Draughtwork is a special decorative font designed to have the look of a work in progress, showing the process of constructing letters using a ruler and a compass on a grid. It's in the tradition of our very popular Roughwork font, but more detailed and with additional features. Unlike Roughwork, Draughtwork includes a full upper and lower case character set plus some special alternate character variants. Developing Draughtwork was a monstrous task. The complexity of the 9x9 grids with each character were a challenge to the rendering capacity of Fontographer and required an extraordinary amount of fine tuning - but the result was worth the effort.

An Uber-Black Sans Serif with a Warm Personality Latitude Sans began as a digitization of a film typeface from LetterGraphics known simply as "Free". Favarotta was a small settlement on the medieval times. in the Gulf of Castellammare near Palermo, Sicily. Favarotta font is inspired on the style of writing based on Carolingian models, which continued to be used for handwritten liturgical works in Italy. The style show close affinities with the Italian printed books of the period. It combines Roman cursive writing ideas with some of the Celtic innovations in insular writing, including four guide lines, with strokes that flow smoothly from the ascending and descending. Favarotta font family contain five weigh and its corresponding italics. The Italic style are clearly legible and attractively set out, without obvious idiosyncratic tendencies. These fonts can be read and display with pleasure. Each font of the family contain standard ligatures, small caps, old style numerals and support CE languages.

A crispbake is a kind of cracker or rusk you eat for breakfast. At least, in Holland we do. They are called 'beschuit', they are round and they come in a pack of 13 (which is a baker's dozen). It turns out that this odd number of crispbakes in a pack comes from the fact that the ovens they were baked in held 13 crispbakes in a row and it was easier to pack them like that. So, should this question pop up during a game of trivial pursuit, you now know the answer! Crispbake font is a crunchy brush font. Completely handmade using a brush and Chinese ink. This fresh all caps font comes with a set of alternate glyphs and extensive language support, including Vietnamese and Greek.

Sturdy is designed to be as black as possible yet still legible. As an OpenType Pro font it has my normal complement of around 500 characters. New to this font I have added what I call ordinals: first through tenth in addition to Caps, lowercase, small caps, lining, oldstyle, and small caps figures, ligatures, and so on.

Epilepsja is an all-caps type family perfect for display works. It has been derived from stencil-sprayed and painted letters in the city space. The glyphs are simple but unordinary. Every letter has something from 3D illusion, but is flat simultaneously. The main feature and asset of this family is the ability to create multicolor text. Epilepsja consists of three styles: Outline, Solid and Fill. Outline is the base from which the other two styles are created. When you mix Solid with Fill, you can create two-color Outline style. Solid is neat and legible in small sizes. Yink takes big, bulbous, ball terminals up a notch, by repeating the shapes not only in the black but in the white space too. This interplay between black and white shapes is reminiscent of the yinyang symbol in places, which is where the name Yink originates. It's a shamelessly over-the-top font, and should be set large. There's a handful of OpenType features, including ligatures and alternates: Ligatures for ff, fft, ft, tt, gj Alternates are grouped into stylistic sets: 1. An alternate u, possibly more legible, but definitely not as much fun! 2. Again, a more boring version of m, just in case the default is ambiguous. 3. A more exuberant L 4. This typeface family was inspired by a set of fonts, designed in the Garamond style, used for an edition of Remarques critiques sur les œuvres d’Horace by “D.A.E.P.”, published in Paris in 1689 by two different booksellers: Deny Thierry and Claude Barbin. We can see some differences in comparison with our “pure” Garamond (see our 1592 GLC Garamond), particularly in the lowercase of the Normal style and the uppercase of the Italic. Unfortunately, we know neither the name of the punchcutter, nor that of the printer. This complete font set contains small caps, fractions all the way up to 1999/1999, historical and standard ligatures, and all of the fleurons contained in the edition (Normal style only). The alphabet covers all Western, Eastern and Central European languages (including Celtic diacritics) and Turkish.

The origin of this font was a frieze in the RAF Chapel in Westminster Abbey which Michael Harvey was commissioned to design and create. It was comprised of the names of the top brass in wartime Bomber Command, namely Dowding, Harris, Newall, Tedder, Portal and Douglas. The Brief was to cut the letters in bronze and gild them. Instead, they were cut in perspex and gilded. To sit comfortably within the long and narrow vertical space available beneath the chapel’s stained glass window, extended letterforms were used with many vertical serifs omitted and with lengthened horizontal serifs. Some twenty years later, the missing upper-case letters were drawn together with the lowercase letters and Frieze, the font, was born. Subsequently, additional weights and styles were added to create a font family of six styles.

Australian designer and art director Wayne Thompson has loved typography “ever since I received a battered second-hand Letraset catalog at the age of 10.” He based ITC Django on the handwriting of an acquaintance -- “a fellow I know who writes and illustrates children's books and is also a commercial artist” -- who called himself Django, after the jazz guitarist Django Reinhardt. “I felt that that name Django suited the funky, lively feel of the face,” says Thompson. But he adds, “Django has a split personality: it appears loose and easy at first, but after looking at it for some time I felt an edginess come through that was slightly psychotic.” The looseness of the lowercase contrasts with the spikiness of the capitals. The “edginess” is especially apparent in words in all caps.

Have you ever seen lettering that you can connect with but have no clue where you've seen it before? It strikes a chord with certain feelings but you don't know why. Slim Pickens was inspired by the lobby card and poster titling from the 1949 Doris Day film "My Dream is Yours", and keys into the look and feel of vintage handwritten film poster titling. Richard Lipton’s inspiration for Englewood came from the calligraphic hand of Philip Grushkin. Lipton has always admired his somewhat loose but disciplined hand and felt that it was worthy of keeping this style alive in a typeface that could be a somewhat accurate emulation of the warmth and life found in these letterforms. Spontaneity is a challenge to capture in a type treatment but with Englewood, Lipton hopes to honor Mr. Grushkin with a design that works especially well for an invitation, a menu, or in any display setting that calls for an informal calligraphic hand. This single weight display script includes small caps — somewhat of a rarity for a handwritten script — for flexible typesetting, along with 42 alternates that include 18 contextual ligatures to simulate the appearance of spontaneous writing.

Inspired on posters by the extraordinary polish artist Leszek Żebrowski, Polygraph is a highly unusual face. Packed with eccentric alternates, it is an all-caps font with four exchangeable variations for each letter. These alternates are programmed to cycle when the font is used in OpenType-savvy programs, creating a random effect on glyphs distribution. The resulting pieces are truly outstanding, with an audacious handmade twist. To achieve this, just turn on the contextual alternates feature and play – you can easily try different glyphs sequences by adding spaces before words. Gill Sans is a humanistic sans serif family that, while is considered by many to be quintessentially British in tone and concept, has been used in virtually every country and in nearly every application imaginable. Gill Sans has reached this level of near-ubiquity for one simple—and very good—reason: it is an exceptionally distinctive design with a potential range of use that is almost limitless. This toolkit family includes a wide range of styles including the standards such as Light—which is open and elegant—and a Regular that, with its flat-bottomed d, flat-topped p and q and triangular-topped t, has a more compact and muscular appearance. Another jewel of the vast treasure of historical font designs was digged out and brought to life again. Due to the courtesy of the Quay Brothers, London, who yielded to me an age-old brochure of Albert Auspurg’s ‚Miami‘, released by Schriftguss in 1934, I was able to redesign this elegant font. This font which I called ‚Elbflorenz‘, a cognomen for Dresden, contains West and Central European type faces as well as those for Romanian and Turkish. To get access to the historical number sign please use either the OT feature additional ligatures or ordinals.

Rockner is a family of fraktur typefaces designed by the calligrapher/designer Julius de Goede. Like all Blackletter styles, fraktur evolved out of Northern Europe's medieval manuscript tradition. Fraktur was the most used Blackletter variety between the sixteenth and twentieth centuries. Unlike many similar fraktur font families, Rockner is available in three weights: Regular, Medium, and Bold. This flexibility allows for richer design possibilities. The OT fonts contain the many alternate characters, such as the long s and historical ligatures, which are often necessary for the setting of historical documents.
