The name FeggoliteHatched comes from the fact that it was created with the help of an old font manipulation program called Incubator Pro. In the early days of PostScript fonts, I designed a font of leaves called XLeafMeAlone. In 2006 I decided to revisit this topic and the result was two sets of new leaf fonts: MapleOaks and MoreLeaves. MapleOaks contains almost 100 images of maple, oak, and sycamore leaves, and MoreLeaves has almost 100 images of leaves of various other species. There are four MapleOak fonts. The original design came from Berthold Herold typeface, designed by Hermann Hoffmann during 1913 (Art Nouveau style) in Germany. This project started from flyer printed during 1947 with movable type, the specimen was scanned as a source to development some of the uppercase letterforms. However the most unusual and tricky element from this sample is the leg from the uppercase (R) which is different from the original Herold design, until now I didn’t found where this version originally came from. This expanded version only contain the bold weight, however there are also stencil (Nouveau LX Stencil) and condensed version (Nouveau LX) available.

Since I have my new logotype people are asking me about the typeface it is based on. But it did not exist and I did not believe that it would actually work. I still love my logotype and so I went on to try to make it work as a font. After many different versions and some doubts I am glad to present Jocham. It is the first typeface with my name. For an obvious reason. There is only one weight with an italic. I tried different weight, but they were all not as strong as the final.

The Butterfly Ball and the Grasshopper's Feast is a 70's concept album/rock opera by Deep Purple's Roger Glover. The music video to Love Is All, featuring a lute playing frog in a cape, must be one of the best videos ever made. At least, I believe so. When working on this font, the song popped up in my head (it is still there), so I decided to name this cute, cartoonish font after the album. Butterfly Ball is a fun and happy typeface with rounded glyphs and an uneven baseline. Of course it comes with a hallucinatory range of diacritics.
