I like strange words. Widdershins is one of them: it means ‘to go counter clockwise’ and I picked it up from a book I am reading at the moment. Widdershins font was created using a broken bamboo satay skewer and Chinese ink. It is a little messy, uneven and maybe even unnerving, but I am sure you’ll find a way to put it to good use.

The digital font Technotyp is based on the hot metal typeface created by the German typographer and type designer Herbert Thannhaeuser (1898-1963) for the former East German type foundry Typoart in Dresden. In the typography book ‘Der Schriftsetzer’ (Fachbuchverlag, Leipzig, 1952), by Paul Fritzsche, this absolutely beautiful slab serif design is presented in all its variations. Fritzsche remarked that – because of its rather condensed form and its relatively long ascenders – the 'Werkschrift' of the Technotyp (comparable with our 'Regular') seemed to be very well suited to serve as a text face, and recommended for this purpose that the face be cut for the composing machine. However, this never happened and the entire Technotyp family was made available for hand composition only. This is finally changing and being remedied for good now: URW++ proudly presents the new digital version of this really charming font family with its distinct flavor of the 1950s, adding it to the other digital renditions of Herbert Thannhaeuser fonts at URW++, namely Garamond No. 4 and Magna. The original Typoart family had an italic style for the light version only. The new digital version of Technotyp includes italic styles for the regular, medium and bold weights as well, enhancing the family to meet today’s standards and requirements for professional type setting. Futureboy is my ALL-CAPS worn comic font. At first glance it may look monospaced, but it's not! Despite its worn look and jumpy baseline/x-height, it is surprisingly legible. Manolo was a Ludwig & Mayer in-house design from the beginning of the 20th century. Though more formal than many others, the design keeps its Art Nouveau air. Liberteen is a display typeface combining contemporary sharpness of lettershapes and post-modern irony in details with historical roots. The typeface is based on slab-serif faces of the 19th century including famous Clarendon. Liberteen is not a revival but rather a free interpretation of traditional design. Its lightest and darkest styles work perfectly in extra large sizes and Regular is suitable for a short text setting. Liberteen is a proper typeface for putting together allusions to the 19th century type revolution and a contemporary layout. Linotype Renee is part of the Take Type Library, selected from contestants of Linotype’s International Digital Type Design Contests of 1994 and 1997. It was a prize-winning entry of American designer Renee Ramsey-Passmore. The letters of this font are strictly constructed with a grid, which is still visible in the weight Types + Lines. The figures are designed with only the basic forms of circle, rectangle and triangle, giving the font an individual and technical feel. Some letters are only recognizable in the context of a word, making Linotype Renee exclusively for short headlines in large point sizes.

BC Away is a display typeface. It has emerged from the idea of drawing letterforms with a single-line path. Thanks to this idea, the characters are designed out of standard and conventional forms. Character designs are a combination of sharp corners and smooth curves, at the same time keeping readability. Some parts have been left blank in accordance with the letter forms. The name 'Away' represents these blanks. Also, the word 'a way' refers to the design of letterforms using a single-way.

Cavita typeface is a mix between both grotesque and calligraphic models: regulars have a rough grotesque spirit; while the italics where inspired in calligraphic gestures. All of these details are reinforced with an inverted modulation (horizontals strokes are thicker than usual). The italics seem to move away from the traditional concept of type system, but work very well along side. This typeface has very particular shapes and rhythm, it's different and identifiable from the rest, making it a very good option to use on every piece of design.

First version of Saturator FA Regular was designed by Magdalena Frankowska in 2007 and used successfully by many graphic designers all over the world. Whether or not you still use snail mail, there's something about folding a piece of card or paper and putting it inside a pristine white envelope. A sense of nostalgia or the tactile pleasure of mailing a card to someone you care for. The Font "Envelope" reminds us of the often overlooked innocent and fine wrapping. Envelope is an excellent display uppercase-only font for use on larger font display purposes.

With it’s origins in a hand-lettered headline about money managers, Bankster is an alphabet meant to evoke the feelings of currency or financial documents. The 1955 British edition of the sheet music for Frank Sinatra's hit "I'm Walking Behind You" had its title hand lettered in a sans serif design straight out of the Art Deco era. This bold, condensed type style is now available as Top Tune JNL; in both regular and oblique versions.

ITC Eastwood is the work of British designer Martin Archer and is named for Clint Eastwood. Archer was looking for a plain oldstyle typeface with open lower case forms and used Stempel Garamond as his starting point, although the result ended up well beyond its origins. In small point sizes the typeface looks interestingly rough while at display sizes it looks like a 16th century French typeface and its unique details come forward.

Mooseheart is derived from some hand lettering on a 1920s membership card for a fraternal organization. It is a slightly rough and casual sans serif at a gentle oblique angle, with a comic book feel. It has numerous alternate glyphs intended for use with OpenType features to help create the feel of hand lettering, and a robust international character set. The numerals are in a contrasting style, inspired by the original source material.
