MetroBots is a fun loving, non-traditional but very functional family of 6 fonts made of big city skies, the long tropical morning shadows of ancient ziggurats and entire pueblo villages, nestled into the steep cliff-sides of sage-topped mesas in south western deserts. This is a good solid, but kind of whacky looking display type family borrowing from the heft of good old-fashioned children�s wooden building blocks and the look and feel of both modern and ancient pueblo architecture. With a bit of the not-so-subtle expressiveness of a comical robot on a WD-40 high on the side.

Celebrate good times with Zega Grot family! This font is the companion of Zega Text but less “serious” than its predecessor. The Grot version has old vertical proportions, with higher capitals and asc-descenders, height difference between capitals and ascenders, beyond the redesign of various glyphs, giving a less formal tone, more rounded and cheerful. The family consists of 14 styles, 7 weights plus their respective italic versions. The fonts are available in OpenType PS and have extended character set to support CE, Baltic, Turkish as well as Western European languages. As a late work the “Meier Kapitalis” forms an arch within the typographic creations of the Swiss type designer Hans Meier who died in 2014. The first sketches of this typeface can be found in the teaching manual “The Development of Script and Type” (German: “Die Schriftentwicklung”; French “Le développement des caractères”) which was published in 1994, however, under the title “Roman Lapidary, 1st Century”. The booklet was first published by the Syntax Press, Cham, Switzerland and contains an introduction by Max Caflisch in which he writes: „The present work, „The Development of Script and Type“ is a concise, authoritative textbook, concentrating on the essentials in a wide survey from ancient Greek inscriptions to the printer’s typefaces of the present day. His (Meier’s) 72 varieties of letterforms enable the student or general reader to understand the history of script and type, while more than 60 of his own calligraphic specimens provide excellent models for all who practice this art.“ Unfortunately, the “Meier Kapitalis” is one of the few typeface families in this publication which has been digitized. It was to be the last type project fully realized by Meier. In cooperation with Elsner+Flake, the typeface family was developed and expanded and now contains the four cuts: Roman, Medium, Demi Bold and Bold with either a complement of characters for 78 Latin-based languages (EL=EuropaPlus) or in West-Layout.

I've been obsessed with type since I was very young, says designer Pelle Piano. “In fact, when I was ten, I used to sneak into stores who sold Letraset sheets, and I actually stole their catalog with all the typefaces. They were perfect good-night stories for me - alphabet after alphabet!” In ITC Lingo, Piano tried out the effect of taking a very rigid underlying letter shape and representing it with “really sloppy outlines.” The underlying form is a condensed Bodoni-like alphabet, with high contrast between thick and thin strokes, but the effect of Lingo is sketchy and informal.

Flashes is a striking display font based on Enric Crous-Vidal's design from 1953. Unger redesigned the font based on artwork from old font books, and extended the character set to cover not only standard Western but also the Central European character set. It has been a tremendous amount of meticulous work to digitize and edit all the flashes!

Developed by Andrea Tartarelli as an extension to Calvino typefamily, Marcovaldo is a heavy condensed wedge serif, optimized for display design. Plastic Display JNL was sketched from photo examples in an old sales promotion sheet for the Movitex Do-It-Yourself Plastic Sign Kit. The set was manufactured by Pryor Marking Products of Chicago, and featured a board with pre-spaced holes in a grid to which the letters and numbers would be inserted to form the sign.

WIP Grand Ma depicts the handwriting of an old woman, representing the kindness and reliability that we appreciate of our grandma. The (lower case) characters are joined as it is usual in German speaking countries. Originally designed in 1995 the font has been extended by a lot of new characters such as accented characters, punctuation, symbols and currency symbols.

The Englishman William Caslon (1672–1766) first cut his typeface Caslon in 1725. His major influences were the Dutch designers Christoffel van Dijcks and Dirck Voskens. The Caslon font was long known as the script of kings, although on the other side of the political spectrum, the Americans used it as well for their Declaration of Independence. The characteristics of the earlier Renaissance typefaces are only barely detectable. The serifs are finer and the axis of the curvature is almost or completely vertical. The overall impression which Caslon makes is serious, elegant and linear. Next to Baskerville, Caslon is known as the embodiment of the English Baroque-Antiqua and has gone through numerous new interpretations, meaning that every Caslon is slightly different. American Type Founders presented a Caslon in 1905 which is true to the forms of the original. This font is relatively wide and comes complete with small caps and old style figures.

Linotype Punkt, from US designer Mischa Leiner, is part of the TakeType Library, chosen from the entries of the Linotype-sponsored International Digital Type Design Contest 1999 for inclusion on the TakeType 3 CD. This font, from US designer Mischa Leiner is available in three weights, light, regular and bold. The basic forms are those of a robust sans serif, however the figures are composed of evenly placed dots, hence the name Punkt, the German word for dot. This distinguishing characteristic lets this font look as though it appears on a background of light. One other unique trait of this font is the nature of the three weights. The figures of each weight have exactly the same measurements, the same width, breadth, etc. The only variable measurements are those of the individual dots making up the forms, making the bold weight much darker than the light while retaining the same outer contours. Linotype Punkt should be used in larger point sizes, as when it is too small the dots blur together and rob the font of its 'light'. The font is therefore best for headlines in large and very large point sizes.

Dragonflight Pro is a script collection of four modern calligraphy fonts. Each glyph was hand-drawn with a brass folded pen dipped in ink. The tip of the folded pen resembles the shape of a dragonfly’s wing, hence the name. By tilting the pen variations in line width are made.
