From today's point of view Katarine has a rather unusual origin. Initially an all-caps display face, what was to become the Medium weight of the family was augmented with a lower case, then the character set was completed by adding all the missing glyphs. The next step was the creation of the Light and the Bold weights with matching Italics. This working method compromised the relationships between the characters across the different weights After some consideration the decision was made to start over and draw the complete family from scratch. This time the "conventional" process was followed — first the Light and Bold weights were designed. Those extremes were used to interpolate the Regular, Medium and Semibold weights. When compared to the original, the glyphs of the new fonts are slightly wider. The construction of the letters is sturdy, with an x-height that varies from the heaviest to the lightest weights. The relationship of the stem weight between the horizontal and vertical strokes is carefully balanced. Characters are open and firm; the italics have room to breathe. The original fonts included two sets of small caps — Small Caps and Petite Caps. However neither set were suited for emphasis, with the Small Caps being too tall and the Petite Caps too short. We decided to replace them both with one set of traditional small caps, slightly taller than the x-height, perfectly suited for emphasis in text usage. The original version of Katarine was partly incorporated into the new OpenType versions. Thus most of the original arrows, frames and boxes can be found in the new Katarine. Each individual weight now contains 830 glyphs, nine sets of numerals, small caps, numerous ligatures and fractions. An additional font named Numbers contains numerals in circles and squares, and is now augmented with accented caps and a number of terminal alternatives, which can easily be accessed through stylistic sets. We also added two extra variants, Experts Regular and Experts Black (in inverted form). Katarine Std preserves the solid construction and excellent legibility of the original family, but has now become a fully featured OpenType typeface. Katarine is suited for a broad range of applications, from simple layouts to intricate corporate systems. It is the typeface of choice where the cold, austere character of modern sans serifs are inappropriate, yet simple shapes and good legibility are required.

FREIBEUTER NR is a typical Western font but this is based on a FAMOUS Motorcycle Club from the television that everyone knows. The word FREIBEUTER is the German version of pirate. Genesee JNL is a medium-bold sans serif inspired by the letter shapes of Jeff Levine's Paper Stencil JNL, and named for the river valley that traverses Rochester, New York.

Eckhardt Signwork JNL was inspired by visual images collected by two great nostalgia sites: www.forgotten-ny.com and www.norelevance.com. The vintage signage photographed and saved for posterity on both sites reflect an age when hand-crafted work was the rule, rather than the exception [as is today]. Although somewhat limited in scope, this font can best be used for retro or nostalgic embellishments in ads or design work. MVB Fantabular proves that monospaced faces needn’t be formal or bland. Inspired by the letterforms of older typewriters, Akemi Aoki designed a playful family of three weights with italics. With every character the same width MVB Fantabular works wherever a monospaced font is needed, but the face is so loose and carefree it hides its fixed pitch construction well, allowing it to be used in other settings too. Street Tag vol1 is inspired from graffiti tag in urban areas in Jakarta, i also draw graffiti, tag and throw up since high school. This is originally my style, inspired from some my favourite graffiti artist, my tag style is not so tidy and i think you guys should adjust the kerning manually again, because it’s impossible to adjust them to be tidy. In the city of Millbrae (just South of San Francisco in San Mateo County, California) stands an office building which formerly housed the Millbrae Theater. California has the distinction of preserving artifacts of its past, unlike many other portions of the US, and the perpendicular "Millbrae" sign with its neon tubes and Art Deco lettering is still attached to the renovated structure. Gene Gable (a friend of type designer Jeff Levine) took a photo of the sign and sent it along as simply an image of great lettering of the past to enjoy, but it triggered the inspiration to create the namesake font Millbrae JNL.

The history of this font is those. Once I assorted the old children's books which have stayed from times of my childhood. On one of them I have seen a trade mark of a printing house consisting of two Russian letters "L" and "B". From they were begun also with my font. And though finally from these letters a little that remained, elements of these letters can be seen in font D-block B.

As you can see, Nefertiti is a font based on ancient Egyptian hieroglyphs and could be classified as a fun-font. I've always been really interested in Egyptology and a couple of years ago I thought it would be great to be able to write in hieroglyphs. I started to study them but soon realized it would take me a long time to be able to do this. Still, I was determined to find a way around this problem. At some point I came up with the idea of rearranging and reforming the hieroglyphs so as to resemble the English alphabet. During this process I tried as much as possible to preserve their ethos and appearance. However, since they are designed to write in English with, it's obvious that they are not always going to look like the real thing. Despite this, I'm really happy with the final result and I think many Pharaohphiles who just want to have some fun will be also. The only difference in this font between lower and upper case characters, is that the latter are set between two parallel, horizontal lines. These are for use with brackets (motif ends) to form cartouches - elongated ovals for names and/or titles. Try typing the following using the upper case in the sample text box. e.g. (JOHN} The zigzagged vertical lines at each end, separate the motifs from the hieroglyphs. Note the three types of ends/brackets. These lines are also used to separated words from one another and to give a more authentic appearance. So pressing the space bar gives a zigzagged line - not a space. They can also be used at any point within a cartouche to separate first and last names or titles. e.g. ; (JOHN;BROWN} walked straight home after work. Notice the eye glyph (period/full stop) at the end of the sentence.
