The Etalage-script has been drawn for the first time in the year 2000, based on a early 20th century lettering stencil with what farmer Boelema at Lalleweer stenciled his grainsacks. Eventually the script letter was developed as a typeface with a wink to the ‘lost’ displaytypes for the ‘display window’ of graphic designer Ariënne Boelens, who in exchange made the website www.lalleweer.nl. What originated the Ariënne should be evident now.

Sheet music for the song "Beyond the Blue Horizon" from the motion picture "Monte Carlo" had the movie title in hand-lettering reminiscent of the Futura Black style, but with an inline stripe through each character. These few letter examples were the basis for Gambling Resort JNL and conjure up the Nouveau Riche spending their nights in Monte Carlo packing the roulette wheels, blackjack tables and slot machines.

Agatized Informal is a rough-edged stencil typeface with chunky letterforms and tight spacing. Designed primarily for display use, it’s ideal for posters, logos, advertising, book cover designs or small chunks of text such as pull-out quotes. The design is something of an enigma, a curious mish-mash of genres – imagine splicing Uncle Buck and Deadpool into a horror movie – it’s big, bold and funny although has a dark side. But what really makes this typeface a joy to drive is its boot full of alternative characters and ligatures. There is a saying: Use sparingly. Not on this street! Make your Glyphs palette burn rubber. Set your OpenType to full throttle: crank up your style and get those liga-tyres screeching. Agatized is a souped-up old campervan spinning doughnuts on the beach. The design started life as a piece of lettering for a book design that didn’t progress past the sketch stage. I liked the rough, dense character shapes, so during some down time I started drawing more characters and the lure of a new typeface pulled me in from there. Although this is a single-weight typeface it has a younger sibling, Agatized Formal, a neater, more dapper brother, smoother round the chops and smartly dressed – certainly no less fun though.

For the angular, blocky look, the future is Ferrocarbon! Designed primarily as a title font, I created it way back in 2013 and promptly forgot about, so I'm releasing it to the world now. it's meant to be used for your tech and sci-fi uses, but don't let us stop you there!

Constructed only with straight lines, Maest is an unusual script typeface. The straight lines give the letters a striking visual effect, specially in small sizes. Maest also features four styles of figures, plus swash capitals, a few ending forms and the f-ligatures. It is available in three weights, from regular to black.

Designed after the sixties neon sign of an arthouse cinema in downtown Zurich, Studio 5 is now a typeface for many applications. The three different styles include old style numbers and alternate characters for titling. All styles have the same metrics. Bold and open styles can be layered for neon sign effects.

Many great lettering examples were found in the 1939 French publication by Georges Léculier, "Modèles de Lettres Moderns" ("Models of Modern Letters"). The Bree font family is a spry sans serif by Veronika Burian and José Scaglione that delivers a spirited look and feel for branding and headline usage. As an upright italic, Bree shows a pleasant mix of rather unobtrusive capitals with more vivid lowercase letters, giving text a lively appearance. Bree is clearly influenced by handwriting. Worn Gothic, a typeface from the Grit History™ B family, creates rock solid text-- characters that are weathered, defined and strong, like the body of a gargoyle. Type designer Xavier Dupré’s Garalda is a charming 21st century family that renews a legacy of finesse. As paragraphs on a page, Garalda’s overall impression is of a workaday personality, committed to the main purpose of the job: easy long-form reading. But setting it in display sizes proves something different: This reinvented Garamond is anything but basic. The Garalda story begins with the serendipitous finding of a book typeset in a rare Garalde, called Tory-Garamond, with which Dupré was not immediately familiar. This Garamond was used in bibliophile books in the decades surrounding 1920, but after that it became déclassé for an unknown reason. Dupré found the italic styles especially charming and discovered the family was probably the mythical Ollière Garamond cut from 1914. He obtained low resolution scans of the typeface and used them, rather than high resolution scans, as the basis for his new type family. This allowed Dupré the mental freedom to experiment and remix as he saw fit, culminating in a contemporary family with heritage. As seen in the simplistic rectangular serifs, Garalda is a humanist slab serif, but with a mix of angles and curves to give the classic shapes a fresh, unorthodox feeling. While almost invisible in paragraph text, these produce a graphic effect in display work. The set of ligatures in the roman and italics lend themselves to unique display use, such as creating lovely logotypes. In the italics, some swashes inspired by different historic Garamonds are included, sometimes breaking their curves to be more captivating. Just look at how the italic ‘*-s’ ligatures create ‘s’ with a cursive formation rather than merely a flowing slant. And how the roman ‘g’ link swings as wide as a trainer’s whip. These are all balanced by squared serifs in the roman to keep an overall mechanised regularity. The Garalda family comes in eight styles, includes some of the original arrows and ornaments, and speaks multiple languages for all typesetting needs, from pamphlets to fine book printing. Brookshire was inspired by the lettering seen on the Almanac ephemera paper when I visited the flea market in France. Sukothai is a traditional Thai design based on early metal type. The classic and distinct forms make it excellent for setting text at small sizes or in large passages. Originally released by Linotype for digital photocomposition, now both the Light and Bold weights are available in OpenType format. This makes it possible to dynamically and precisely position the various levels of superscript and subscript vowel signs and tonal marks. In addition to this, the complete Unicode page range for Thai is covered to ensure flawless conversion between other OpenType fonts using Unicode. The accompanying Latin design matches well in scale and texture and supports most Western European languages making it ideal for setting bilingual texts.

Karmina Sans follows the steps of its successful award winner cousin, Karmina Serif. It shares the same technical excellence and it achieves similar stylistic features, but the new sans serif version proposes a much more versatile tool for editorial designers. After several months discovering and developing the traits and personalities well balanced typefaces such like Frutiger and the other identical typefaces, Catesque was born as the new typefaces. The vocal flourish yet harmonious shapes not purely geometrically, it has imperfect rounded characters such as “O” “C” and “G”. Catesque can make some distinctness for large scale design as well as small text. The traits versatilities usable for many design applications, it’s comes with five weights from light to black plus mathcing italics. The Clearface types were originally designed by Morris Fuller Benton in 1907. Their forms expressed the Zeitgeist of the turn of the 20th century; typical and distinguishing characteristics are the forms of the a" and the "k." The ATF version did not include an accompanying Italic. In 1978, ITC's Victor Caruso was licensed by ATF to develop a new serif typeface and matching italic based on the forms of Clearface. The result was ITC Clearface, a serif typeface with marked stroke contrast and italic weights. The teardrop-formed endings of the lowercase a, c and f (also found in Caslon) define the character of the face. The type's design is also distinguished by its small -- almost slab -- serifs, a large x-height, and little stroke contrast. ITC Clearface, with its historical touch, is good for both texts and headlines, but its slightly condensed nature performs at its best when it is allowed its space.

This font takes its name and the overall shape from modern bentwood furniture, namely Scandinavian designs since the 1940s. The curved corners of the letterforms are practically hyperbolic, to convey the tension and strength of the bent plywood. These curves are meant to appear more dynamic than circular or elliptical segments of traditional sans serif fonts. The letterforms are simplified, without extra corners, stems, connections or hooks, yet remain legible at any size. Now at version 2, Bentwood contains Central/Eastern European, Baltic and Turkish character sets and more ligatures with Open Type functionality. Some minor corrections were made to letter shapes and positions, as well as to kerning and spacing.

The inspiration source for Triangulus Monogram is a vintage publication called “Bibliotheque D.M.C: Alphabets et Monogrammes 2nd Series”. Found in that specimen book, is an alternative to the traditionally seen diamond monogram style. A triangular form, this monogram style is now digitally recreated and revived for modern use in Triangulus Monogram, with two letter monograms and a selection of additional frame styles for a final classy touch! Handprint was inspired by a set of old metal alphabet stamps, with a few modifications. Stamped in a sketchy manner, these metal stamps made the basis for a very interesting alphabet and font.

Advertisements in the September, 1936 French movie publication “La Cinématographie Française” featured a hand lettered slab serif type design that is now available as Cinema Serif JNL in both regular and oblique versions.

Negative sans-serif capitals in squares with rounded corners, looking like tiles, pushbuttons or computer keys. The font can be used for logos, signs and labels, and for markings on maps and charts.

Roanoke Script is a hand-written script inspired by 18th century forms. The visual effect is of a steel nib pen writing on uncalendered paper. Ideal for a few words in display sizes.

Ames’ text is designed for use in its own right and also as a complement to our Ames’ Roman family. Ames’ text is a ‘New-Style’ Didone family offered in three weights and three widths. It is designed to embody clarity combined with contrast between horizontal and vertical strokes, but with sufficient stroke width in both directions to display well at small point sizes. All typefaces include small capital forms, new and old style numerals (and ‘small capital’ numerals for consistency). The letters were inspired by my handwriting on a good day - slowed down, legible, and intentionally drawn. I even threw in some of my favorite doodles as alt characters because the set wouldn't be complete without them. And the name was inspired purely by how it feels when I see it - and by my word of the year, delight. Delightful is ideal for anyone who wants to include a bit more warmth and a personal touch with their messaging. It's friendly and non-threatening, and will enhance personal projects or professional ones alike - whether you're a designer, an Instagram influencer, or you need to create some flyers for the local Mom 'n Pop Shop. There are two versions of this font. The original style is slightly more rounded and gets chubbier as you increase its boldness, and the stretched style is like a condensed version, except it's been stretched taller rather than squished narrower. Btoxina is a free interpretation of the theme pixel font. With its technological feeling, it reflects the spirit of our age. By designing the font Filippo Salmina, the author, has been inspired by the signage used in starships. Btoxina is grid-based but it differs from classical screen fonts by the use of diagonal lines. It is characterized by the renouncement of the use of capital letters in favor of using negative letters and by the automatic generation of ligatures. The typeface is available in two different styles: Atoxina (regular) and Btoxina (italic). The Heinemann fonts were initially developed by the in-house design team at Heinemann educational publishing out of the necessity to find the perfect font for use in early primary reading books and literacy products. Basic Heinemann is defined by longer ascenders and descenders, which help children to distinguish between letters; rounded edges on all letterforms, which help the reader focus on the individual letter shape; and modified characters (eg., a and g), which ensure instant recognition of letterforms. Heinemann Special offers further modified characters and kerning pairs ideal for dyslexic or special-needs use (eg., a, d, and b). The Heinemann fonts were developed in partnership with children, literacy advisors, teachers of special needs/dyslexia, and primary-school teachers and are now available in response to hundreds of requests from publishers, designers, and teachers to purchase them. They have been tested in schools and learning institutions over an 8-year period, and they are a favorite for use in both print and electronic products.
