Oswald Bruce Cooper designed Cooper Black, an extra bold roman face, based on the forms of his earlier typeface Cooper Old Style, which appeared with Barnhart Brothers & Spindler Type Founders in Chicago. Copper Black was produced by Barnhart in 1922 and acquired in 1924 by the Schriftguß AG in Dresden, where it was later completed with a matching italic. Although Cooper Black appeared in the first third of the 20th century, it still looks contemporary and it can be found on storefronts in almost any city scene. The flowing outer contours create forms that are both strong and soft, making Cooper Black an extremely flexible font.

Although the early 1900s through the 1920s seemed to be the "Golden Age" of ridiculously long novelty song titles, it appears that even the decade of the 1940s had its fair share as well. Song Merchant JNL was modeled from the hand lettered [but exhausting] title of the sheet music for "Princess Poo-Poo-Ly Has Plenty Pa-Pa-Ya (and she Loves to Give it Away)". Despite the obvious double-entendre inferences of the title, the square block letters with rounded corners make for a useful headline font (even if the source material it was drawn from is quite forgettable). Linotype Minos is part of the Take Type Library, chosen from contestants of Linotype’s International Digital Type Design Contests of 1994 and 1997. This fun font was designed by Swiss artist Christian Goetz, who named it after King Minos of Crete of the Bronze Age. Typical of scripts of this time were the ornamental borders around the characters, found on palaces of Knossos, Phaistos and Mallia. These borders surround every character of Linotype Minos, making it exclusively for headlines in larger point sizes. Single characters can also be used as initials mixed with other alphabets, especially with constructed sans serif and modern serif fonts.

When Sputnik launched in 1957, the world was launched into the Space Age, baby! It was rockets and soda shops, souped-up jalopies and Fairlane convertibles with radios blaring. Rock and Roll. American Bandstand and the Race to Space. Astro aims to call back those exciting days with a look that might have graced the sign of your local drive-in or donut shop. Herculanum is a part of the 1990 program “Type before Gutenberg”, which included the work of twelve contemporary font designers and represented styles from across the ages. Herculanum is a work of Swiss typeface designer Adrian Frutiger. It takes its name from the city of Herculaneum, an ancient Roman resort town destroyed by volcanic pyroclastic flows from Mt Vesuvius in 79 AD (the same eruption that destroyed the nearby city of Pompeii). Herculaneum's ruins are located today in the commune of Ercolano, Campania, Italy. Ancient Roman writings of the 1st century influenced the font's design. Herculanum is distinguished by its broad characters with narrow strokes and its willful character.

Red Tape is three fonts that were designed by sticking letters together with red tape. It makes for a wonderful makeshift set of fonts. And I really enjoyed sticking those letters together. Of course I did it on screen using bits and pieces of scanned red tape. Just use it as you like, I won't give you any red tape in how to use the fonts. »Red Tape« is since February 2012 on permanent display in the »German National Library« – next to the likes of »Bodoni«, »Garamond« and »Helvetica« – being part of the exhibition about type through the ages. Lycia (Lycian: 𐊗𐊕𐊐𐊎𐊆𐊖 Trm̃mis; Greek: Λυκία, Lykia; Turkish: Likya) was a geopolitical region in Anatolia in what are now the provinces of Antalya and Muğla on the southern coast of Turkey, bordering the Mediterranean Sea, and Burdur Province inland. Known to history since the records of ancient Egypt and the Hittite Empire in the Late Bronze Age, it was populated by speakers of the Luwian language group. Written records began to be inscribed in stone in the Lycian language (a later form of Luwian) after Lycia's involuntary incorporation into the Achaemenid Empire in the Iron Age. At that time (546 BC) the Luwian speakers were decimated, and Lycia received an influx of Persian speakers. Ancient sources seem to indicate that an older name of the region was Alope (Ancient Greek: Ἀλόπη, Alópē). Lycia fought for the Persians in the Persian Wars, but on the defeat of the Achaemenid Empire by the Greeks, it became intermittently a free agent. After a brief membership in the Athenian Empire, it seceded and became independent (its treaty with Athens had omitted the usual non-secession clause), was under the Persians again, revolted again, was conquered by Mausolus of Caria, returned to the Persians, and finally fell under Macedonian hegemony upon the defeat of the Persians by Alexander the Great. Due to the influx of Greek speakers and the sparsity of the remaining Lycian speakers, Lycia was rapidly Hellenized under the Macedonians, and the Lycian language disappeared from inscriptions and coinage.

The font series Andron MC introduces a new feature to the repertoire of the Andron family: middlecase glyphs (intermediate between upper- and lowercase) – and uncial letters. Middlecase glyphs reach a medium height compared to full caps height and lowercase x-height. However, ‘uncial’ means the historic transitional lettershapes of the medieval ages which have gained no status in the bicameral typographic system of modern times. In all three of the Andron MC fonts middlecase (“MC”) glyphs dwell on the lowercase positions. These are coined in uncial fashion in the MC Uncial and MC Medieval fonts but appear as capital glyphs in MC Capital. The same variation occurs with the uppercase positions: whereas standard Roman/capital glyphs are there in MC Uncial and MC Capital, MC Medieval features uncial majuscules here instead. At the end that makes three different combinations of uncial and capital sorts. These fonts can be used for a great variety of purposes. The uncial sets are particularly well-suited for any typographic matter related to the middle ages. MC Capital is a worthwhile alternative choice when titling is to be possibly set in CAPITALS or Small caps. Andron MC adds a fascinating new aspect to the classical Andron fonts family. It enhances again the unique scope of typographical possibilities Andron is praised for since quite some time now. All three Andron MC fonts support full Latin, Greek (monotonic), Coptic and Gothic character ranges. Each font contains about 1000 glyphs.

Schnorr is a family of three fonts drawn by a German designer, Peter Schnorr. Schnorr Dekorativ is one of the less frequently seen of the alphabets he designed and one of the few for which he designed as lower case. Like many of the alphabets of the period, Schnorr Dekorativ is a delicate design. To provide a little more presence, we have added a DEMIBOLD version. Included in both Schnorr Dekorativ and Schnorr Demibold are an ornament of Schnorr’s design, seven T-ligatures and an alternate lower case t. 123=Ta, 125=Te, 135=Th, 137=Ornament, 167=Ti, 172=To, 188=Tr, 190=Tu and 177=alternate t. Schnorr’s design for the lower case t is unusual and not readily recognized. The alternate may be used to improve readability. Schnorr Initialen was designed as an upper case only design and as such is quite popular. It is often seen under the name of Odessa. Our font is a fresh scan and is paired with our Schnorr Demibold to provide a compatible lower case, along with all the rest of the auxiliary characters. Schnorr Initialen includes all the extras supplied with Schnorr Dekorativ and Schnorr Demibold: 123=Ta, 125=Te, 135=Th, 137=Ornament, 167=Ti, 172=To, 188=Tr, 190=Tu and 177=alternate t. Bapalopa is inspired by classic graffiti "blockbuster" letter forms. These letters are made to look as big and as wide as possible. Payload began as an early concept for Loaded magazine, and here is developed into a clean outline and rough splattery spraycan version.
