Newbery Sans is a new contrasted sans serif designed by Alejandro Paul and the Sudtipos team. As Paul has lately found inspiration from different German instructional books, Newbery Sans finds its initial inspirations from the lettering work of E. Nerdinger and invokes the spirit of German designs but is imbued with personality all its own. The idea was to make the letterforms more usable and suitable for everything from corporate branding to editorial. It is an elegant, functional family with contemporary detail that will effortlessly meet the demands of the screen and printed page. From a condensed thin to an expanded black, Newbery Sans provides a usable workhorse system of three widths and seven weights, each with the original design of real italics, a selection of alternate glyphs and a complete set of small caps. The font’s name nods to its imagined uses in airports and street signage: Jorge Newbery was one of the first Latin American aircraft pilots, Newbery is the street where I live and it is also the name of Buenos Aires’s local airport.

Casagrande Collection has been designed in 2020 by the Italiantype Team (Manuel Alvaro, Valentino Coppi and Mario De Libero), working in close collaboration with Italian lettering artist, illustrator and calligrapher Alberto Casagrande, with help from the Zetafonts Team (Francesco Canovaro, Andrea Tartarelli and Cosimo Lorenzo Pancini). The goal of the project was to use as inspiration Alberto's colorful, vintage themed digital illustration style to develop a suite of closely related typefaces that, used together, would allow designers to replicate the nostalgic charme of Italian poster and product design from the thirties and the forties. Two color overprints, coarse dithering, handmade calligraphy, reminiscences of art deco, hints of modernism and pop culture references: all this and more mixed in a exuberant and playful collection, created with illustrators, poster artists and book cover designers in mind. The final product is 24-font package with six display families with styles varying from the thirties-inspired Antifascista (3 weights + 3 dithering weights) and Deco (3 weights + 3 inline weights), to the modernist Casabau (5 weights), to the geometric Grind (4 widths), to the vintage elegance of the two script families, Reclame and Casatiello. The collection is complemented by a two-color icon set font, Casagrande Ornaments, allowing any designer to easily explore the creative possibilities of this incredibly powerful creative collection. Sharplion is a typeface family designed by Zeki Michael and Leyla Melis Aslan. In the early years of the twentieth century a number of romans with a soft and slightly script like quality were evolved. Although they did not represent the future in terms of the major design influences that were to appear after the First World War, they were a break with the past, and were developed further in the nineteen twenties and thirties. Monotype Bernard Condensed is closely associated with this period, a condensed roman evoking an easy charm.
