Lightbox 21 is a radical update of my previous version of a geometric sans serif. The design of the original Lightbox was fundamentally based on the idea of incorporating the proportions of the ‘Golden Ratio’ into each letterform; Lightbox 21 greatly improves on this concept by entirely abandoning it. The result is a much more readable, ‘natural’ typeface that retains elements of the original without being bound to it. Overall, Lightbox 21 has been designed to convey that classic feel of a geometric sans that makes the genre so tremendously enduring and versatile, as well as providing an effortless sense of class to whatever they are applied. Primarily intended for editorial work (i.e. short to medium length texts) or display settings, Lightbox 21 has a reasonably extensive character set, including support for Vietnamese, many currency symbols, arrows, and small caps. It also has OpenType support for nut fractions (via a stylistic set) and a barred alternate uppercase i and an alternate curled j.

So the lumber was cheap - just a pile of offcuts - and so was the carpenter… And you couldn't say he was exactly lazy, but he was certainly efficient… mostly he would just cut a couple of planks to size, slice off a corner now and then, once in a blue moon hash up a curve… I guess he didn't have a drill, cos there are no holes… and he sure as hell didn't have a ruler… But he did have some kind of an eye, and until it falls off the wall it'll look pretty OK… Ply comes in six styles, offering differing degrees of neatness and adorned or not with fixings… There are money-saving packages too… It’s uppercase only, with variations between upper and lower case, and OpenType types can switch on Stylistic Set 1 to take the effort out of keeping things varied…

Mi negra is a funny and hilarious typography designed especially for children, thought and created by Isabel de Gregorio. It could be described as an original combination between a semi-handwright and semi sans-serif font. Thanks to its structure and nice endings "Mi Negra" is recommended for composing short texts (logotypes, packing, posters, etc.). It may similarly be used for illustrations and comics, as well as in printing press works for children from 6 to 13 years old for instance. Mi Negra has been conceived to be a useful support in all kinds of illustrations works (please note that Isabel, the type designer, considers herself primarily an illustrator). The font designer of Mi Negra tells that every time she needed to provide some text data (i.e. in children infographies) and needed to make them more understandable and suitable for children, she used this typography. The former idea was than to create a font who could be a second option to comic sans, but as the project started to reveal its forms, it was clear that it was revealing another connotation and its own character. In this way, Mi Negra went on modifying its forms and the more it developed, the more it was showing its new characteristics and concepts. The family is composed of three weighs: Light, regular and black. It provides also interesting functional ligatures. It also includes a dingbat with nice doggies. It has 434 characters and can work with 208 languages.

Cinta Adhesiva began as a typeface designed for the masthead of a graffiti fanzine called Free Copy. The monumental letters painted by L.A.-based graffiti writers Crae and Hael greatly influenced the feel of the typeface. The availability and ease-of-use of tape as a medium to write with is apparent on a multitude of surfaces, and this approach led to the creation of Cinta Adhesiva.

A long time ago, I lived and worked in the English Lake District. When I first arrived there, I camped out not far from a neolithic monument called Castlerigg Stone Circle. Castlerigg Stone Circle is one of the most beautiful stone circles in the whole of Britain; the views are great and it makes for a nice walk from Keswick. This rather grungy font was made with a Sharpie pen I initially wanted to throw away, because it was dry, but then decided I could at least get one more font out of it. The result is Castlerigg - a rather neolithic looking all caps font. Castlerigg comes with double letter ligatures for the lower case.

»Prima Script« was designed especially for use in Menus and Cook-books. One of my sons is a chef in Munich and he was always bugging me to make a new font for his menus. I already designed one for him »Konstantin« but he likes to have new stuff every couple of years what I understood. So here is the new »Prima Script« (that’s what he said when he first saw the font). To give it more usability I made alternate initials and end letters as well as medieval cyphers. Then I did a couple of swashes and a handdrawn Sans font to complete the set. Have fun!

It was our initial intention to develop a suitable lowercase for Les Usherwood's 'Elston' typeface, based on a few characters from an old German typeface called Hermes Grotesque (Woellmer, Berlin). However, the new design quickly took on a life of its own, and we decided to call it ‘Creighton’. Originally released as a four font family, we have now added eight more weights and made the entire family into 'Pro' versions for good measure.

Hello, friends! I have a good news! At last I have finished working on my Antique Initials color font. Wow! It was a long and hard work because every initial is unique. I sketched each letter of the font very scrupulously from scratch. Each letter is uniquely designed and has a unique flower pattern in the background. I used a pale old color palette to color these letters. There came out two font variants: a black and white and a nice colored one. Another tip of the hat to the halcyon days of woodtype, this cap-small cap typeface takes its name from the bustling Mexican metropolis just across the Rio Grande from Brownsville, Texas. Both versions of the font include 1252 Latin, 1250 CE (with localization for Romanian and Moldovan).

Kongress is a typeface that includes all that is needed for building a proper corporate identity. The design relies on the use of straight lines and a squarish structure for the characters, which provides the text with a compact appearance. This feature helps to save space when required by the typographic composition. The design is also defined by wide counterforms and clean cuts for the strokes. All of this helps the shapes to adapt better to digital environments. Nevertheless, Kongress is not another techno typeface. The slight modulation of the strokes—especially in the italic letterforms—and the large apertures for most characters result in what we will call a techno-humanist style. The squarish structure of a techno-font blends with the calligraphic modulation of a humanist sans serif typeface.

This font was inspired by the title logo of the TV show The Wild Wild West (season two). The font was named after the train in the TV show. Wanderer is a combination of my Classic Tuscan Rodeo Clown font and a Robust Slab Serif font. Wanderer is available as a stand alone font or with the optional fill fonts. The name Jeullyta is taken from the Indonesian language but with modified pronunciation. The correct one is Jelita which means "Gorgeous". I named this font Jeullyta because it is gorgeous, from the initial process until the end product. It is a strong yet nice looking script font and can be considered a brush font too with the shadow on the body of each glyph. A set of self-adhesive poster board letters once made by the E-Z Letter Stencil Company and sold under the name "Quik Stik" was the model for School Project JNL. Ironically, the line was discontinued because they did not stick very well - the weight of the cardboard caused the letters (which used a rubber cement type of glue) to pull away from the surface they were mounted to. Unlike vinyl self-adhesive letters (which were formulated for indoor or outdoor use) these cardboard sets were relegated to indoors only; further restricting their usability.

This addition to the Whiz-Bang Woodtype series in based on a 100+ year-old typeface originally named Medallic. Due to the highly ornate nature of this font, it has a limited character set (no math operators or footnote accessories). The Opentype version of this font supports Unicode 1250 (Central European) languages, as well as Unicode 1252 (Latin) languages.

This little gem is based on a typeface discovered in a Boston Type Foundry catalog from the late 1800s, originally called "Mikado". This font gets its name from one of the more memorable characters in Gilbert and Sullivan’s operetta. Both versions of this font include the complete Unicode Latin 1252 and Central European 1250 character sets.

A handlettered headline in the January 1953 issue of Park East magazine by wacko album artist Jim Flora provided the inspiration for this exercise in extreme lettering. Check out the [brackets] and the bullet point... like, endsville, daddy-o. Due to the complexity of this typeface, the font has no math operators. The Postscript and Truetype versions contain a complete Latin language character set (Unicode 1252); in addition, the Opentype version supports Unicode 1250 (Central European) languages as well.

The hand lettered title found on the 1924 sheet music for the tango “Sentimiento Gaucho” (“Sentimental Gaucho”) offered a different take on the thick-and-thin lettering that permeated the late 1920s through the Art Deco age. A ‘slash’ or ‘swipe’ is cut through the characters (similar to “Directa JNL” – another take on this type of design). Last Tango JNL is the digital recreation of this novelty lettering and is available in both regular and oblique versions.

Our main purpose while developing this typeface was to reconstruct, in the most precise way, the first ten plates of the “Arte de Escribir”, in a chapter named “Enseñanza de la letra italiana, y sus principales variaciones, autores, sistemas, &c.”, dedicated to the analysis of the Italian Script. We decided by this plates because those are the few that don’t refer, directly or indirectly, to any author in particular. We strongly believe that these plates reflect the freedom of his very own calligraphy and are closely related to the calligraphic style that was a success among the spanish calligraphers: the Spanish Bastarda.

This font is an orphanage where all the beautiful details of classical grotesque typefaces from the early twentieth century are gathered, and thus living together, are forming a ‘new’, happy family. The aim was to collect my favorite characters in one font. The start was an eclectic collection orientated on British types from the Caslon Doric No. 4, the Monotype Grotesque, the Gill, the Franklin Gothic up to the Transport. In this amalgamation I avoided the narrow apertures in the ‘e’, ‘c’ and in the numerals ‘5’, ‘6’ and ‘9’ and enlarged the x-height dramatically. To the classical slanted form of the italics I added real italic forms for ‘a’, ‘e’ and ‘g’ in order to obtain a more distinguished italic style. DF-Dejavu Pro supports all Latin-based languages (Western, Central-European, Eastern-European, Baltic and Turkish) and includes small capitals, ligatures, inferior & superior numerals and letters, fractions, various numeral styles: proportional lining, tabular lining, proportional old-style, tabular old-style and last but not least a slashed zero.

While searching through microfilm of an old, 1932 newspaper, I stumbled on the word "Poultry" written with trapezoidal letters. I did not recall seeing lettering like this and it inspired me to design a typeface that could produce a similar result. Poultry Sign has two widths each with three weights giving the family six styles. It is monoline, monospaced, and all caps. The letters on the lower-case keys reverse the trapezoid of those on the upper-case keys. The designer's expectation is that the most common use for this typeface will alternate upper-case and lower-case keys, and to make this effect easy, included in the font is a contextual alternatives (calt) OpenType feature that automatically produces this result if your word processor supports this feature. To get text with all letters with big bottoms or all letters with with big tops, this feature must be turned off. The spacing of the letters is identical within each width so the styles can be layered to produce bi-colored or tri-colored letters. There is a second set of numbers that can be accessed with an OpenType stylistic alternative. Also accessible with OpenType stylistic alternatives are variations of letters T, N, L, Y, and V.

Kaytek™ Slab is a fresh take on the correspondence typefaces of the 90s - which were originally designed for the demands of office environments. Just like its predecessors, this text typeface is robust and hard-working - meaning it works well in challenging design or printing environments - but it’s not without personality. Look closer at the lowercase g and a, especially in the italic, and you can see some unexpected elements of subversiveness within the design. This blend of sturdiness and quirkiness means it’s just as relevant for information-heavy projects, such as annual reports, as it is in more expressive environments. Although first and foremost designed for text, Kaytek Slab’s details shine through in its heavier weights and larger sizes, meaning it also has display potential. Every style of the typeface takes up exactly the same amount of space, thanks to the way Radek Łukasiewicz created the design. He based the entire typeface on a single, master set of proportions. This means designers can switch between styles without the text being reflowed, making it particularly useful in magazines, where space might be limited, and also on the internet, where hover links appear in a different style. As well as its roots in the office, Kaytek Slab draws on a little bit more 90s nostalgia. It’s named for the first and only Polish walkman, and embodies the same solid, no-nonsense shapes that made the analogue technology of the era so charming. Kaytek Slab is robust and solid. Correntino Railway is a product of argentine typographic archeology project called “Tipografía Histórica Ferroviaria” (Fabio Ares & Octavio Osores, since 2012). Is about the signboards of the stations of the line of the Argentine Correntino Economic Railway (1892-1969). The letter of this signboards can be described as display type, with elementary geometric shapes, vertical line modulation and slight contrast.
