Buratino font got its name from a title character of Russian fairy tale — a clone of Pinocchio. Initially font was cut from a log and then scanned and converted into outline format. Jalebi font is quite like its namesake, the Indian deep-fried sweet. It is fat(tening), uneven, crunchy and addictive. Balboa is a display design combining elements of early sans serif and grotesque types with contemporary types. It evolved from ATF Headline Gothic, Banner (a headline typeface I drew for the San Francisco Chronicle), and Newsweek No.9, a Stephenson Blake-like grotesque I designed for Roger Black's 1980 redesign of Newsweek Magazine. There are nine styles, including the three new styles that have been added in 2014: Medium, Light and Ultra Light.

Ask any typical New Yorker about subway directions and they'll tell you to take the "uptown line", "downtown line" or "cross-town line". Uptown Line JNL is yet another variation of the Art Deco monoline style of lettering prevalent during the 1930s and 1940s, and is based on titling from vintage sheet music for a Johann Strauss classical piece.

There, Moritz Kleinsorge decided to create a revival of Robert Granjon's "Ascendonica Romain", described as "a beautiful face; typical of Granjon's mature style" in the inventory list of available material. "To touch punches and matrices cut by Robert Granjon back in 1567 was an invaluable inspiration", Moritz explains. Over time, the typeface moved away from being a true revival. Rather, it evolved into a Granjon-inspired typeface. That typeface is now available as Allrounder Antiqua. The typeface was designed for ParaType in 2002 by Dmitry Kirsanov. Based on the Mesolithic images on stones were discovered in a prehistoric cave of Mas d’Asil, France. There is a great number of hypotheses explaining the function of the mysterious stones. They have been considered as vessels of souls, computation tools, fortune-telling and magic symbols, relics of prehistoric writing system.

If you've ever visited Spain or Portugal, you would have seen some beautiful Majolica (glazed tile) murals - often signage for long forgotten bakeries, butchers and clothing shops from the interbellum. Majolica font was named in honor of the artists who created these gorgeous glazed displays. Majolica font is an all caps, sans serif typeface with a 'streamlined' look. It comes with all diacritics.
