Asta, named after the adorable pup in the “Thin Man” movies from the 1930‘s and early ‘40‘s, is an Art Deco / Streamline Moderne all-caps display font. Inspired by forms from the iconic machinery of the day like trains and autos, Asta has a heavy and masculine proportion, a cut-in “grille” effect and a slight slant which emphasizes its moderne roots. Fantastic for illustration or retro applications like antique product “logos,” signs and vintage packaging, or for a fun & funky ‘70‘s Disco look.

This is a curvaceous playful casual upright display script (the name inspired by Tibetan yak butter) and is unique due to the tall ascenders and cap heights combined with a small x-height and small cap height. Due to these variations I designed different heights of quote marks for visual consistency. There are five weights and multi Latin language support. This font is perfect for lingerie catalogs, gorgeous cookbooks, curvaceous branding and logo design, callipygian magazine heads, sumptuous restaurant and food designs, flamboyant word poetry and more.

Bielik was created for a comic book that I’m working on. Main goal was to achieve random character of texts, so I made three glyphs for every letter, even for diacritics. Firstly I was drawing using brush pen with ink, so thickness of letters was really various. I decided to implement this style into a font. So that is how Bielik came into the world. This is good choice for comic books, children books, display designs and much more. Bielik is a polish word for Haliaeetus albicilla.

Youbee is a casual serifed font that is highly legible. It has a bit of contrast, but not much. Youbee gets its name from it origin, the Ultimate Blend (UB) of four very different typefaces: Euroika, Ingriana, BetterTypeRight, and KampFriendship. The earliest members of the family were constructed in 1996, with a shadow version added in 2011, extra weights in 1999, and two different widths in 2022.

Monadic is a modern singular monospace display font. The typeface is made from groups of single basic triangular geometric units. Monadic is inspired by structured and organic geometry. During the 1960s Hippie movement, a large amount of the rock and roll poster art was strongly influenced by the Art Nouveau period of the early 1900s. A poster for an appearance by The Doors at San Francisco’s Cow Palace Exposition Center (presented by Fillmore East and West owner Bill Graham) featured some wonderfully eclectic Nouveau-styled serif hand lettering. Now recreated as a digital type face called Cow Palace JNL (and named for the performance venue), the font is available in both regular and oblique versions.

These four typefaces, Berlinette NB, Lyonette NB, Marseillette NB and Parisette NB, were designed from the same basic shape, a fanciful geometric form that avoids strict horizontals and uses more offbeat triangular shapes. Berlinette is the medieval Gutenbergian version of the four. It’s like a weird black letter font from the 1930s. It would work well advertising an obscure brand of German beer on the side of a Zeppelin as it circles the soccer stadium during the last match. In a William Burroughs novel.

Polke is a single weight display face brimming with style and charm but simultaneously exuding impressive core strength and a vibrant personality. I also had the artist Sigmar Polke in mind which explains the spelling, and so the two ideas simply morphed together.

Following the great success of Swissra, the condensed cut was designed on the same principles of Swiss graphic design. Originally Swissra was designed to create a neutral and carefully crafted Arabic font family that can be used on many different applications. Now it creates even more possibilities to help designers in applications such as signage and editorial design where the condensed cut is needed. The typeface is one of very few Arabic condensed typefaces. Swissra Condensed comes in eight weights which range from Ultralight to Black.

The Bitstream version of Bell Gothic designed by Chauncey H. Griffith in 1938 for telephone directories of the Bell Telephone Company. It is a good sans serif choice for listings, catalogues and directories as its design is very space saving. The weight of the line is moderate and uniform. Being a clear and easy-to-read font, Bell Gothic is popular now for display and magazine advertising. Cyrillic version by Isabella Chaeva was released by ParaType in 1999. Italic styles added in 2009 by the same designer.

The cover of the 1907 sheet music for "I'd Rather Twostep Than Waltz, Bill" was hand lettered in an Art Nouveau sans serif alphabet. Around the turn of the 20th Century, the Inland Type Foundry produced a display face named Studley. It was a variation on a design by another foundry called Florentine. A condensed face with a bold, clean look, the design resembled the warmth and feel of a classic wood type. Best applied to headlines and titles, the font reads amazingly well at even 18 point renderings. Jeff Levine had added his own personal touch to his digital version of this old favorite and renamed it Bayview JNL.

Amitié is another typeface design by Ralph M. Unger. With its French origin already hinted at in the name, Amitié comes across as friendly and lively. Monospaced become very popular among graphic designers. Nevertheless, I’ve noticed that in most cases that designers use monospaced typefaces is not because of their particular features caused by the strict rules of design — all characters share the same advanced width — rather because of it’s ‘electronic derived’ appearance. So, I decided to create a typeface that keeps the characteristics that, in my opinion attract designers to this particular sort of types, but deliberately break the main rule: characters do not share the same width — but they they look like they do! Characters are better balanced compared to truly monospaced types, giving more even typographic color while used in text setting. One weight might enough to please electronic type lovers. Vallassina is named after Vallassina, a village in the valley of the upper tract of the river Lambro in northern Italy. The most important settlement in the area is the town of Asso, from which the valley takes its name. Spasell is a slang of Insubric language, spoken until 19th century by inhabitants of Vallassina, when they used to go out from the valley for business and they didn't want to be understood by the people. What makes this valley unique is that the locals use a unique whistle language to communicate to each other. Vallasina is confidently irreverent yet curiously attractive. Nono is the nickname of my oldest son, Konstantin. His little brother could not really speak yet, but he was always looking for him and said something to the tune of, "wea is a nono". From that time on I call Konstantin Nono. I designed a handwritten script with his real name, that i named Konstantin. Now I made this slick version of that script – hence – Nono!
