Mayonez is a typeface with rational structure and axis but softened with rounded contours and cupped serifs, getting as result a balance between seriousness and friendliness. The shapes have a soft appearance but without lacking definition. A more fluid structure influenced by calligraphy is proposed for the italic variants, in this case the uppercase letters adopted a simplified semiserif structure that works better with the lowercase letters. Also the figures are very different from the roman version and follow more faithfully the italic style. In an attempt to give Cyrillic lowercase romans a fresh look, symmetrical serifs inherited from the versal tendency are mostly avoided thus getting simpler structures closer to the latin forms. This type is good for commercial and editorial uses like advertising, packaging and pages with showy headlines where a warm touch wants to be given. The character set includes a group of figures and currency symbols with standard height and another suited to match better with lowercase letters. Mayonez was selected to be part of the Communication Arts Typography annual in 2015.

For much of the world, the last half of December encompasses the beginning of winter and the a season of gift-giving, marked by Hanukkah and Christmas. It is generally accepted that the tradition of giving of gifts at this time was begun by The Three Wisemen. As described in The Gospel According to Matthew, the wisemen, led by a star from a distant land to the east, found the baby Jesus. First, they worshipped him and then, "they presented him with gifts: gold, frankincense and myrrh." (Matthew 2:11). Thus began the tradition of celebrating the birth of Christ with the giving of gifts. There is a parallel tradition in the Jewish faith of the giving of gelt or gold at Hanakkuh to help support poor students, in keeping with the rich history of scholarship that is fundamental to the rabbinic system. Inevitably, in our secular culture, there has been a blending and a secularization of these traditions. The reasons have gotton lost in the “gimme.” What is often overlooked is what Paul realized when he told Timothy, “Neglect not the gift that is in thee.” The most importent gift is the gift inside of us, the gift of sacrificial love for others. When we let that gift be diminished in our minds amid the clutter of modern day material seeking, we can recall the prophesy of Micah over 2800 years ago, But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel: whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting." Kongress is a typeface that includes all that is needed for building a proper corporate identity. The design relies on the use of straight lines and a squarish structure for the characters, which provides the text with a compact appearance. This feature helps to save space when required by the typographic composition. The design is also defined by wide counterforms and clean cuts for the strokes. All of this helps the shapes to adapt better to digital environments. Nevertheless, Kongress is not another techno typeface. The slight modulation of the strokes—especially in the italic letterforms—and the large apertures for most characters result in what we will call a techno-humanist style. The squarish structure of a techno-font blends with the calligraphic modulation of a humanist sans serif typeface.

Just before the end of 2020 all schools in Holland closed for the second time, because of an increase in the number of COVID 19 cases. This means that my wife and I have to educate our three kids at home. The kids are great and take their tasks seriously, but it is difficult, as all three of them require different educational levels. I am sure you parents understand. Trying to get some work done is virtually impossible, so my wife and I made a schedule and we live by ‘on duty’ and ‘off duty’ days. I was thinking of this when I created this font (obviously on an ‘off duty’ day). Home Education is a handwritten scribble font. It was made with a Sharpie pen (possibly used by one of my kids, because I noticed tiny ink stains on my wooden dining table…). It comes with all the diacritics you can hope for and lovely double letter ligatures for you to play with.

Local Brewery is a vintage inspired font collection that includes six script styles and two sans serif styles. Script styles include a ripple edged, smooth or rough version. This typeface was designed as the house style by and for design studio Mysterian. It was drafted and completed during most of 2020. The intention of the design of the forms was to develop a unique signification in the mind, but one that could have potential relevant associations such as with sci-fi. The solution, brought along with a fascination with this rarely seen pattern in type, was to taper round forms. The name 'Multipolar' was inspired by the term used by game theorist Daniel Schmachtenberger, which is a kind of event that seemed relevant to the Covid-period in which the font was made. Wisdom Teeth is the fifth typeface released by DM Founts. It's a modern and personal take on the original Baby Teeth font by Milton Glaser, and inspired by the lettering used for the Pac-Man series of games (and its clones). This typeface was around 25 years in the making, and was made in response to the large number of hideously bad clones of Baby Teeth circulating around the Internet. Version 1.0 Included in Version 1.0 are a number of accent characters, and alternate characters for A and Y, along with the usual ASCII characters. For the time being this is an all caps typeface.
