually seeped into Candy Script and, to a lesser extent, the Whomp font. But it was only a matter of time before I got back to the original concept and finished it. Kewl is ideal for food packaging, book and music covers, magazines, and window splashes. Being a geometric sanserif ocr-t comes in eleven weights from ultrawhite to infrablack (brightwhite, white, silver, lightgrey, grey, darkgrey, anthracite, black, jetblack). With more than 600 glyphs it covers all your typographic needs and manages to stay at the same place no matter which width you’re using. Its readability and legibility is more than fine although it needs no kerning. The infrablack is really black, in order to achieve this, the form of letters change from darkgrey to anthracite from upright to some kind of upright italic. This also gives opportunity to mix two weights with same colour but different architecture. This typeface design was influenced by the British Rail corporate type introduced in an old lettering instruction book published in Japan. Of course, the only clue to this typeface is the lettering instruction book at hand. Therefore, this typeface is based on the British Rail corporate type introduced in an old lettering instruction book published in Japan, and I have expanded the design variations. I started with the Bold design first. Then I designed Light, Regular, and Black in that order. Light and Regular are intended to be used as the text type, while Bold and Black are intended to be used as the base for logotypes, headlines, and other eye-catchers.

The typeface family Triump is a simple sans serif with 6 weights from Thin, ideal for use as an epigraph, to Black for head titles of special impact. Excellent for applying in graphic design as logos, trademarks, posters, editorial and web design. Inspired by the classic types of the late twentieth century with rounded corners that give the typography a smooth appearance with rounded ends, with a horizontal stroke that exceeds the vertical in the letters A, E, F, H, J and K which gives a distinct personality. Triump comes with a Black weight in normal and italic Line both upper and lowercase letters, especially to give a vintage look to the designs.

Singolare is a contemporary geometric Sans Serif with angular terminals and a great x height. Its main feature is the style difference between the lighter and heavier weights. The more weight it gains, the higher its singularity. With its weights, styles and layers variety, it's perfect for display use and short texts that require a visual impact. Singolare is composed by five weights, from Ultralight to Black. Every weight has its own stencil variation with expressive cuts and four decorative versions: three outline and one inline version, that can work on it’s own or overlapped to the black normal version (changing the colors of each layer) in order to amplify its usage possibilities.

New Lincoln Gothic is an elegant sanserif, generous in width and x-height. There are twelve weights ranging from Hairline to UltraBold and an italic for each weight. At the stroke ends are gentle flares, and some of the round characters possess an interesting and distinctive asymmetry. The character set supports Central Europe, and there are three figure sets, extended fractions, superior and inferior numbers, and a few alternates, all accessible via OpenType features. Back in 1965, Thomas Lincoln had an idea for a new sanserif typeface, a homage of sorts, to ancient Roman artisans. The Trajan Column in Rome, erected in 113 AD, has an inscription that is considered to be the basis for western European lettering. Lincoln admired these beautiful letterforms and so, being inspired, he set out to design a new sanserif typeface based on the proportions and subtleties of the letters found in the Trajan Inscription. Lincoln accomplished what he set out to do by creating Lincoln Gothic. The typeface consisted only of capital letters. Lincoln intentionally omitted a lowercase to keep true his reference to the Trajan Inscription, which contains only magiscule specimens. The design won him the first Visual Graphics Corporation (VGC) National Typeface Competition in 1965. The legendary Herb Lubalin even used it to design a promotional poster! All this was back in the day when typositor film strips and photo type were all the rage in setting headlines. Fast forward now to the next millennium. Thomas Lincoln has had a long, illustrious career as a graphic designer. Still, he has one project that feels incomplete; Lincoln Gothic does not have a lowercase. It is the need to finish the design that drives Lincoln to resurrect his prize winning design and create its digital incarnation. Thus, New Lincoln Gothic was born. Lacking the original drawings, Lincoln had to locate some old typositor strips in order to get started. He had them scanned and imported the data into Freehand where he refined the shapes and sketched out a lowercase. He then imported that data into Fontographer, where he worked the glyphs again and refined the spacing, and started generating additional weights and italics. His enthusiasm went unchecked and he created 14 weights! It was about that time that Lincoln contacted Bitstream about publishing the family. Lincoln worked with Bitstream to narrow down the family (only to twelve weights), interpolate the various weights using three masters, and extend the character set to support CE and some alternate figure sets. Bitstream handled the hinting and all production details and built the final CFF OpenType fonts using FontLab Studio 5.

It should not, however, be set so tight that its serifs touch, as this will erode legibility and impair readability. A benefit to Rockwell’s slab serifs, however, is that the design combines beautifully with both sans serif typefaces and a variety of serif designs. Marons is my first font release of 2020. I created Marons from the initial sketch to the digital process and until it was released it took less than 2 months after I launched Black Quality. Marons is an elegant font that I combined from script and serif fonts, thus creating a unique and bold impression. The original provided almost all of the key character shapes, with the others being designed to keep the unique hand painted feel intact. Most of the letters have alternate versions provided. Roadkill Alternates provides curved versions of the 2 and the S, a G with higher crossbar, and less worn versions of several other characters. The Quandor Family began as a digitization of a film typeface from LetterGraphics known simply as "Impacta". The original specimen included standard Capitals and Lowercase, as well as a Biform character set. We've fleshed out the original style and added an Oblique to the family, but we just couldn't leave it alone at that, and beefed it up to include an Ultra Black and Ultra Black Oblique style as well, because uber heavyweight font styles are the bees knees.
