Broadgauge Ornate originated from MacKellar, Smiths & Jordan in 1869 and was only available as an all caps font with numbers. Today this old beautiful wood type rises again from the archives complete with original numbers and an all new lowercase. An all caps Greek character set has also been added plus accented characters for western, central and Eastern European countries. Included in each font file are two sets of left and right pointing hands located on the Less Than and Greater Than keys and also on the Bracket keys. Because this font works well with a Las Vegas theme I've decided to make the pointing hands gambling related with one set of hands rolling dice and the other holding cards. The condensed versions were created because in today's computer graphics applications people stretch and condense fonts to fit their project but don't notice the change in vertical stroke widths or line thickness. After compressing the letter shapes of each Broadgauge Ornate condensed font the vertical lines were corrected making sure they were the proper width or thickness. The results are balanced condensed versions that weren't simply compressed with out consideration for their appearance.

The Postea font family is Veronika Burian and José Scaglione’s take on German geometric typefaces, reshaped with the right attributes for setting paragraphs and headings, and perfect for branding and text use. Some typefaces are a rough tool, like a pumice rock: abrasive to the senses, unforgiving, and unhelpful for most reading situations. Setting the test word ‘bogarts’ brings all this together nicely, invoking a balance between a constructed and human feel while brushing away the dust from a century of derivatives. Postea is opinionated and its modern stylistic sets allow it to be accommodating with softer, specially-designed alternative characters. SS01 replaces ‘b, f, M, m, t’, while SS02 changes only the lowercase ‘a’ to the round style, and SS03 swaps out the angled ‘y’ for a straight version. The fourth and sixth stylistic sets are packed with wallpaper-worthy geometric patterns, ornaments, arrows, and symbols aplenty. Postea’s 14 styles (seven upright and italic) and two variable fonts are accompanied by an all-new family of icons in three weights, which we developed a new, easy way to activate. Simply bookend the desired icon name with colons (:arrowUp: :chargingStation: :aid: :firstAid:), making sure to capitalise each word after the first word, then highlight and activate SS05. Named for Algonquin Round Table wit Heywood Broun, Heywood is bold, but playful. The simplicity of the letters combined with the shifting baseline make this the least formal and most fun of The Algonquin Collection of fonts.

Naomi is a rough script with extremely long ascenders and descenders that make it elegant despite the roughness. The script is based on my script Nana but it cannot be mixed because Nana is not rough-edged.

Pixel Pants is my wanna-be 1980-ies pixelfont. Well, it really looks like a pixel font, but it's kid of fake - at larger sizes you will notice the wacky and uneven lines, but it sure do bring back memories of the 80-ies! I've made 5 different versions of each letter - just to break the monotony of the usual pixel font! Insert coin and enjoy!

This is not a brush font! This is an imitation of brushstrokes, done by pen. But I guess you've already noticed that - the brushstrokes are way too obvious, to have been made by brush. Although being a "fake", the letters leaves you with quite a good impression. Letters were inspired by an old horror movie poster, but is very useful for something less terrifying!

Amelia Jayne is Ted Staunton's updated revision and expansion of his own Amelia decorative cap font. The Englishman William Caslon (1672-1766) first cut his typeface Caslon in 1725. His major influences were the Dutch designers Christoffel van Dijcks and Dirck Voskens. The Caslon font was long known as the script of kings, although on the other side of the political spectrum, the Americans used it as well for their Declaration of Independence. The characteristics of the earlier Renaissance typefaces are only barely detectable. The serifs are finer and the axis of the curvature is almost or completely vertical. The overall impression which Caslon makes is serious, elegant and linear. Next to Baskerville, Caslon font is known as the embodiment of the English Baroque-Antiqua and has gone through numerous new interpretations, meaning that every Caslon is slightly different. ITC Caslon 224 was designed by Edward Benguiat and appeared with ITC in 1982. It is the text font which expanded upon the title font ITC Caslon 223. The alterations in the proportions of the letters make this Caslon 224 a noticeable departure from the original, but make the font overall more legible.

Originally drawn in 1985, Jovica Veljović had intended to add a few kerning pairs and make some minor refinements to the letterforms. However, his work lead him to take a fresh look at the family. Veljović recalls, … I soon realized that some characters could benefit by more refined shapes and proportions. By the time I was done, I had worked on just about every character in the original design." In fact the end result is two systems: one optimized for extended texts; the other for display settings. The original elegance of the design is not lost, but the new design brings with it letterforms that are altogether more harmonious and balanced. Ellida is a very elaborate and elegant script in the tradition of the 18th-century English calligrapher George Bickham and the 19th-century American calligrapher Platt Rogers Spencer. I really enjoyed designing this script and maybe one day I will add starting and ending letters. Doing this script was extremely time- and brain-consuming, it is a huge challenge to make calligraphic letters work on computers so that they join perfectly. That's also the reason that this has become my most expensive font so far, but I think the price is fair for the incredible amount of work I put into the script. I had a chat recently with a customer who is a big fan of lettering from the psychedelic poster era. The discussion got me thinking about poster lettering we hadn't yet made into fonts, and a particular sample from a Jimi Hendrix poster I had played around with but never finished making into a font. So I went back to the drawing board and the result is the new Hendrix font. Unlike many of our other Psychedelic fonts which are stripped down to their basic character forms, this font includes the outlines characteristic of a lot of poster lettering from that period. It also includes variant versions of a number of the characters

Sagan was designed as an alternate to Ramsey ; you could call them brothers. It was drawn, redrawn, and expanded on, to put it lightly. This is the display version of Librum. Librum means “book” in Latin, which I thought was appropriate. Bream is Latin for proclaim—appropriate for display work. The fonts are very close to Librum-Book and Librum-Italic, with the same OpenType features. The glyphs are modified a bit to make them a little more elegant, but that’s not very noticeable. Mainly, the letterspacing and kerning is tighter and more carefully fit to large point sizes. As for classification, I like oldstyle, Venetian, geralde, English oldstyle. There’s discrete modulation, slanted crossbars, full brackets serifs of medium thickness and sharp cut ends. This all started with a love for Jenson. I know there're hundreds of variations on that theme. But, that is where I began, several years ago. How far it came, as usual as I wandered through the vagaries of font design, is not unusual. If you've read any of my font design books, you know my design processes are quite loose and spontaneous. I wanted the general feel of a favorite old font, but softer, easier, and more comfortable. I built these on the same vertical metrics as my Librum Publishing Group. However, this family is not part of that group. I used the metrics because that shows my current taste in fonts. This family does work with the Librum group—but to be honest, I haven't experimented enough to come up with a good companion. I suspect I'll need to make another companion family. I may need make a non-modulated bold version also. But, that remains to be seen. I'm pleased with this.

Now everyone can create simple pieces of graffiti in an easy way. With all our experiences in the real graffiti scene combined with our skill in creating fonts, we create these "Street Pieces." This is a simple version of a wildstyle graffiti piece; you can clearly read the font; unlike heavy wildstyle, which not everyone can read clearly, your message is still clear with this font. It's very easy to use, but for a better result, you should adjust the kerning and lead manually because the real graffiti is like that, and use your own graffiti style because there are no rules in graffiti. Trapped home during the Coronavirus outburst of March 2020 the Zetafonts team found some solace from the world-wide anxiety by designing letters for the #36daysoftype challenge. To fight dark thoughts and spread some good karma we decided to add a free font twist, selecting the best glyphs drawn to develop a collection of ten free typefaces for download. We did our best to make this little gift to the community valuable, though developed in record time: although playful and excessive, these typefaces all stem from our current research in contemporary trends and historical design solutions, bridging calligraphy and design. The typefaces have been published daily starting Monday, March 30. You can download and use the typefaces in any way you desire, as they are totally free for commercial and non-commercial use. We are not asking anything back, but feel free to share the good karma and, if you want, please consider a donation for hospitals.

The Richie™ typeface grew out of a lettering experiment inspired by the work of Czech type designer Oldrich Menhart (1897-1962). Menhart’s typefaces were primarily text designs with a strong personal calligraphic influence. Monotype Studio designer, Jim Ford, wondered what a display typeface from Menhart might look like, and began drawing bold script characters with a broad-tipped chisel marker. “It was a familiar but laborious exercise,” explains Ford, “I tried to achieve an authentic – yet controlled – randomness that would serve as the foundation of a typeface.” Ford first drew a large suite of characters using the marker. All the drawings were then carefully adjusted, and scanned. Ford then pieced together a typeface from the best versions of letters, and refined those further. The result is a rugged, somewhat eccentric and playful script built on an obvious hand-drawn foundation. In a world of smooth scripts, the Richie design is heavy, chunky and rough. Its hand-made feel and vigorous rhythm put the power of raw brush lettering into the typographer’s hands.
