TT Geekette is an experimental variable* serif with friendly and flexible character of shapes. In this project, we wanted to get away from simplifications and dry geometry and to experiment with the smoothness, softness and plasticity of forms. And in order to make the project a little more stylish and serious, we decided to make the font monospaced. When creating TT Geekette, we did not rely on traditional writing techniques or on the influence of pen movement on the font pattern. Despite the fact that judging by certain characters TT Geekette is a serif, the font is specifically “built” and “drawn”. There are several systemic techniques in font design, such as “loops” which set the plastic rhythm for the entire typeface. Variability in TT Geekette is influenced by contrast buildup in the font—moving the slider to adjust the variability axis, you gradually move from a completely non-contrast monolinear serif font to a font with a pronounced reverse contrast. In addition, with the help of the variability slider, you can remove serifs from the monolinear essence of the font. The TT Geekette family consists of 3 styles: the TT Geekette Bones—monolinear font, the TT Geekette Muscles—reverse contrast serif, and the TT Geekette Variable font. Each style contains over 450 glyphs. The Siseriff family of types contains nine different styles, which were developed by the master Swedish typographer Bo Berndal in 2002. Siseriff is a contemporary slab serif face. Except for the Siseriff Black weight, all of the letters display a slightly condensed appearance that is coupled with a relatively uniform width throughout the alphabet. Siseriff's nine styles are distributed across five weights (Light, Regular, Semi Bold, Bold and Black). The Italic companions for these styles (Siseriff Black does not have an italic companion) are true italics. These redrawn italics add a higher degree of differentiation from the Roman weights than could be achieved with obliques alone. Many common Slab Serif families (e.g., Serifa) do not offer this degree of differentiation. This variety makes Siseriff the perfect choice for journalistic and editorial work, where a good hierarchy may be achieved solely by relying on the various weights available, and their italics. It was designed specifically for display, headline, logotype, branding, and similar applications. Display Black Serif Rough has an uppercase alphabet located under the character + shift keys and a complete set of alternate uppercase characters located under the character set keys. It also has numbers and punctuation.

Dragonflight Pro is a script collection of four modern calligraphy fonts. Each glyph was hand-drawn with a brass folded pen dipped in ink. The tip of the folded pen resembles the shape of a dragonfly’s wing, hence the name. By tilting the pen variations in line width are made. This produces fun, expressive letters with a spontaneous personality. The regular and rough version of Dragonflight Pro have alternate glyphs that can either be accessed by the swashes feature, stylistic set 1, or the glyphs panel, depending on the application you are using. There are lots of discretionary ligatures that offer even more variation. By typing _1 to _10 you can access bonus swashes that are part of Dragonflight Pro Regular and Rough. Comenia Sans was designed in the framework of a unique typographic project for all types of schools. It is a complementary face for Comenia Serif, released by our friends at Storm Type Foundry. Comenia Sans has a lot in common with its serif sister: the height of both upper and lower case, the length of ascenders and descenders, and the general weight. This makes the two perfect partners which work well even when set side by side in a single line of text. Comenia Sans does, however, lack all serifs, ornamental elements and stroke stress variation. All these elements freshen up the feel of long texts, but for shorter texts use, they are not necessary. Despite that, Comenia Sans retains the soft, friendly character of its big sister, as well as a few tiny details which lend it its unique character without compromising legibility or utility. Open counters give all letters an airy feel and permit enough variation in construction. This is why the face works well even in multiple-page texts. All its letters are easily distinguished from each other, so the reader's eyes are not strained. Diacritics and punctuation harmonize with both upper and lower case. As usually, all diacritical marks fully respect conventional shapes of accents and they are perfectly suitable for Czech, Slovak, Polish and other Central European languages, where a lot of diacritics abounds. Similarly to the renaissance italics which refers to the cursive forms, Comenia Sans introduces novel shapes of some characters drawing from the hand-written heritage. This is most apparent in the single-bellied a, the simplified g, and the stem of f which crosses the baseline and ends with a distinct terminal. In the text, emphasized words are thus distinguished not only by the slant of letters, but also by the shapes of the letters themselves. All twelve styles contain set of small caps, suitable for the names, in the indexes or the headlines in longer texts. Legibility in small sizes under 10 points was at the center of designers' attention, too. This is why the counters of a, e and g are large enough to prevent ink spread in small sizes, both on-screen and in print. After all, the font was specifically optimized for screen use: its sober, simple forms are perfectly fit to be displayed on the computer screen and in other low-resolution devices. When used in the context of architecture, the smoothness of all contours stands out, permitting to enlarge the letters almost without limit. A standard at the Suitcase Type Foundry, each style of Comenia Sans boasts a number of ligatures, an automatic replacement of small caps and caps punctuation, a collection of mathematical symbols, and several types of numerals which make it easy to set academic and other texts in an organised, well-arranged way. For the same purpose, fractions may come in handy, too. This type face fills one of the gaps between the world of Roman alphabets and that of linear alphabets. The first to be designed was the set of upper-case letters. The expression of these characters cannot conceal that they were originally intended only for the sculptor's use, as a type face for three-dimensional inscriptions. Their width proportions reflect a dialogue between the contemporary feeling and the legacy of classical Roman inscriptions. The type face was later complemented with a set of lower-case letters and elaborated into further designs. Its clear, concise letter forms end with small serifs which not only make the type face more refined, but above all anchor the individual letter signs visually to the horizontal of the text line. The austere construction of the majority of the letters is balanced by the more exuberant, humanizing forms of the most frequently used letters "a"; "e". (The three variants of the lower-case "e" enable to create rhythmically differentiated texts.) The letters in which a straight stroke is connected with an arch are designed in two ways. That means that the letters "n", "h","m" and the group of letters "b","d","p","q" are conceived in a different way. Thus an interesting tension is created in the structure of the text, which, however, does not endanger legibility. The economizing, slightly narrowed design of this type face predetermines its use for the setting of usual texts. In larger sizes, however, it produces a rather serious, even solemn, impression.

Patent Reclame manages to be light-hearted, while clearly showing its blackletter roots both in the shape of the individual letters and the rhythm of text on a page. The designer is unknown. Schriftgeisserei Flinsch of Frankfurt a.M. cast the face around 1895. Nicolete Gray shows a quite similar face called “Graphic,” from Stephenson Blake in 1896. Personally, I don't think that Patent Reclame looks like an English design, but I do not have any proof one way or the other. The numbers are proportional, intended for posters, not spreadsheets. Two ornaments are included, an art nouveau rose at #172 and a lilypad with long tendril at #177. Great for invitations, posters and flyers announcing fun events. Do not use for obituaries. Quite readable in smaller sizes for short blocks of text. I really like the buoyant quality -- a nice combination of discipline and enthusiasm.

In B-movie awesomeness, Air began as Grotesk vs. Grotesque. I was trying to unify the prevailing traits of German and English Grotes(que/k)s in order to make something different but familiar. I am NOT trying to reinvent Helvetica (snore), so get that out of your system. From the onset, I intended this typeface to be a true workhorse that offers infinite options and flexibility for the user. At its core, it is the maturation of the Aaux Next skeleton I developed years ago. I worked out Aaux Next to settle my issues and love for Akzidenz. With Aaux Next, I strove to be mechanical, cold and unforgiving with it. I was single, young, cocky and it fit. Now I'm married, kids, dog and have found that I've turned into a big softy. When I look at Aaux Next (and have for the past few years) I see another typeface trying to eek out. I wanted it to avoid the trappings of robotic sans, quick tricks and compromises. The typeface’s DNA needed to be drawn and not just generated on a screen — so I set aside a year. I love type. I love working with type. I hate when my options for a slanted complement is only oblique or italic. I set out to produce both to balance usage — there are more than enough reasons to prepare both and I want the user to feel free to consciously choose (and have the option to choose) the appropriate typeface for print, web, etc. That flexibility was central to my decision-making process. The Oblique is immediate and aggressive. The Italic was redrawn at a less severe angle with far more movement and, as a result, is far more congenial when paired with the Uprights. Condensed and Compressed. Yep, why not? I know I would use them. There are nine weights currently available. The logical progression of weights and the intended flexibility demanded I explore a number of light weights and their potential uses — this has produced a number of ‘light without being too light’ options that really work based on the size. The result is a robust 81-font superfamily that is functional, professional, and highly legible without compromising its personality. Pair that with over 900 characters per font that includes ligatures, discretionary ligatures, stylistic alternates, fractions, proportional/tabular lining and proportional/tabular oldstyle figures, numerators, denominators, ordinals, superiors, inferiors, small caps, case-sensitive functionality and extensive language support and you have a versatile superfamily well-suited for any project.

Studio Neon is an all-caps display font constructed with three rounded-end strokes; the lowercase set is included as a repeat of the uppercase to make setting type just that little bit easier. It’s a modern rendition of neon sign lettering, with a decidedly art deco pedigree, and is intended for use in larger sizes of type, upwards of 36 pt. It’s perfect for a design that wants to imitate neon — use Photoshop layer effects to light it up! I originally started this font with only a few letters, since I could not find a neon-style font made with 3 strokes that looked modern. (Once I started, I found out why. It's a LOT of work!) Most traditional neon fonts include a “bent tube” element in the design; however, not all modern neon signage is constructed with the tubes bent. I also wanted to design a fun font that would have more life than just as an imitation of signage — something to inspire designers who love the geometry of art-deco type. So I made all the corners consistent, with no references to bent tubes. Use this font for any application that needs a bold and decorative look. Studio Neon should work well for sign production and even vinyl cut applications at larger sizes.

Garagin Rock was developed from the studies for the title of a publication called Garagin in 1999. Its use is indicated for the titles on posters and stuff like that, but feel free to dare. Anyway, it really was not made ​​for small sizes and is not a WebFont obviously, but again, feel free to dare. May you notice something odd in the baseline position, this is to keep leading with a defined size. But of course you can change it in any editing program. Being a heavy typeface, use in moderation... or not! Garagin Rock Lite is a version with a limited set of characters.

Loosely based on a hand lettered title found on vintage sheet music for the song "Hong Kong", the design for Kwun Tong JNL emulates the letters and numbers formed from pieces of bamboo stalk. Kwun Tong JNL is named for a locality in Hong Kong although (according to Wikipedia) "the Hong Kong Government is unitary and does not define cities and towns as subsidiary administrative units."

One of the most friendly Slab Serifs just got even more friendly. Museo Slab Rounded is the latest addition to the Museo font family. It has updated letterforms, spacing and kerning. It can perfectly be combined with Museo Sans Rounded. It comes in six weights with italics, that are not just slanted regulars. Key characters have been changed to give the italics more flow.

Rudolph Ruzicka designed his font Fairfield as a legible text font. His philosophy: The reader expects optical assistance with reading. This font was inspired by the so-called Litterarum latinarum, quas italicas, cursoriasque vocant, scribendum Ratio (Louvain 1540), a manual intended for calligraphers by the well known scientist Gerhard Mercator. It was a magnificent “Cancellaresca corsiva” design, enriched with many alternates, final loops and ligatures. We have added a lot of accented and other characters required for modern use that did not exist in the original.

"Lekker" is an Afrikaans word, that does not quite have an English equal. I can sum it up with the following mixture of words: yummy, nice, fun, joy. That is what this typeface encapsulates. A fun, playful, informal and easy-to-read font with a few script ligatures. Lekker includes multilingual support for All Western Europe languages, as well as Afrikaan (of course). xx Susan

I don't have an Uncle Oscar, so the font is not named after someone I know. The name just kind of stuck. Uncle Oscar is a pencil font, made with a black ‘Lamy’ pencil I took from my son Sam’s pencil box. It is a little rough, but very legible and comes in Regular and Italic. Of course, Uncle Oscar speaks a lot of languages.
