Aramus is a new serif font in my continuing objective of designing book fonts that I can really use. In many ways, Aramus is a very different direction for me. It comes from a scan of an old display face that has been radically modified to a much smaller x-height than I have been using lately, plus taller ascenders. Many of the characters needed a lot of correction to bring them into my taste. In general, I have decided that many of my fonts create a type color that is too dense. Aramus is an attempt to get away from that look. Although Amitale has been a very successful book family and excellent to work with, I find I still need something more open with a lighter color. Aramus is the first look at the new direction. The original hand-cut serifs vary a lot, different for almost every character. This gives a little looseness and helps the lightness I am looking for. It will be interesting to see where this all goes. This is a normal serif for me in that it has caps, lowercase, small caps with the appropriate figures for each case. This font has all the OpenType features in the set for 2009. I didn't bother with the CE accents (though I can add them upon request. They will be in the final new book family). There are several ligatures for your fun and enjoyment: bb gg ff fi fl ffi ffl ffy fj ft tt ty Wh Th and more. Like all of my fonts, there are: caps, lowercase, small caps, proportional lining figures, proportional oldstyle figures, & small cap figures, plus numerators, denominators, superiors, inferiors, and a complete set of ordinals 1st through infinity. Home Run Script has the formality of 18th-century English roundhands, narrow, tightly fitted and drawn in a very bold weight and inspired by my ITC Eclat font. The x-height is large, and the caps are simply drawn with minimal swashes. Its companion font Home Run Sanscript, sold separately also, has sans serif caps that enable the user to combine script and sanserif caps with the same slope. It has the same lowercase as Home Run Script with a few alternate characters and sans serif lining and Oldstyle figures. Both Young Finesse and Home Run include Richard Isbell’s “interrabang,” appropriately used for statements that are both interrogative and exclamatory.

A lot of interesting variations in lettering style can be found in sets of antique tin or brass marking stencils. One such set was the model for Metalmark Stencil JNL, a bold sans with a chamfered look.

Here's another old-timer that needed a lowercase, so we drew one. Originally issued as a caps-only type by The American Type Founders Company about 1898, this font found its way into Craftsman period design. It was the inspiration for Galadriel, a dry transfer sheet alphabet.

Diaria started as a project in Typeface Architecture for Master in Advanced Typograghy at EINA, Centre Universitari de Disseny i Art de Barcelona, a course tutored by Laura Meseguer and Íñigo Jerez Quintana. Later it has developed into Diaria Pro, an extensive typeface including Cyrillic script, small caps, and various OpenType features. Diaria Pro is a low-contrast serif typeface designed as a primary text face for the newspapers. Its large x-height and static exteriors allow comfortable reading in narrow columns, and calligrafic counters as well as dynamic serifs add humanist detail to overall perception and incline contrast axis without affecting interletter counterforms. Besides extensive language support, Diaria Pro includes various OpenType features: ligatures, discretionary ligatures, small caps, 6 sets of digits, superiors, inferiors, fractions, ordinals, upper-case punctuation, and some language-specific features. Relato has a low contrast and “a muscular” structure that makes it useful for setting longer text. In display sizes it has a variety of details that lends it a unique and personal expression. The formal principle of the serif, the variety of terminal strokes and the combination of curves and semi-straight lines gives the Relato a more “human” flavor. The inspiration for the design comes from different traditional calligraphic styles. The upper case letter, for example, is based on roman capitals from the Rennaissance, whereas the lower case relates to humanist handwriting. Even so, Relato is a decidedly contemporary typeface, proposing individual ideas on the design of type. The italic has a distinct typographic color thanks to the construction principle of broken lines. The bold weights have an increased contrast in the union of the strokes which helps improve legibility in small sizes and reinforce their personality in display sizes. Arise is a humanist typeface designed for both text and display purposes. Its an understated type family with enough subtle nuances and personality to add distinction to your own typographic compositions. As can be seen in the /a/c/f/g/r/y/ glyphs, hooked terminals are a key feature of this typeface. These terminals are blade-like in appearance, defining a distinctive character that is unusual, yet balanced and refined. This small family can be counted as 4 fonts in 2. Because both weights contain small caps, 12 sets of stylistic alternates, and a decorative swashed form. That’s not counting dozens of ligatures in both multilingual latin and Cyrillic scripts. Plus ordinals, case-sensitive forms, and manual hinting. Due to its geometric nature, designers can manipulate vectors to change letters' dimensions for logotypes. They may seem modular, but every glyph was shaped individually to give handmade imperfections, reminiscent of wood type press. This allows for plenty of details at large sizes. Regular versions are multilingual but include only standard ligatures and case-sensitive forms.

Urbane Adscript is a script companion to Urbane. A monoline semi-linking sans, it has the same number of weights and the same cap height and x-height as the Urbane family, meaning the two can be used together harmoniously. It features swash capitals that can be toggled on or off in the Opentype panel, or chosen individually from the Glyphs menu according to taste. Almost every capital has a swash alternate, and many have two. In Adobe Illustrator, the more decorative swash can be found under “swash”, the less decorative as an alternate. Also includes lining, tabular and old-style numerals.

GREISSLER is a Retro Display Font inspired by old letterings on store fronts and building facades in Vienna. "Greißler" is a term used in the east of Austria and means small grocer. In Vienna you can still see some of the letterings "Lebensmittel", "Feinkost", etc. on the storefronts of mostly abandoned shops. Similar letters can be found on "Gemeindebauten" (council housing) from the 1920s.

Chive Turkey JNL is a solid version of Jeff Levine's inline font, Toucan Tango JNL. This bold and sassy sans serif has the great retro look of hand lettering and can really add some punch to ad copy.

Some time ago, my kids asked me what kind of sweets I really liked. To be honest, I don’t actually like sweets at all - never have, never will. BUT… you can wake me up for chocolate and ice cream! Those are my guilty pleasures! Guilty Pleasure is a handmade font. I used China Ink and a brush to create all the glyphs. Guilty Pleasure is a very distinct display font. I recommend you use it for your ice cream or chocolate packaging… but that, of course, is entirely up to you!

This is a deco-style text OpenType Pro font loosely based on Koch's Locarno as seen in KochAltschrift a recent free German tribute to Koch's work. I was familiar with Meek's Letraset presstype version called Locarno, but I never liked the proportions used by either Meeks or Koch. So I radically revised ascender, descender, and x-height to make them more usable and brought the shapes within my sense of design. Mine is probably closer to Meeks than Koch, but hopefully it is a tribute to both. Astaire looks much more modern and it is much more usable. I added oldstyle figures, small cap figures, small caps, several ligatures, and more. There are an italic, bold, and bold italic also in this family
