Some vintage Beacon metal door letters used for identifying addresses on home and business buildings was spotted in an online auction from England. Those few letters were the inspiration for Home Address JNL, which is available in both regular and oblique versions.

Derived from the world famous Rennie Mackintosh Font, the Moonlight version gives a hollowed effect with a drop shadow to the Classic Rennie Mackintosh lettering. The "Moonlight" name comes from one of Mackintosh's less well known watercolour paintings - The Harvest Moon (1892).

One day my kids asked me: ‘would you rather be healthy and poor or super rich and sick?’ Without a doubt I answered: ‘healthy and poor’. Having money is nice, but it is not what life is about. At least, that is what I believe. Radical Fortune is a font I made after a period in my life that could have ended with a really nice sum of money in my hands - but which I didn’t take. I had to give up too much of myself and that just didn’t feel right. I made Radical Fortune to keep me from thinking too much - and, symbolically, I used a really old and cheap marker pen to draw out the glyphs!

This came from a shop near Munich, Germany, and was a very poor proof with no font name on it. Never did identify it. When we cleaned it up, we liked it pretty well. We think it is typical of some early twentieth century art nouveau fonts.

Morro is based on simple geometric shapes – circles, triangles and rectangles. All 6 fonts use the characters A - K and a - k to show two planets/stars/moons moving across each other. Nice and simple. There's a different number of points on the stars, or they're different sizes, and some appear to pass left-to-right, and some appear to pass the other way. Just type in ABCDEFGHIJK or abcdefghijk and you'll see. Two fonts have all the characters on the same level, (All-Black and Black+White). The Offset font has the 'sun/moon' with one slightly above the other and in black and white, and Half has them all-black. Partial has them even further separated in 2-tone. NearMiss is a very close shave. Comma, hyphen, and full stop/period give just a single symbol; there's a Space, and that's it.

Happenstance came out of a play session with Bezier curves with a sense of fun built into its being. First came play, then came work. Thomas Edison once said,”Creativity is 1% inspiration and 99% perspiration.” Nikola Tesla thought the opposite. In this case, what started as inspiration took a lot of perspiration to corral into a usable font. So maybe the reality is a) different for different people or b) somewhere in the middle. Just sayin’.
