Ramp Age was originally made with a brush, but I wanted a more rough look to it. I manually traced the brush-strokes with short, straight lines, making the font more characteristic in its look. Can be used for grafitti things, but fits in the horror-genre as well!

Distinguishing characteristics of Frank Marciulano’s Linotype Automat™ are its strictly constructed basis and its uniquely placed stroke contrasts. Oceanside Sans is a display typeface produced in 2022 by Bepop Font Foundry. This typeface was born out of a month-long trip to the Bahamas. The scenery, both natural and architectural, was stunning, yet restrained. Each settlement featured its own flavor of beautiful hand-painted signs promoting local businesses - fresh fish & Conch, liquor, ice, gifts, and more. Oceanside pays homage to the visual vernacular of the islands we visited during our stay.

Built in 1928 in Wichita, Kansas, the Uptown Theater started out as a movie house, but today still exists as a dinner theater. Online images of this vintage venue’s perpendicular wall sign show the theater’s name in an Art Nouveau influenced angular style with rounded terminals – similar to that of pen drawn sign lettering of the era. Pixter straddles the lines between the extreme forms of grid based pixel fonts, and more conventional grotesque fonts. Its array of styles create a palette of textures to work with multiple scenarios, from large format display to oversized passages of copy. Inspiration for Pixter initially grew from old computer bitmap fonts, but branched out into Swiss and Dutch graphic design, such as the graphic work of Josef Müller-Brockmann and typography of Wim Crouwel.

There really is no nonsense in this font - but the name comes from my original sketches, where I drew a lot of nonsense! Actually, I couldn't figure out what letters to use from the sketches, so I picked them all!!! That's why each letter has 10 different versions! And what is cool is that they automatically cycles as you type. All you have to do is turn on Contextual Alternates, and the rest is magic!

I’m not particularly fond of beans. I do eat them, but they’re not my idea of a delicacy… But this font has ‘fairy tale’ feeling to it, and I liked the name Beanstalker. Beanstalker is a hand made font (I used a fineliner to draw the glyphs). It is quite neat and organized, but does come with some rough edges and a bit of texture.

Coil feels comfortable like a well-worn pair of shoes. It could easily pass for an assertive industrial European sans serif of the early 1960s with its slight reverse contrast, monotonous proportions, and squared-off curves, if not for its less predictable side. What appears initially as ellipses upon closer inspection turns out to be irregular shapes, closer to an inverted egg than an oval. The s looks topsy-turvy with its higher curve that is larger than the lower. Some terminal strokes overhang the bowl (as in the a), others open flat (as in the Q, the f, the j, and the t). The resulting effect shakes up this seemingly “retro” face just to make it new. Our midcentury recollections are slightly distorted and reinterpreted by this ironic typeface making it fresh while deceptively cozy and familiar. Coil’s high x-height and even texture make it readable even in small sizes despite its tight apertures. Available in four weights with their italics, with two sets of figures, fractions, and alternates for Extended Latin and Cyrillic scripts. Designed by Vyacheslav Kirilenko and Gayaneh Bagdasaryan, 2020-21.

The hand lettered title found on the 1924 sheet music for the tango “Sentimiento Gaucho” (“Sentimental Gaucho”) offered a different take on the thick-and-thin lettering that permeated the late 1920s through the Art Deco age. A ‘slash’ or ‘swipe’ is cut through the characters (similar to “Directa JNL” – another take on this type of design). Last Tango JNL is the digital recreation of this novelty lettering and is available in both regular and oblique versions.

At first glance, Quigley might look like any ordinary font. Take a closer look. Quigley is reminiscent of an art deco font with a "twist", having unusual and amusing character shapes. Ideal for signage and as display type, but works nicely for body text as well.

Exmachino is a rounded geometric monoline display font. Taking inspiration from futurism and minimalism, the letterforms convey an uncompromising machine-like quality. Many futuristic geometric fonts only have uppercase characters but Exmachino attempts to bring the unorthodox geometric styling to a full set of characters and weights.

I have been walking around the streets of Bangkok with my good old film camera taking photos the way like back in the day. I think there is something magical and authentic in it. Guess what, the first day I went out with that camera I stumbled upon a place is called Fotoclub BKK they develop film rolls how cool is that! I shoot all the 36 photos at the Silom area, taking random photos most came out off centred subject, wrong settings, blurry just like the way I wanted! Soon after I was working on a handwritten script that is a perfect match to the overall topic of my stay in Bangkok so I named it after this exceptional adventure I have had here. The font contains all European diacritics and special characters, some double letter ligatures and stylistic alternates for better flow and more organic and natural look. So don’t go giving it a run-out on body copy; FS Kitty is an all-caps font made for showing off in posters and headlines, and on products, point-of sale and especially sweets. Blubber Kitty had been quietly curled up in Phil Garnham’s sketchbook for a year before he brought it out to be brushed up. “It was in the mix as a basic form when I started thinking about FS Lola. It was a twisted, bubbly beauty – quite squishable and huggable. The working file was called Blubber. “At that time it was a basic construction of strokes. I created the ‘A’ first, purely as a shape to play with, not as type. I flipped it for ‘V’, and copied that for a ‘W’. I flipped the ‘W’ for an ‘M’... I thought, ‘This looks a bit wacky, but I like it,’ and just carried on. The most tricky characters were the ‘B’ ‘P’ and ‘R’. I must have drawn about 20 kinds of B for this, just to get it to fit.” Variety “When the regular weight of Kitty had been designed,” says Jason Smith, “it just felt like a natural progression to go on and explore how far we could go with it: Light, Solid, Headline, Shadow.” Phil Garnham thinks there’s still more to come. “There are some really individual characters in this font that I think have yet to be exploited: the Greek Omega symbol, the strange face in the ampersand. Like Bagpuss, Kitty has kept a low profile so far. “We know people are using Kitty. In fact, it was the first of any of our fonts that we sold on the day it was released. But I still haven’t seen it out there in the wild. It’s going to be a exciting moment.”

I used to be a tour guide and spent a lot of time in Asia. One thing that I really liked, was having noodles, ANY kind of noodles, for breakfast! Breakfast Noodles is a very uncomplicated headline font: I made it while seriously renovating our ‘new’ home (a fixer upper farm), which means that this particular font was made over a period of almost 3 months… It wasn’t exactly a letter at a time, but close. I will try and make the next font in, say, under two months… Hopefully! In the meantime, enjoy this one!

A Tarte Tatin is a French upside down apple pie. The story goes that one of the Tatin sisters (who ran Hôtel Tatin in Lamotte-Beuvron 169 km south of Paris), was baking a regular apple pie, but put the apples first and, realising her mistake, tried to rescue the dish by adding the pastry and sticking it in the oven. Tarte Tatin is a really nice all caps font. It was made with a Japanese brush pen on rough paper. Tarte Tatin comes with extensive language support and a set of alternates for the lower case letters.

Ant Serif is a font that can be used for advertising, logo creation, webfonts and more. The font comes in two styles, Regular and Italic and has all the characters in the Latin Basic, Additional and Extended scripts. The font's design came from my love of Marvel's Ant-Man and the Wasp logo. The typeface used, which was custom, was of interest for me, so I decided to create it as a font. Weeneez JNL is an out-and-out novelty font made entirely of hot dogs. The font contains only the alphabet and numerals and a few other symbols including basic punctuation marks.

When I released Halogen, I asked ‘Who doesn't want or need an expansive contemporary extended sans that has a sense of style and swagger… what if it had a lowercase, small caps and various numeral options… how could you say no?’ Go, click on the Halogen link and read on, if you're interested. Halogen was well-received, so I decided to take it further with Halogen Flare (the name kinda tips you off as to what kind of typeface it is, don't ya think?). As always, I prefer not to take short cuts and provide an anemic offering of glyphs — a modern typeface offered today must provide more than just the basics and this one does — lowercase, smallcaps, old style numerals, tabular forms, stylistic and titling alternates, fractions, case-sensitive features, and even an alternate uppercase ordinal set is included.
