When work started on the design of Gelica, there wasn't the same glut of retro-ish soft serifs there is today, and if I'd managed to complete it quicker, it might have been more trendsetter than bandwagon jumper, but that's the way it goes sometimes! I still think it's useful and unique enough to be a worthwhile addition to your typographic arsenal. Although obviously influenced by Cooper, it actually owes more to the lesser known Goudy Heavyface and Ludlow Black, particularly in the concave serifs. I wanted the family to be friendly and approachable, but not overly cutesy, and usability was always the prime concern. A nice weight range with matching italics was a must, along with useful OpenType features, and various figure styles. This is a display family first and foremost, but is also comfortable at smaller sizes for longer copy, and so works well in a supporting role to a more exuberant titling font.

Strogino is a modern display pseudo-monospaced sans serif font. Due to the special design and some variants, all letters are easily identifiable though stuck together. It is as geometric as possible, being made with the simplest forms, capital letter sizes are exactly square. This allows to even create seamless patterns for backgrounds and watermarks. Diacritic can be added to any letter or even symbol and number, giving in total more than 1500 combinations! Strogino is perfect for logos, headings, titles, inscriptions, overlay text, backgrounds, and many more! Short paragraphs or quotes also look great with it. Linotype Flamingo, from German designer Michael Leonhard, is part of the TakeType Library, chosen from the entries of the Linotype-sponsored International Digital Type Design Contest 1999 for inclusion on the TakeType 3 CD. The figures of this font have pieces missing, the curve of an a, the stroke of an n. The eye fills in the gaps, allowing the designer to present a unique font with reductionist forms which can still communicate written ideas to the reader. A small number of forms come together to create the alphabet and the 'missing pieces' make a light and airy overall impression. Linotype Flamingo should be used in point sizes of 18 and larger and because of reduced legibility should be used only for very short texts.

Gudrun Zapf von Hesse designed the first sketches of Alcuin in 1986. The namesake of this typeface was an advisor of Charlemagne and was responsible for the writing reform of the Carolingian era. Alcuin was born in 735 in England, became an abbot in Tours and died there in 804. It was the idea of Zapf von Hesse to develop a modern text type based on the forms of the Carolingian minuscule. To create a text type that is excellent for a wide variety of applications, typical handwritten elements had to be discarded while still retaining the flow and character of handwriting. Alcuin with its strong calligraphic expression may be used in books, magazines, and also in the area of printed office communication.

While uniqueness might be considered the main goal among type designers, our goal in this project was to be as far away from that uniqueness as possible. We designed MB Grotesk with strictest typography standards, holding fast to the type axioms long understood from the beginning of modern typography. After more than 600 hours of work — creation, production & release — the whole typeface family the MB Grotesk is a flawless branching away from the original Grotesque category. Included are 351 standard glyphs designed with geometric rules and grotesque type theories. MB Grotesk has 7 weights & their italics. It supports many languages including most languages which use both Latin and Cyrillic alphabets. We are looking toward extending this family to include condensed, extended & Arabic versions as soon as possible.

Grandis ("chainlink") was initially intended for a first person shooter’s UI, so this guided the design. The font had to be readable while maintaining sci-fi feel and also to not rely on kerning (most video games don’t support it). This meant a large x-height, steep diagonals and squared bowls to reduce the amount of white space between letters. Tabular numbers as default facilitate UI design where timers or tables are involved. What makes the font stand out from similar grotesks is the letters’ classical proportions with wide bowls and narrow rectangles. The result is a readable, versatile workhorse with an interesting dynamic rhythm and where extreme weights/widths can also be used for display purposes. Siruca is a font created specifically for the Al Hamra Complex, in Kuwait City, which includes the extraordinary Al Hamra Tower, one of the tallest skyscrapers in the world.
