Inspired by building signage for the old CBS broadcasting facility in Los Angeles, Aircheck JNL is a bold, wide sans serif - reminiscent of Art Deco lettering of the 1940's, and perfectly suited for headlines and titles that get attention.

Christopher Matthews originally drew Piccadilly for Letraset in 1973. Piccadilly is a decorative, all caps display typeface with a high degree of stroke contrast. All of Piccadilly's letterforms are made up of a single, curvy line. The thick" elements of each letter are five lives, while thin elements are made from one or two. In order for all of this detail to be clear, Piccadilly should be used in large point sizes, i.e., from 36-point on upward. Piccadilly's style is reminiscent of both the Art Deco and Disco eras."

Res Publica is a workhorse. It is quite anonymous as typeface, without any distinctive marks. But it gives a harmonious text body, well suited for large amounts of text, such as official public reports, magazines based mainly on text, school books, and so on. The public" concept is part of the name. Res Publica is Latin for "public matters". The word republic has the same origin. Res Publica was released in 1992.

Based on an example of [circa] 1950 Finnish embroidery lettering, Evening Out JNL is a classic Art Deco design with contrasting thick and thin lines. This elegant and stylish typeface is available in both regular and oblique versions.

Here’s an intriguing mixture of 1930s deco and modern tech fashion. Travel Kit Medium is a sturdy semi-serif hybrid with one foot in the past and another in the present. It is slightly low-waisted with extended crossbars on the capital A, E, F, H, K, and P. But the capital B, M, R and X are distinctively contemporary with the E and M repeated as unicase letters in the lowercase. IronType (formerly known as Ironman) is an extra bold geometric titling face in the Art Deco poster tradition. A warm sense of strength and playfulness runs throughout this design. Triangular-shaped crossbars are some of its distinguishing characteristics. The face also contains some very amusing alternates. The tails of the alternate cap K and R extend below the line and the alternate cap N has a hump instead of a diagonal stroke. A handy set of lowercase letters with lining and smaller figures are also included. IronType Extra Bold is now available in the OpenType Std format. Colin Brignall designed the Tango typeface in 1974. A groovy swirl of a font, Tango looks like disco party ready to lift off. Back in the nineties I had a deck of Tarot cards. It was part interest and part curiosity, but I also liked the look of them. My readings were just for fun; I thought it was all a joke, but when people started to return for more readings (because what I had predicted actually happened), I quit. That was way out of my comfort zone! Fortune Teller is a nice brush font. I made it with one of my late father in law’s Chinese brushes and ink. It comes with all diacritics and a set of alternate glyphs. If you buy this font, you will meet with a tall and handsome stranger and you will win the lottery. Guaranteed! Haha!

Koi is a highly original, outline display font. Each character is represented by a single continuous line to create a fluid and rhythmic look. The result is something of a hybrid, sitting somewhere between an outline and an inline style, and with an asymmetrical look — something quite rare in a typeface. Many of the characters look like ready made logotypes. Further customisation is easily achieved by extending the end strokes of characters, possibly aligning them and joining them to others to create bespoke arrangements.

The lettering for Fine Dining JNL was inspired by the opening titles for the 1940 Barbara Stanwyck-Fred MacMurray film "Remember the Night". A stylized Art Deco sans, the typeface conjures up images of elegant dining, being out on the town and all we warmly associate with the night life of the 1930s and 1940s.

Soerabaja is the old Dutch spelling of Surabaya, an important trading port city in East Java (Indonesia). This all caps art deco font was based on old colonial posters I found, plus a sprinkling of my imagination. It seems I have a weak spot for Art Deco fonts named after Indonesian cities - partly because the country has always interested me and partly because my wife’s family is from Indonesia. Soerabaja is quite an elegant font, so use it for your book titles, restaurant menus and whatever else you can come up with.

Obrigado means 'Thank You' in Portuguese. It is my way of saying thanks to the unknown designer of a Portuguese port-wine poster from the thirties. Obrigado font is based on that poster. As I had to work with a handful of glyphs, I designed the missing ones myself. Obrigado is a quite elegant and refined art deco font, which would be ideal for posters and logos. Obrigado speaks most Roman based languages.

Louise font was based on the art of Louise Marie (lou) Loeber, a Dutch painter. She was born in Amsterdam in 1894 and flirted with several styles like De Stijl, Cubism and Bauhaus. Her artworks are characterized by a sober use of geometric shapes; lines, rectangles and triangles. Louise font consists of Caps, but the lower and upper case glyphs are quite different. Louise comes with extensive language support.

Catskin is a fairytale by The Brothers Grimm. The story is about a king who has a beautiful wife and daughter - you know, the basic fairytale stuff. Long story short: they all live happily ever after (except for the wife, who dies…). Catskin is also a nice, handmade font. I like making fairytale fonts, especially since I have three kids, who love books. And when I see one of my fonts on the cover, I can tell them: ‘daddy made this’. #prouddaddy ;-)

Art deco typography from the Netherlands that summons a thirties vibe for a nostalgic twist on chic lines. Planjer is the work of designer Leon Hulst, and you can see from the layout examples here that nostalgia means ruin, and it has become super cool to use a ruin vibe in retro aesthetics. Yep, there's a touch of class to that worn out look and feel, and the beautiful lines of the typography and numerals show how the barely restrained charisma of art deco can be coupled with the new obsession with all things vintage.

Fonts without curved lines were quite popular in Victorian times. We drew this one back in the days of T-squares and triangles, and based it on a type that we felt could stand to be improved. (Arrogant, eh?)

Aladin is a calligraphic art deco face with an eastern touch, designed by Angel Koziupa and produced by Alejandro Paul. Casual, airy counters and friendly terminals give it an advantage as a packaging font for exotic coffees and teas. It also serves quite well on posters and book jackets where relaying the famous sense of Eastern hospitality and playfulness is a must.

Artime is a dynamic display font based on strong graphic elements with rectilinear forms. Artime came in two style forms; a solid one called Flat and a decorative form with crisscrossed of vertical lines called Deco. Artime comes with Open Type features and interesting ligatures.
