Second Impression JNL is the solid version of Lasting Impression JNL by Jeff Levine. It emulates the look of ink-stamped letters and numerals. Based on a 1930s-era set of rubber stamps, there is a limited character set.

For many decades, the fashion magazine “Vogue” featured superbly illustrated covers before photography became more commonplace. During the 1930s and 1940s those illustrations were accompanied by many creative styles of hand lettering for its monthly issues. The January, 1930 cover had the magazine’s name lettered in an Art Deco geometric monoline, which became the inspiration for Vagary JNL, which is available in both regular and oblique versions. A vagary [in a simple sense] is when something or someone changes in an erratic or unexpected way (as the wind’s direction or in a person’s mood or whim)… and thus seemed the fitting name for this type style.

Emil Bertell's Bayamo is a contemporary, digital take on the brush script tradition. It echoes the loose forms and energetic personality of sign painted letters, tapping into the current nostalgia for hand-drawn type. “I think most script fonts nowadays are either some kind of modern calligraphy, or synthetic/mechanical scripts,” says Bertell. “This one leans more towards a classic American sign painting tradition.” Contextual alternates ensure that lowercase characters change depending what's next to them, mimicking the more varied word shapes created by sign writers. Well suited for branding projects, packaging and headlines, Bayamo also pairs well with strong sans serif, and other typefaces with angular forms.

Gummed Alphabet JNL was modeled from a 1960s-era package of foil embossed gummed letters. This type of lettering device was sold through stationery, variety stores and similar merchants, and could be used for personalizing items or making small signs.

NATH !* Is a peculiar typeface. It’s design came by the fascination of Optical Illusions and 3D on a flat surface, like with Holborn and Powerplay. Valute is a custom font with variable typeface, but at first glance it looks very mischievous. Very thincontrasting lines are very legible with heavy use of paragraph text. We made Valute with 9 weights that include ligatures and are multilingual. We will make language and feature updates in the future as this is a long-term project that we will be building on.

A refreshing stars-and-stripes treatment, suggested by lettering artist Francisco Gonzales, combined with the letterforms of an old ATF typeface named "Rodeo", produced this delightfully novel font, suitable for patriotic occasions. Named for a small Texas town, which pronounces its name "Eerie-Ann." Both versions of the font include 1252 Latin, 1250 CE (with localization for Romanian and Moldovan).

Chili is a version of our Texas Chili font with the spurs removed. The Chili font family also includes a Unicase i that's balanced to the weight of the uppercase. Who haven't heard the phrase that ‘any past time was better’?. Although I sometimes find this phrase a little too pessimistic (because I try to think that the best is yet to come), it may be true regarding my passion, typography. I'm too young (29) unfortunately, and this means I did not have the pleasure of being contemporary with maybe the man who has influenced my work the most (1). The man that showed that letters are more than just letters to be read. Herb Lubalin (1918-1981), also called sometimes as ‘the rule basher’ (2), smashed the taboos and sacred rules of type design and gave it personality. He rejected the functionalist philosophy of europeans in favor of an eclectic and exuberant style. To him, letters were not merely vessels of form, they were objects of meaning. (3). Nowadays, when looking at his portfolio, who dares to deny that the term ‘typography’ and ‘beauty’ may go hand-in-hand without any problem? Ed Benguiat, one of Herb’s partners, still likes making jokes with the phrase “screw legibility, type should be beautiful” and what I understand of this is not to forget the rules, but to know and break them carefully. In an era of pure eclecticism, we, the lovers of flourishes and swashes, can't do nothing but admire all the legacy that Lubalin, this wonderful type-guru, left. My font Lubaline read as “the line of Lubalin” is my humble tribute to him. Those who know his work, may see the influences easily like in his ‘Beards’ (1976) and ‘The Sound of Music’ (1965) posters; the art-deco forms in many of his amazing logos and practically in all his creations where letters seem to be alive just like you and me. I really hope that the future finds me still learning more and more about type-design and letterforms, and like him, always willing to make innovations in my field: Because letters are not just letters to be read. Guinevere Pro is a typeface designed by Icelandic art director Sigurdur Armannsson. It started in 2001 as simple hand-drawn sketches of a few letters built from modules, then became an experiment with four goals: - Construct an original alphabet from a specific set of predetermined modules. - See how certain letter forms built without said modules would behave within the totality of the module-constructed alphabet. - See if certain letters would actually enforce their own shapes to be drawn a certain way within the totality of the typeface. Likewise, see if the totality of the alphabet demands that individual letters be drawn in a specific way, and if so, how much room for variation would there be? - See how all of the above reacts/changes to implementing the alphabet across different weights. The experiment was finessed and re-worked over many years of technology changes, and Guinevere Pro is the final outcome, ten years later. The Guinevere Pro set is four cross-platform Open Type fonts, with built-in small caps, alternates, ligatures, and support for a wide range of Latin-based languages.
