This typeface is based on Albrecht Dürer’s work “Die Underweysung der Messung” (Institutiones Geometricae, Instruction in Measurement). Please note that this font needs special treatment when typesetting text. If you need black text, you need to type just capital letters separated by spaces. If you need coloured text, type both lower case and upper case (with the lower case character first), and then assign a colour to the lowercase letters only.

The inspiration for this exuberant exercise in penmanship was found in Frank H. Atkinson's A Show at Sho-Cards: Comprehensive, Complete, Concise, published in 1918, executed with the then-state-of-the-art Payzant Reservoir Pen. It retains its quaint charm, even after almost a century. Both versions of this font contain the complete Unicode 1252 (Latin) and Unicode 1250 (Central European) character sets, with localization for Romanian and Moldovan.

My concept was to create an elegant condensed typeface that would be a "typeface for the millennium," in style and functionality. At the very core of all my designs is a typographic problem I wanted to solve, or a market niche that I think needs filled. Verve addresses both of those concerns, without copying or borrowing from its predecessors. There’s the challenge of creating a rich and interesting typeface with an austerity of line and elegance of form. I’m a minimalist by nature – but I wanted Verve to have a sensuous feel in certain respects – yet have that sensuality balanced by the uniformity of the uniform character widths. Gottfried Pott always stresses "theme and variation," and "point and counterpoint," and that’s what I’m doing in Verve. What one finds in musical composition is evident in Verve. Perfect for book covers, CD packaging, club flyers, retail packaging (especially bottles!), identity design and multimedia. The adventurous can try it in text, but it will give you a headache. The beauty of Verve is in thesize and weight variations which create a rich typographic texture in this font.

After visiting Milan, I stumbled upon the Sforza castle, and found some interesting type on the inner courtyard castle walls. I became inspired by what I found, and decided to design a typeface based off of the limited quirky letterforms. Thus Sforza was born, with ligatures galore, alternates, pictograms, and swooshes. Sforza is a roman style typeface with a quirky flair. It has loads of ligatures, nested letterforms, and tails and swooshes for endless combinations.

By now, 36 versions for over 70 Latin and Cyrillic languages have become available, including Small Caps. Digital Sans Now is also available as a webfont and reflects, with its simplified and geometric construction and its consciously maintained poster-like forms as well as with its ornamental character, the spirit of the decorative serif-less headline typefaces of the 1970s. The basic severity of other grotesque typefaces is here repressed by means of targeted rounds. Exactly these formal breaks allow the impression that it could be used in a variety of visual applications. Short texts, headlines and logos of all descriptions are its domain. Massive text suits my Only Kidding very well. Even at small sizes it is super legible, and it really keeps that handmade image. At larger sizes the crunchiness really comes forward and may surprise you how detailed edges the letters has got! Collette was named in honor of an art deco font called "Independent" designed in the 1930s by Collette and Dufour. Collette is influenced by the design of the original font, however, there are substantial differences: instead of small caps, a true lower case was created, the upper case character proportions and shapes have been greatly modified, and all missing characters have been created to make a truly modern font which nevertheless has all of the panache of the original. Since I am still in a Japanese mood, I decided to name this font after my favourite pastime in Japan: hunting for the smallest, nicest sushi bar in town. After all, there’s just nothing like eating freshly made sushi and washing it all down with a cup of green tea or a warm sake.
