Since I have my new logotype people are asking me about the typeface it is based on. But it did not exist and I did not believe that it would actually work. I still love my logotype and so I went on to try to make it work as a font. After many different versions and some doubts I am glad to present Jocham. It is the first typeface with my name. For an obvious reason. There is only one weight with an italic. I tried different weight, but they were all not as strong as the final.

Everleigh Duo consists of two typefaces - thin serif font and calligraphic script font. Both of this fonts have an elegant thin shape with classic influences. A 1964 piece of sheet music entitled “Old Soldiers Never Die (They Just Fade Away)” was based on the farewell speech General Douglas MacArthur gave to Congress on April 19, 1951. This particular edition of the song sheet had part of his speech (as well as its title) hand lettered in a free-form sans serif reminiscent of the lettering done by such noted lettering artists as Paul Coker and Saul Bass. Isotonic started out as a spin-off with the idea of creating a text oriented version of Ciutadella, it has since taken on a life of its own. Lombriz attempts to bridge the gap between different kinds of typography - including packaging, signage, and sporting. The result is a heavy, yet casual, 1950s-inspired semi-connected script. Binny Old Style is based on type designs originally cut in Scotland about 1863. Binny Old Style shows the influence of the types cut by William Caslon but was an attempt to make a modernized version by eliminating some of Caslon's more archaic features. It was cut by some American foundries at the end of the nineteenth century and by Lanston Monotype for mechanical composition, in 1908. Binny Old Style was named after Archibald Binny, a Scotsman who established a type foundry in Philadelphia in 1796. The Binny Old Style font is ideal for small point size settings in newspaper advertisements, catalogues etc.

Pistol Twelve JNL is a novelty version of Jeff Levine's Twelve Oaks JNL wood type font, with the addition of random bullet holes in the upper case characters. The font design was suggested by fellow type designer Ray Larabie. Pistol Twelve JNL is a two-fold pun. Initially, this conveys the obvious fact that the design is a variation of Twelve Oaks JNL with bullet holes... but the name is also a play on an old, old joke. One person asks the other: "Would you care to join the Pistol Club? You drink 'til twelve and..." Well, you get the picture!

Stencils have played a number of roles over the years, from decorative patterns to military markings; from labeling shipping containers to a student’s school project. One unusual application of a stencil alphabet was some metal letters spotted for sale at an online auction site. These antique letters were used for promoting the current show on a theater marquee just as plastic ones are used nowadays. Following the auction images as a guide, the Roman stencil font from those marquee letters is now preserved digitally as Talent Stencil JNL; which is available in both regular and oblique versions.
