Over the past 5 years, I've had the opportunity to travel a lot to Paris and I've always tried to catch every moment and detail of this delightful city through the eyes of the designer inside me. Paris is full of surprises, mainly for us, artists. In fact, I believe the city is a museum itself. Every corner of any street has something inspiring. But, there’s something I particularly love and I want to address here: The Palais Garnier. Built between 1861 and 1875, this opera house is a dream made true for many of us, who love somptuosité. Garnier, the architect of this magnificent building, said that the style he proposed was not Grecian nor Roman/baroque, he created something new and called it Napoleonic: Luxurious at its best. Fleur is inspired in this palace which, in fact, has some similar letters inside. Garnier put his name at the ceiling of the Rotonde des Abonnés: Letters are interlacing each other with nicely done art nouveau curves. I thought I could take this idea and achieve something very delicate and imposing at the same time if the font consisted entirely of caps with the logic of a didone and a bit of art-nouveau. This mix of elegance and flamboyance gave birth to Fleur which has a wide range of uses but was mainly intended for perfumes, fashion magazines, storefronts, book covers or logos. Linotype Tiger is part of the Take Type Library, chosen from the entries of the Linotype-sponsored International Digital Type Design Contests of 1994 and 1997. This fun font was created by German designers G. Jakob and J. Meißner. Like the font Linotype Sunburst, Linotype Tiger is also a typeface without curves, rather, angular and almost aggressive. The forms are reminiscent of splinters of wood arranged to form letters, numerals and punctuation signs. The font contains five weights which can be combined experimentally with each other, even over each other, or combined with more neutral typefaces. With its energetic character, Linotype Tiger is genearlly suitable exclusively for headlines with point sizes of 18 or larger, although the weight Linotype Tiger Tame can also be used for shorter texts.

Caesario is Mike Scarpitti's newest font, based on the famous inscriptory lettering on the Trajan column in Rome. After searching through many sources, he turned to the drawings of the original column lettering made by Frederic Goudy in 1936. The superior quality of these drawings combined with the Mike's faithful reproduction of the characters forms make Caesario the best available representation of the style of this famous incription.

The wind howled, the night grew long, and British type designer and lettering artist Tim Donaldson created the typeface Banshee. This dramatic display face is modeled after one of Donaldson�s handwritten lettering styles. Banshee began as letters rapidly written by Donaldson with one of his homemade ruling" pens. The letterforms are firmly rooted in the tradition of classical chancery italics. I like strange words. Widdershins is one of them: it means ‘to go counter clockwise’ and I picked it up from a book I am reading at the moment. Widdershins font was created using a broken bamboo satay skewer and Chinese ink. It is a little messy, uneven and maybe even unnerving, but I am sure you’ll find a way to put it to good use.

A modern, geometric sans serif display font with a hint of the future and the alien. The familiar letter-shapes are reimagined, with key stokes being placed in unusual positions without impacting the readability. The 'Solid' variants have certain counters filled in, creating a bold and unusual rhythm that is very effective in shorter settings. Brohan Black is a monospaced font: each character has the width of the piece of paper from which it was cut with a pair of scissors. The loss is minimal, as the counters are as small as possible while still retaining maximum legibilty. To save ink, print negative. Recommended for cement companies, post-industrial record sleeves and heavy poetry. Also great for temporary signage.

It's not a new idea, but it's always a fun one... a typeface comprised of 35mm film frames. Film Crew JNL is Jeff Levine's version, utilizing his Koehler Sans JNL as the lettering inside the frames. The lesser and greater keys have solid black frames for end caps or word spacing, and there's an alternate pair of frames with clear centers on the brace keys.

Retail Merchant JNL is strictly for making prices. The 0-9 keys have large numbers, the shift position of the same keys have smaller, centered numbers, and the alphabet keys have a variety of smaller numbers with underscores in single digits, pairs of numerals and even a few complete prices such as "$1.00". Thrown in for good measure are companion words... "at", "for, "each", "lb." and "dozen"...

This variation of "Drakalligro" is its best look, the slab serifs in its characters give a good look and make this font something special. I added short slab serifs taking into account that the font is thick. Half slab serifs and some variations in their position are the special feature.

The seventeenth century Dutch old faces have a distinct character of their own, and were the source for eighteenth century English type designs, such as Caslon. Christoffel van Dijck was one of the great Dutch typefounders, although this face, which bears his name, may not have been cut by him, it is nevertheless representative of the best designs from that period. FREIBEUTER NR is a typical Western font but this is based on a FAMOUS Motorcycle Club from the television that everyone knows. The word FREIBEUTER is the German version of pirate. FREIBEUTER did in earlier times what pirates do, but they do it with the government togetherness. NR stands for NIEDERRHEIN, this is the area where I live and work. The PATCH Version is the best way to make fast a nice Banner or Patch with this font. You can use the WrapTEXT tool in Illustrator or Photoshop to wrap the banner in al forms!

Display Prominent is a display font not intended for text use. It was designed specifically for display, headline, logotype, branding, and similar applications. In place of a lowercase there are short caps that are centered horizontally on the tall caps. There are also short numbers, punctuation, and miscellaneous characters.

Another offbeat typeface inspired by the lettering on a design by Patrick Owsley for the Chicago Bears. There's nothing more lively than animated text, and Bear Club has that flavor in two ways. With counter inspirations drawn from fonts like Ad Lib and Nightclub, an automatic alternating caps and alternate caps feature, as well as a contextual alternates set that creates a true animated bounce, just like Hip Hopper. Gildersleeve evokes the spirit of the Arts and Crafts movement of the 1920s. Think of a hand-cut Roman display face, with loving care lavished over each serif and letterform. Rudolf Hell, Kiel. The forms of Sierra with their flowing stroke contrast and half serifs have a calligraphic touch, which is especially highlighted in the italic weights. This is a graceful text type and its bold weights look almost like woodcuts. Sierra is an excellent choice for both texts and headlines.
