Mr. Jenkins is designed to fill the void between the crazy, wacky and reckless comic style fonts, and the standard boring but very readable sans-serif typefaces. It makes for a distinctive bold headline, but is also quite legible at small sizes. It’s just off kilter enough to not take itself too seriously. A deceptively care-free font, each character was carefully drawn. The spacing and kerning of each letter and letter combination were painstakingly considered. Particular attention was paid to maintaining consistent optical weights and a spontaneous appearance. Treatise was born in a notebook at the back of a boring lecture on immunology with the simple thought of “How can I make a serif more fun?” When writing a scientific treatise, there are not many options for making it enjoyable. However, some little quirks and fun features in the font can take the serious edge off the writing.... Treatise is a light and open serif with some design quirks, which give it a slightly calligraphic feel; a single -storey “a” and “g,” a visible stroke mark on the “o,” and a curved arm on the “k.” These features are subtle enough to fit into a paragraph of text but bold enough to give a title some character. The Treatise family includes a true italic and a heavy-struck style bold, and several OpenType features; standard and discretional ligatures, contextual alternatives, and different figure styles. The typeface Fry was developed in 2008 specially for the Sky-Fish company (fish and seafood dealer). Type is designed for small texts, it has friendly and fairytale historic flavor. Fry takes openness and dynamism of humanistic sans serif, simple and softness of lubok's letters (primitive style) and fluidity of shallow marine fry. Despite of funny style, Fry works well even in the 5 point size. In large sizes Fry demonstrates its originality, vivacity and softness, in the small characteristics become less visible, and Fry's readability becomes more important. So this makes the typeface suitable for many tasks of typography. The typeface includes extended set of Latin, old style and lining figures, historical alternates and special local features. The combination of lubok's aesthetics and funny dynamic forms make a nature of Fry. Fry was exhibited at the Svjato Kyrylyci (Kharkov, Ukraine) festival in 2008. This is a free abridged edition of the full-featured Gutenberg B and Gutenberg C fonts. Although (as the name suggests) it was originally conceived as the first release in the B42-type series, it actually represents the colophon to this series. In addition to having a narrower scope, the font differs from its full-featured predecesors in both letter and word spacing, as well as in glyph design, using exclusively straight lines for every glyph and providing a significantly rough appearance at medium to large point sizes. The font includes the usual standard characters for typesetting modern texts, as well as a few special characters, alternates and ligatures that can be used for typesetting nearly as in Johann Gutenberg’s 42-line Bible and later incunabula. Glyphic Neue was inspired by the Op Art style of lettering in the United States that ran rampant in many photo type houses in the 1960's and 1970's. The Glyphic Series from the Franklin Photolettering group was an influence and spring board for this family of fonts, hence it's name. But Glyphic Neue departs from its unicase Franklin influence in several ways. Firstly the designer created both upper and lower case forms. The lowercase has been designed with barley protruding ascenders and descenders and with an x-height equivalent to the cap height, so that upper and lower can be exchanged indiscriminately for a quirky effect. Some of the letters take a cue from the original Glyphic series but many have been redesigned entirely to fit the designers vision. The italic forms differ enough from the upright version making it almost an entirely different display alphabet. Folkwang is an unusual roman type with a lowercase that resembles an upright italic. Unusual top serifs are contrasted by almost no foot serifs. Originally released by the Klingspor foundry in 1955, this face originated from Hermann Schardt while he was the director of the Folkwang Werkkunstschule in Essen Germany circa 1949. According to British book designer and printing historian John Dreyfus in the 1955 Penrose Annual: Folkwang “…is a lovingly made piece of work which could have easily have been little more than an act of awe-struck reverence for the calligraphic techniques rediscovered by Edward Johnston and spread abroad in Germany by Anna Simons. Of special interest is the serif treatment of the lower-case letters: at the feet the terminals are mostly left bare, but the ascenders and the cross-strokes of the f and t are given elaborate curving serifs which in the mass create an effect unusual in a page of letters made as movable types, resembling rather more a piece of intaglio engraving. Because Contenu is designed for text use, it is spaced for body copy in the 9-12 point range. That is far too much spacing for heads, subheads, and the like. So I made the display version of Contenu Book to use for headers. In the process of tightening the spacing at the very large sizes, I also made some minor modifications to the glyph shapes to make this version a little more elegant. Contenu Opentype has two Opentype families for print design. Contenu Book has five fonts: Regular, Italic, Bold, Bold Italic, and Display. Contenu has Medium, Medium Italic, Black, and Black Italic. The name is French for content and this is what the family is designed for: text, body copy, and book layout. If it has a style, it is a modern take on oldstyle serif font using Jenson as a mask. There are no plans for display versions of the bolder weights or the italics. If you want them, use Contenu Medium, Book Bold, Contenu Black, or any of the four italics and tighten the tracking.
