Hazel is the work of British designer Phill Grimshaw. It is an all capital typeface with friendly, scratchy strokes ornamented with a whimsical, free-flowing embellishment. Hazel should be set slightly wider than usual letter and word spacing and will lend any headline or display both naturalness and elegance.

RFX elegant is an elegant bolder typeface that looks modern and defies previous conventions. Is it a serif typeface? Yes and no. Although it doesn't actually have serifs, the curves give it the elegance of serifs. The curves make it look pleasing and friendly, but the breaks still give it a strong character. I was asked by a good friend of mine to design his tattoo lettering. This fellow prefered an easy stencil with no ornament, such as swirls or loops. After some preliminary design I finally accepted the challenge and while completing the whole alphabet, the idea of creating a cool font of it occured to me. Only a few months later this new font family already contained 4 weights, every weight has a companion Italic style, punctuation, numerals and mathematical operators, as well as all accented characters. Erdogan Karayel, a master in graphic arts and a cartoon artist, has long dreamed of transforming characters made up of his own handwriting into fonts. Palatino Sans Arabic is a collaboration between Lebanese designer Nadine Chahine and Prof. Hermann Zapf. The design is a low-contrast companion to the award winning Palatino Arabic and comes in both regular and bold weights. It is designed for use in print in both large and small sizes, and brings into Arabic the informal and friendly appearance of Palatino Sans. The counters are wide open to allow for better readability in small sizes as well as to maintain an open and friendly appearance. The font has 1091 glyphs and includes a large number of extra ligatures and stylistic alternates as well as the basic Latin part of Palatino Sans and support for Arabic, Persian, and Urdu. It also includes proportional and tabular numerals for the supported languages.

While there can be similar handwriting styles out there, no two handwritings are exactly the same. I like to think that I have the same handwriting style as my father, but I had never seen him write with lowercase letters, only in all capitals, except when signing his name on something in cursive. I recently came across a letter my father had written long ago to a friend. It was returned to sender, yet he kept it intact. The letter primarily thanked his friend for his hospitality when my father unexpectedly dropped in for a visit while traveling. I was so taken by the handwriting, that I decided to make it into a font, not only to remember my father, but also to forever preserve his handwriting. Generous Hospitality not only taps into the character of the person the letter was written to, it also reflects the personality of my father. If you are looking for a masculine handwriting type style for your designs, I think this font could be a nice fit.

Sultania is a harmonic synthesis of the old characters’ suppleness and the resolute, clean design of modern typography. It was expected that Joluvian’s third type font would be inspired by the city where he currently resides: Madrid, Spain. His previous creations had originated in Venezuela (Zulia) and The Philippines (Salamat), both, places where he had once lived. Joluvian believes “now is the time to pay tribute and show gratitude towards a city that has bestowed me with so many fortunes.” He considers that Madrid’s people, streets, scents, flavor and sounds are gift enough to awaken the creative urgency in any artist. This time around, it is being expressed through the crafts of the Typographic industry. Since his arrival in Spain, Joluvian has been attached to the city’s central area, specifically to the renowned Atocha Street and its railroad station. It was precisely on that street that Joluvian and Mauco Sosa, his friend and partner, decided to establish the Patera Studio: a charming creative space that birthed the concept for this new font which they proudly named Atocha Script. The artists where still in the final phases of their previous script, Salamat, when the idea for Atocha came about. This dynamic is actually very typical of the artistic process, in which every finished product spawns the need to create its next level offspring. “Working on Atocha and Atocha Caps has been a very pleasant journey. We have given our best efforts, for we wanted to offer a typeface that was both versatile and user-friendly on a number of applications, showing a wide scope of alternatives in our glyphs,” says the artist. The illustrations were created by Mauco, to ensure visual integration that would showcase the work of both members of the Patera Studio and their complementing aesthetic voices.  Atocha, as Salamat and Zulia before, was digitized by Alejandro Paul.

Pokerface is an industrious mixed-case display font devised on the theme of playing cards, designed by Jim Ford. Most letterforms in the font have 'four of a kind' while some are only available in pairs. It features Clarendon-style slab serif and grotesque sans serif forms. Ranger Rays Rocketeers SRF was originally a freeware font on Jeff Levine's old site, but needed a lot of reworking and cleanup to be user-friendly. Jeff did all of the fixes and provided this charming retro-style font of space-age dingbats to the Stella Roberts Fonts project. The net profits from my font sales help defer medical expenses for my siblings, who both suffer with Cystic Fibrosis and diabetes. Thank you.
