One in the series of fonts celebrating the Halcyon Days of Handlettering. Wigwam evokes, among other things, memories of summer camps and trailer parks of a bygone day. Based on a font presented in the 1933 book Lettering of Today by W. Ben and Ed C. Hunt. Both versions of this font contain the Unicode 1252 (Latin) and Unicode 1250 (Central European) character sets, with localization for Romanian and Moldovan.

Based on a fifteenth century Textura Blackletter typeface, Octoberfest has a companion with Lombardic style capitals, Octoberfest Alternate. Both Octoberfest and Octoberfest Alternate use the OpenType ligature feature to automatically substitute a subtly unique pair of distressed characters when any lower case character is keyed twice in a row. The Pro versions of Octoberfest and Octoberfest Alternate extend the character set to support Eastern European and Baltic languages.

Buddy Slender is the narrower version of the companion sans for Contenu, the book font family designed for a book on book family design called Practical Font Design. It's a loose, free, easy to read sans, so when my wife suggested Buddy, it clicked. This is the 2-font Buddy Slender family of Regular & Bold. I made a new more limited feature set for these fonts due to their designed usage.

A touch of spice is often what makes a good meal even better. In Danish, spice is called "krydderi" I chose that particular name for this font because it is the kind of brush font that most likely could spice up your next design. I've added 6 different versions of each letter, and they automatically cycle as you type, leaving the result like authentic brush written text. All Caps Fonts.

This font is an adaptation of the typeface I designed for TJX Europe, which was used in their branding campaigns for the TK MAXX stores all over Europe. Most characters were given a major facelift and also a few extra ligatures were added in the process. Quintus comes with a regular and a bold version so it offers more variety in use. It also works well in all caps.

At one time, the Hampton Publishing Company of New York specialized in producing reading and activity books for children. The “Letters and Numbers Stencil Book” (probably from the late 1940s or early 1950s) was the basis for Kiddie Stencil JNL. This bold sans serif type style replicates the handmade steel rule dies used for cutting the stencil pages of the book, and is available in both regular and oblique versions.

Teamhair Tower is a “rough” monowidth font based on the face used on the old Sears Tower Gaelic manual typewriter. Teamhair was first digitized in 2002 by Michael Everson and originally used the MacGaelic character set on the Macintosh platform, and ISO/IEC 8859-14 on the PC. In 2008 Doire version 3 was released in OpenType format, completely compliant with Unicode encoding and with an extended character set.

Personlighed was originally a handdrawn font, but I decided to trace each glyph and make this super clean font instead. The idea of the font is about making a hybrid between the handdrawn lines and the “computerized” vector. If you look closely, I have some uneven lines here and there (not many, but are here and there!) I’ve also added some alternative versions of j, k, q, r and the ampersand

Pacific Atoll JNL is a stylized slab serif type design based on the movie title lettering for the 1942 wartime film “Pacific Rendezvous”, and is available in both regular and oblique versions. According to Wikipedia, “…an atoll (sometimes known as a coral atoll), is a ring-shaped coral reef, including a coral rim that encircles a lagoon partially or completely. There may be coral islands or cays on the rim.”

Within the pages of “The Essentials of Lettering” by Thomas E. French and Robert Meiklejohn (circa 1912) is an example for creating a sans serif alphabet and numerals. The lesson plate is entitled “Upright Single-Stroke Gothic”; a basic monoline font most useful for architectural and drafting plans because of its easy-to-read properties. This type design is now available as Drafting Class JNL, in both regular and oblique versions.

The original characters, and now-rarely-seen alternate characters, for Memphis, designed by Emil Rudolf Weiss for American Type Founders in 1930, provided the pattern for this wispy, ultralight typeface. Although intended primarily for headlines, this typeface can also be used for brief blocks of text, if set 18 pt. or larger. Both versions of the font include 1252 Latin, 1250 CE (with localization for Romanian and Moldovan).

Hiya, kids! Hiya, hiya, hiya! was the customary greeting of Froggy (a rather cheap rubber toy), who played second banana to otherwise-perennial sidekick Andy Devine on the 1950s TV show, Andy's Gang. The Magic Twanger was the thing which, when plunked, brought on the cartoons and other kid-friendly fare. The Opentype version of this font supports Unicode 1250 (Central European) languages, as well as Unicode 1252 (Latin) languages.

The American Sign Museum in Cincinnati houses an amazing collection of vintage signage from all kinds of sources and covering many eras of retail advertising. Someone visiting the museum posted online an image of one particular piece of glass with hand lettering saying “gold leaf” in a bold Art Deco stencil style. Etched Stencil JNL was inspired by that image and is available in both regular and oblique versions.

The addition of serifs to an existing typeface can drastically change the look and feel of a design. Sign Card JNL and its oblique version is just such a treatment of Sign Shop JNL. By adding the serifs, there is not only a brand-new Art Deco typeface possessing a regal and formal style, but a distant resemblance to a Russian Cyrillic font with its mechanical form and function.

Our Luckiest Guy Pro was inspired by hand-lettering by vintage 1950’s advertisements. A 1967 ad for Aurora “Monster Scenes Custom Builder Kits” featured the drippy, gooey hand lettering long associated with science fiction and horror movies. The letters in the ad were auto-scanned and additional characters were completed with the end result being a horror-themed font with sharper angles and lines instead of drips. This is now available as Monster Movies JNL, which is available in both regular and oblique versions.

The 1888 edtion of James Conner's Sons United States Type Foundry specimen book listed this little gem simply as "Antique Light". Its original, rather anemic outlines have been beefed up and its serifs have been rounded, with the result that this face will get noticed wherever it goes. Both versions of this font include the complete Latin 1252 and CE 1250 character sets, with localization for Romanian and Moldovan.

Art Party is a hand-drawn font suitable for headlines of all kinds when you want a handmade look. Prissy Pots owner Erin Solomon drew the playful letters, which include regular and bold versions. Each face also offers an entirely separate set of upper and lowercase letters accessible in your applications' glyphs palettes. An online image of a grid page [circa 1930s] showing teachers how they and their students could create cut-out letters and numbers inspired Poster Project JNL. The typeface is available in both regular and oblique versions. Drunken Tower may look like a bit like my a Drunken Hour and Drunken Shower fonts. But there are a lot differences! This font is way more distorted and rugged than its brothers! The font has got Ligatures for double upper- and lowercase and numbers as well. Plus, an alternate version for each letter - again, both upper- and lowercase! This swoopy, loopy script was inspired by an “American roundhand” presented by John M. Bergling in his Art Alphabets and Lettering, first published in 1914. Bergling’s unique talent crafted uppercase letters which manage, at the same time, to be both elegant and ostentatious. The PC Postscript, Truetype and Opentype versions contain the complete Latin language character set (Unicode 1252) plus support for Central European (Unicode 1250) languages as well.

An ad spotted in a 1964 issue of Billboard magazine with the words “STAND BACK…” introduced the first record album from then-new stand-up comedian Bill Cosby. The lettering of those two words was in a stencil sans serif design that was a perfect candidate for developing into a digital font. The end result is Advertising Stencil JNL, which is available in both regular and oblique versions.

From the pages of the 1939 French lettering book “Modèles de lettres modernes par Georges Léculier” (“Models of Modern Lettering”) comes an attractive and unusual set of initial drop caps made from square letters adorned with multiple vertical lines. Originally designed as white letters on black backgrounds, an additional set with black letters on white backgrounds comprise Deco Drop Caps JNL; available in both regular and oblique versions.
