The hand cut wood type which was the inspiration for Wood Nouveau JNL conjures up images of the artistic period between the Victorian Era and 1920s Moderne, as well as the hippie counterculture active in the later part of the 20th Century. During the late 1960s and early 1970s, rock posters, fliers, store signs and other printed ephemera of "the love generation" borrowed heavily from the Art Noveau style in both art and typography. An Alphonse Mucha-inspired flower girl could adorn a concert poster that also combined both vintage wood type and hand-lettered elements. Although this particular type design might well have preceded the actual start of the Nouveau period, the softer, rounder lines of each character lent themselves well to this emerging style.

Inka is the name by which the closest-ones called my partner. Inka is also the name of a text typeface – in its form very friendly and welcoming. The same way as relationships develop through the life, text typefaces develop, too. I had started the work on this typeface about the same time as I met Inka, while reaching the final output has been a long and progressive process. Inka is a modern serif typeface with wide universality in functions (various editorial usages as books, magazines, annual reports…). The concept and the scope of the complete type family are based on the principle of optical sizes of the typeface designed for the particular use of the size of typesetting. Inka consists of several drawing variations for the typesetting of small sizes (Small), text typesetting (Text), larger typesetting sizes (Title), and headlines sizes (Display). Two constructive alternatives, differing in the height of the construction of the font signs, further extend the variability of the usage of the typeface. Inka A has classical proportions ideal for book typesetting. Inka B has lower ascenders and descenders, lower uppercase glyphs and numbers. Typeface with such construction allows us to use the typesetting efficiently while using tighter leading and still looking more contemporary. Each of the font set (Display, Title, Text, Small) consists of four weights (Regular, Medium, Bold, Black), each has wide character set and a lot of OpenType features. “Inka is dedicated to Inka.”

This font was a product of self-initiated project I started a while back. It started and finished as a project that I was working on while procrastinating at school, for fun; however, I spent enough time to not give it out for free.

This is a monospace font for the Braille alphabet. The idea came while exploring new ways to display the regular braille glyph ( 3 rows of 2 dots ). The glyph design is inspired by "stackable multiple board" games like the famous Vulcan chess (from Star Trek series) and the Qubic (3D tic-tac-toe). The stack is made from 3 levels, each level is a 3x3 grid with 2 "playable" cells (South-West and North-East). Each cell can be either empty, filled by a white square token or a black square token. The 3D effect is obtained by means of the classic isometric perspective. Lowercase letters use black tokens, while uppercase letters use white tokens. Most special characters (e.g. digits, *$#@, []{}() etc.. ) are also provided for special usages like program source code (see poster 5).

Cascadeur is a variable modular sans with 3 axes, a modernistic hommage to space-age typography. It was designed by Peter Bushuev and released in April of 2020. Cascadeur was born from a type design study and went a long way to its final form. The main feature is a structure of the font: it based on 4 lines grid, has very tight spacing to achieve maximum space coverage and set of inventive letterforms. No Parking JNL was inspired by a hand-cut stencil of those words painted in an area of a department store's parking lot.

Eponymous is an Egyptian-style typeface with chunky, scalloped serifs. It is available in five weights in both roman and italic. I have always loved slab serif type and have created Eponymous to fulfil a yearning for a versatile, stylish and contemporary slab face. A key design characteristic is the implementation of scalloped serifs which, to me, imbues the typeface with a distinctive personality. Make use of the Open Type features that are part of Eponymous. For a start, you can implement some stylistic alternates, so, if the main characters don’t quite suit your concept, try activating Stylistic Set 1. There’s also a full set of small caps included. You can mix and match these characters with regular lowercase to create some interesting unicase typography. Of course, all characters have complementing diacritics, enabling multi-language support. A 1934 advertisement for the Roney Plaza Hotel at 23rd Street and Collins Avenue on Miami Beach yielded the inspiration for Tropical Tourist JNL. While this wonderful example of Art Deco lettering survived, sadly the original Roney was torn down around 1969 and replaced with a modern apartment house/condos bearing the same name.
