Rudolf typeface was designed on the basis of medals made by author's grandfather, the sculptor Rudolf Rogatty. He used lettering that was very typical of monuments, medals and commemorative plaques during communist times in Poland, which can still be seen today in any Polish city. These letters are beautiful for their imperfection and they have very strictly defined rules governing their structure.

“The Auto Show” is the title of an early 1900s pieces of sheet music proving that America has had a fascination with cars since the earliest days of the automotive industry. The song sheet’s title was hand lettered in a casual Art Nouveau style which has been re-drawn digitally as Nouveau Auto JNL, and is available in both regular and oblique versions… and what’s better than a nouveau auto (a new car)?

The sheet music for the 1939 tune "Chico's Love Song (Ma-La-Ja Fa-La Pas-Ka Lah-Ta) [Cuban Double Talk]" may have had an odd title, but the main portion of it was hand lettered in an interesting style. Condensed letters with rounded corners complemented by sharp lines and angles give the characters an almost futuristic look, despite the fact that they were designed during the Art Deco era. This became the basis for Song Composer JNL, which is available in both regular and oblique versions.

Aurelac - is a font that was inspired by the cover of the book "Learn to sew" by authors Egorova R. I. and Monastyrnaya V. P. Schoolyard Blues JNL is based on the hand lettered title found on the sheet music for the 1938 song "I Was Late for School". A condensed sans serif with chamfered corners, it reflects the Art Deco influences of the day in some of the letter forms. This type design is available in both regular and oblique versions.

Folsom JNL is one of the many stencil fonts Jeff Levine has recreated from original sources. This particular design was modeled from a kit made by the Meyercord Company of Chicago. In the original, some of the letters were solid rather than stencil forms, but Jeff gave all of the letters the traditional treatment for continuity.

The hand-lettered movie titles from one of the William Powell-Myrna Loy "Thin Man" series of films was the basis for Intrigue JNL. Although the lettering style is decidedly from the Art Deco era, it also bears a strong resemblance to the 1980s techno movement; this font being adaptable to any era or design theme.

In the December, 1947 issue of Modern Screen magazine, a feature article showcased actress Deborah Kerr with the title “Imported”. The typography used for the headline of the article was a hand lettered, extra-bold, sans serif stencil design. Anna Gagarin is the loving matriarch of the Gagarin Family. Her life was full of love and passion. She had several affairs with Futurist and Contstructivist artist in the beginning of the 20th century. She was in love with the Russian poet Vladimir Majakovski (born on July 19th, 1893 and died in Moscow on the April 14th, 1930). She gave birth to his son Boris. She called him 'a cloud with trousers'. After this love story, Anna Gagarin met the designer and artist Gustav Klucis in Italy. His radical and political ideas were much too childish for her. After a period of love and passion Anna gave birth to his son. At that time they were in Italy, which explains his italic forms. After her return to Moscow in the beginning of the 1920's Anna was introduced by Alexander Rodchenko. They were heavenly in love but Ilja Stepanova was very jealous on her husband. Anna once said that 'Alexander fills mine construction with love...' That phrase can be an explanation for the term Constructuvism as an art movement. Alexander was the great love of Anna. She gave birth to their love-baby Dimitri Gagarin. That night Alexander designed his most famous poster. A decade before that Anna told it was
'a time for a change'. In a local bar in Sint Petersburg she met Gregory Rasputin. At that time Rasputin was a well known person and a respected member of the Sint Petersburg upper class.His diabolic character influenced Anna and after several months she gave birth to their son Kurt. This family of two character monograms and initial letters was inspired from a French portfolio containing about two hundred examples of "Chiffres - deux lettres", destinated to engravers and jewelers, published in Paris in 1864, drawn by French engraver, C. Demengeot. Unfortunately, a large part of the pages were lost, so we have had to redraw about two thirds of the complete monogram family. Each package contains numerals and two complete sets of two-letter monograms, for example the A-B set, containing AA AB AC... corresponding to caps keys alphabet and BA, BB, BC... corresponding to lower case keys alphabet. We have added an Initial set, with two choices of single characters. Warning: I and J have strictly identical monograms.

Lianhua is a handwritten font with a soft touch, given by a Chinese ink brush. There are lots of Chinese western fonts having a strong, sharp visual feeling, like the strokes of Chinese characters, so I decide to do the opposite: soft. Because except for Yang, there is also Yin in Chinese culture. The name 'Lianhua' means lotus in Chinese. This font is flexible and widely-used, it's suited for book titles, posters, brochures, flyers, even for menus of a Chinese restaurant. The total glyphs in this font is 351, including basic Latin letters and symbols, Latin-Expand A, 10 ligatures and 2 alternate letters, which are the letter g and letter y.

You might call this a Bodoni Ornate font that Bodoni never made, close examination of this old 1800s font and it's plain to see that the top half of the letters is very Bodoni in appearance. Apple Pie is a revival of and old font from the William Hagar Type Foundry, which I've been able to date back to 1850. The William Hagar type specimen book from the 1850s only shows this font as a caps only typeface plus numbers, later in 1869 MacKellar Smiths and Jordan offered this font with a lowercase. Over a two year period I was able to collect enough letters to begin production of this old decorative font, the type specimen books only showed a small line of text for this font so I would search through old documents on eBay and also shows relating to Ephemera. I could have easily developed a new font based on a very small sample of letters but I wanted to wait and find as many letters as possible, I was unable to find the Q, X, Z and ten lowercase letters so those missing letters are of my own design. New to this font is the addition of an all Caps Greek character set, accented letters for Eastern Central and Western European countries is also within this font. Fill fonts are available for the Apple Pie font, you will need an application that works in layers such as Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator or Corel Graphics in order to use the Fill fonts. Some Fill fonts may be used as stand alone fonts but the versions for Apple Pie look best when layered behind the parent or main Apple Pie fonts. Be sure to check out the left and right hands located on the Less Than and Greater Than keys.

This oblique font is inspired by Molly Jacques’ “signature” lettering style, using bold brush strokes, fluid flourishes, and distinctive characters. Kailey has a distinct feminine feel that takes on a bold attitude to match her curves.

First published in 1938, Letters and Lettering by Paul Carlyle and Guy Loring was a textbook on lettering examples and how to do them. On one of the pages was found a solid black (counterless) Art Deco sans serif design that in its many variations so typified the era. The example shown in that book served as the model for Postmodern Moderne JNL, which is available in both regular and oblique versions.

Within the pages of an early-1900s instructional book on show card lettering was found a marvelous example of an alphabet that typifies the Art Nouveau movement of the era and served as the inspiration for Nouveau Riche JNL. Angular, artistic and reminiscent (in some ways) of ancient Greek lettering, this design has many unusual letterforms. Check out the interpretive K and R for the best examples of this art style.

Kwikspeed is a italic display font that was developed from typography used in e sport themed design work. The font is designed so that the capital letters link together in a cool way. The font includes lots of alternative capital letters to provide many different options allowing you more versatility. The same goes for the ligatures - they also present cool ways of displaying letter combinations. The font includes uppercase, lowercase, numbers, alternative capitals, discretionary ligatures, basic Latin international and punctuation characters.

REALLY fat faces seem to be popular these days, so here's my take on one. The strokes have been expanded to the brink of illegibility, but the letters remain distinguishable, especially in context. Also included are alternate versions of the letter A—suitable for use as first and last letters in a word— in the ASII circumflex and ASCII tilde positions. This font contains the complete Latin language character set (Unicode 1252) plus support for Central European (Unicode 1250) languages as well.

This font was adapted from an old lettering book, circa 1900. The book got away from us many years ago, but we had made stats of all the potentially useful fonts. Original had no lowercase or numerals, so we designed them.

Indenture English Penman is based on research into original English and American indenture contracts from the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, mostly with roundhand scripts, paragraph versals in Old English script and many, many flourishes. This font has a little of everything, with hundreds of glyphs: dozens of versals to each alphabet letter, some versals in Old English style, plus flourishes to use at beginnings of paragraphs or chapters, and many additional flourishes to create perfect ancient documents. To better use the resources of this font we suggest using the Glyphs resource in Illustrator and other software.

In Vasetters the letters are cut from the shape of a tessellating vase. To get the tessellating effect, the two sets of letters (and numbers and some symbols) must alternate, and this is done automatically in applications that support the OpenType feature of Contextual Alternatives (calt). Vasetters is monospaced and comes in two weights. The regular weight is tightly spaced, which should not be a problem at large point sizes. At small point sizes adjacent letters can be colored differently or the character spacing can be increased. The lighter weight can be used alone or layered above the regular weight to create the effect of hollow lettering. Vasetters is is fun, bizarre, weird, and obviously a decorative display font.

The cover of a 1950s-era catalog for the Freedman Novelty Company (of San Francisco California) had the word "Novelty" hand-lettered in an unusually angular type style against various geometric shapes somewhat resembling balloons. While the lettering was quirky enough to warrant re-drawing as a digital font, the shapes would have presented a visual nightmare in design and spacing, so simple black rectangles were substituted and the letters appear in white. Since novelty lettering of this type would never become "standard" in use, its function became the font's name, Limited Appeal JNL. There is just a simple A-Z and 1-0 character set along with basic punctuation.

This typeface finds a perfect balance between technical excellence, careful design of letter forms for extended reading, and a measured dose of charm and personality. Its informal feel allows for successfully typesetting a wide range of applications, from magazines and fiction books to advertising and websites. Calligraphy, be it done with the broad-edge pen, brush, or other tools, has been fundamental in the development of Pollen. Its influence is clearly visible in the construction of the top serifs contrasting the curved bottom serifs and the fluid aspect of terminals and tails, such as on “g” and “r”. The shapes of the diagonal letters are based on a less formal calligraphic model, but still uses the broad edge pen. ­The letters were then subject to a further process of pencil drawing and digital re-interpretation, which gave them the final shape. The designs of “e” and “c” are derived from drawings made with only one continuous line, with the pencil always touching the paper. The letters “g” and “y” express the intention to bring informal elements to a typeface intended for long text reading, usually characteristic of casual writing. This playful offering, suggestive of Cooper Black on some serious drugs, is based on the so-called “California” style of lettering used extensively in travel posters of the 30s to the 50s. This version is based on its interpretation by Carl Holmes in a Walter T. Foster artbook entitled ABC of Lettering. Both versions of this font include the complete Unicode Latin 1252 and Central European 1250 character sets.

This hand-lettered italic casual is another versatile font produced by Jeff Marshall, aptly named “Flick” due to its off the brush casual feel. This style was a work horse back in the day where it was used on cafe menu boards through to regulation lettering on trucks and aircraft.

Octagen is a family of 16 condensed Sans Serif fonts of geometric construction and neo-Gothic style with short descenders and a humanistic finish in the curves and auctions of the tiny letters to avoid the coldness of the grotesque typographies, providing expressiveness, energy, warmth and docility , resulting in a friendly typography with a lot of personality and readability, specially drawn for the composition of short and medium texts, signage or headlines where horizontal space saving is needed. The typography has 529 glyphs (Latin Extended-A) with advanced OpenType functions, several number games, a complete set of neutral-style alternative lower case letters and the Bitcoin symbol. For Octagen cursive styles I used a set of lowercase letters without terminal finishes, more neutral than the regular versions, this being compensated by the expressiveness of the italics inclination, thus achieving important morphological, coherent differences within the conceptual development of this typographic family.
