Norberto, a CastleType original, is based on a Russian design from the late 19th century that in turn appears to be based on Bodoni. Guaruja Grotesk is the first Tipogra Fio family for headlines & body copy. The grotesque form factor is much inspired in the Modernism movement from the mid of 20th Century but the Italic weight is a great cursive contrast aside the Roman ones so you can make very brutalist layouts or craft humanist projects, without losing the communication between all the family. Do not be afraid to type words with uppercase I and lowercase L because this last one has its own personality so do others glyphs like Italic lowercase G, Y and K and the straight corners in the Roman uppercase A, K, V, W, X, Y and Z. The same curves and corners are transferred to the numbers, symbols and so on. If your text is in a latin alphabet even though has lots of diacritcs, Guaruja may get it done! Treatise was born in a notebook at the back of a boring lecture on immunology with the simple thought of “How can I make a serif more fun?” When writing a scientific treatise, there are not many options for making it enjoyable. However, some little quirks and fun features in the font can take the serious edge off the writing.... Treatise is a light and open serif with some design quirks, which give it a slightly calligraphic feel; a single -storey “a” and “g,” a visible stroke mark on the “o,” and a curved arm on the “k.” These features are subtle enough to fit into a paragraph of text but bold enough to give a title some character. The Treatise family includes a true italic and a heavy-struck style bold, and several OpenType features; standard and discretional ligatures, contextual alternatives, and different figure styles. Cypher is a techno looking font that attempts to employ the Gestalt principal of closure. It may, at larger sizes look like some sort of code or a bunch of dots and dashes, but when viewed at smaller sizes it falls together into legible words. This font family was first inspired by an experiment to try to make a legible upper and lower alphabet with the smallest grid possible that would still describe the letterforms. The original conclusion was that it could be done in a 3x6 grid. This made a fun design exercise, but it makes a lousy font. The grid was expanded a bit for aesthetic reasons to a 3x8 grid, But not restricted so severely and so occasionally goes wider than 3 for the certain letterforms. From this a whole family of widths and weights was born, and rather than simply obliquing for italics, a true italic of sorts was created. Cypher is a versatile family of 24 fonts – 4 widths, each with 3 weights and their accompanying italics.

One of the most remarkable characteristic of this humanistic sans serif is its versatility. Ronnia’s personality performs admirably in headlines, but is diffident enough for continuous text and small text alike. The heavier weights deliver very cohesive shapes, and they have been successfully used for branding and newspaper headlines. The design of the Tabwa font was inspired by the font Neuland designed by Rudolf Koch in 1923. Rather than attempting to re-create his font in a digital form as so many others have done, I have tried to capture the "spirit" of his font and merge this with the spirit of Africa. As a result the characters differ markedly from Koch's original styles and have much less of an "Art Deco" look to them. To further modernize the font I have included all the characters missing in Koch's original (a full lower case, as well as all punctuation, diacritics, special characters etc). The result is a thoroughly modern re-interpretation of the original "Neuland". The numbers (0 to 9) bear no relation to Koch's originals but, I believe, are far more in keeping with the alphabetic characters in the font. The triangles that decorate the characters of this African font are typical of the patterns found in the Tabwa culture of central and west Africa (in the Congo region).

Antica has sharp triangular serifs, and in 8 weights with true italics, it forms a family that stylistically finds its origins in Latin styles of the nineteenth century. The font incorporates additional swashes, small caps and stylish alternates that advance the aesthetic from its roots and make it appropriate for modern design. Commonly named ‘Latin types’ did not vary in weight, but we decided to create Antica with a range that goes from thin to black and we also added extra curlicues to the letterforms. Antica borrows from the versatility and freedom granted to type founders of the nineteenth century – a time when the meteoric growth of mass-produced consumer goods led to an increased demand for publicity that needed fresh, attention grabbing typefaces. And as an homage to these Latin types we designed Antica to function well with an array of projects from stylized labels and formal editorial design requiring small type sizes to large-scale posters and billboards. The Antica family supports a wide variety of Latin alphabet-based languages.

The initial inspiration for the typeface came from examining precisely machined labels on tools of various kinds, from cameras to cars, which need to be perfectly legible at all sizes. ‘Пивная’ (Pivnaya) means ‘bar’ or ‘brewhouse’ in Russian. Pivnaya Latin is a display font published by Roman Type. Initially designed for a poster, the family quickly turned multi-script. In 2019, the global design community is busy celebrating the centennial of Bauhaus, silently triggering the question as to if or how the phenomenon matters in the lives we lead today, or whether it could rather be reduced to mere historic purposes. At that point, I found myself falling into the Bauhaus trap myself, preparing a typeface design workshop for a group of Lithuanian and Russian students. But by a typing error, I accidently made Google translate ‘Brauhaus’ (brewhouse) instead of ‘Bauhaus’. That is why I called this family ‘Pivnaya’ in the end. Pivnaya Latin works for: Afrikaans, Albanian, Catalan, Croatian, Czech, Danish, Dutch, English, Estonian, Finnish, French, German, Hungarian, Icelandic, Italian, Latvian, Lithuanian, Maltese, Norwegian, Polish, Portugese, Romanian, Slovak, Slovenian, Spanisch, Swedish, Turkish, Vietnamese, Zulu. Though being a decorative font, the International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA) increases usability for all kinds of purposes.

Fazeta Sans is a perfect companion to serif typeface Fazeta. Two light weights were added, so the complete typeface consist of 14 fonts (7 weights + matching italics). The fine gradation lets you choose perfect weight for any type of project. Every font have 1140 glyphs – just like the serif version and contains the same features, so use and combining of whole typeface is very comfortable. Also fixed kerning allows better comfort for eyes by reading and shortens the length of the text. I tried to preserve sharp and cold impression from serif version, but some straight lines had to be curved due to the natural limitation of sans typefaces (for example the upper arch of “f” is shaped more smooth). However it keeps extremely open form. A little playfulness was left at the end of letters “k, K, and R”, but if you want, this can be eliminated by using a rigorous SS01 feature. Serifs were here transformed into a small yaw from main stroke and so enlive the monotony of sans kind of types. Also slight cutting the top of the letters helping to surprisingly vivid final impression. A stylistic and square outline font suitable for headlines and logos. The original font contained no diacritics at all, so I have designed these to match. I also made the descenders on "g/j/p/q/y" a bit longer - so they would balance better with the letters with diacritics below the letter... I redesigned the "t", but have included the original "t" as an alternate, available via your programs' glyph palette or using the OpenType functions "Stylistic Alternates"/"ss01". Genotype S BRK Pro is the perfect companion for Genotype H BRK Pro (The H stands for Hollow and the S stands for Solid). Can be used as a fill for its companion (using layers), but is also quite a usable font on its own.
