BLOCK CAPITALS is a square, geometric, small caps display face that avoids fashionable foibles and exudes the neutral, unpretentious functionality of time-honoured block lettering. The family has three widths (Narrow, Normal and Wide), and the Bold weights are loosely based on well-used squared nets – 3x5, 4x5 and 5x5. However, the typeface escapes its grid origins whenever necessary with slightly modulated stroke weights, sensitive spacing and careful kerning. It was my first attempt to drawing a Hebrew alphabet to mach directly with other typeface (Latin) which I already designed. The Latin version is an handwriting display typeface influenced by chancery handwriting from the Italian Renaissance (broad-nib pen). One of the most typographic characteristic is there wavy forms, especially the serifs, where contains some of the main calligraphic references from this font family. The Hebrew script contain reverse contrast, the vertical proportions are more tall and the stroke weight is slightly more strong than latin lowercase to produce a correct visual balance between them, especially on small sizes (text proportions). This Hebrew square book-hand was influenced by Sephardic script style. The Latin characters contains interrupted strokes, the same was made for Hebrew letterforms to transpose correctly the same calligraphic approach between these two different alphabets.

When did it start. One day I was designing some stuff for a fast food café. By style the Café was made as an old Soviet canteen. So I had to do a special accent on this in menu, advertising posters and other print products. I decided to do this by interesting old school font. There are many cool retro fonts on the Internet, but not one of them satisfied me on 100%. The next step was to look at the old posters and find some inspiration. So I found some cool pictures with exact letters that I needed, but there were no typefaces to buy so that I can print some text with this exact letters. Originally designed in 2012 by Ryoichi Tsunekawa, All Round Gothic is a font family inspired by classic sans serif fonts such as Avant Garde Gothic and Futura. Galena Pro is an extended version of Galena, a typeface published for Bayer Corporation in 1996. Galena Pro is based on the open and organic forms imagined by the writers of humanist Italy, who designed the first so-called Roman characters. Beriot is a sans serif whose basics are condensed in Regular (Normal) weight, getting a lot of form inspiration from the topic also known as Steile Futura which is a letterform that Paul Renner himself explored in the mid-1950s, where shapes are constructed with little stress on modular squares but there are changes in certain parts so they become less modular. The Beriot family is available in 42 weights with matching slanted cuts, divided into 3 subfamilies: Condensed, Normal and Expanded. Each has been designed for a range of text sizes each, and already variable, allowing you to choose and make your own type of weight you like. Arpona is a typeface with small wedge serifs and a strong character, ideal for corporate design and all projects characterized by a sense of individualism – for example art, fashion, food, beverage and lifestyle topics. Information displays have an aesthetic of their own. Functional design where transmission of information is key — and best in real time. The Realtime Rounded typeface is not meant to recreate the appearance of those applications, instead it takes inspiration from them.
