DrivEddie was an attempt to create a rough, hand-drawn typeface that was quirky but easily readable. It has a few serifs so it is almost but not quite san serif. All vertical stems are curved. For almost 25 years DrivEddie was a one-font family and one-font families often have limited applications. In 2020 I returned to this typeface to increase its possible uses by adding five new styles: italic, semibold, semibold-italic, bold, and bold-italic. I also corrected mistakes and added characters.

The impulse behind André Maaßen’s design of the Anno typeface was the design of a New Year’s card for the year 2000 (Anno 2000). His desire to create the perfect printed image developed into a family with four styles: Anno 1, Anno 1 Italic, Anno 2, and Anno 2 Italic. Anno 1 and its Italic are semi-classicist typefaces, with a high degree of stroke contrast, while Anno 2 and its Italic are semi-grotesks, with less stroke contrast. Both Anno 1 and Anno 2 are sans serifs typefaces, but they each offer a new interpretation of the genre. The Anno typeface may be used in a number of applications and sizes. And it is naturally suitable for New Year’s greetings and other cards, of course!

The sister fonts Andron 2 English and Andron 2 Deutsch provide a groundbreaking new possibility to render literature text bodies in a sophisticated traditional and yet modern way of type. In German typographic history there has once been a long-lasting struggle called the Frakturstreit (the blackletter quarrel). It was about wether German text ought to be composed in blackletter or rather in Roman type, a question upon which even Goethe, Schiller and other period celebrities got grey over time. However, blackletter type remained alive and has just recently seen an astonishing renaissance. This is not about a blackletter revisionism or some ‘mixture’ concept arguably bridging the gap between either worlds. Andron 2 English and Andron 2 Deutsch offer a new approach to circumvent that old antagonism. As for the lowercase letters I applied certain features of blackletter type onto the glyphs – but entirely abandoned the principle of the broken stroke as such. The result is a lowercase alphabet in the classical Andron style which may be considered an attractive alternative for text in English, German or even other languages. So it’s no longer entirely about choosing between ‘modern’ Roman or ‘ancient’ blackletter only. My goal in designing Zentral was to create a distinctive sculptural font intentionally in Regular and Italic only. I believe Zentral Regular and Italic has the latitude and flexibility needed in most type scenarios without having to resort to multiple weights. Zentral Regular upper/lowercase provides a very pleasant contrast and can be varied by using Zentral Regular capitals. Zentral Italic is ideal for creating emphasis of words, quotes or phrases. As a result of fascination for East European type design, MRF couldn’t resist to make a unique interpretation of a typeface named Pracht. Originally made by the Czech type designer Carl Pracht in 1941–43. Having a rather calligraphic style both in regular and italic, MRF preferred it to be more straightforward and modern-looking. The italic version was executed with traditional italic letters (a, f, g, k, v, w and y). The numerals were made in a classic manner as old-style figures. Can be treated as both a text and display font.
