Up until the advent of modern packing and shipping methods, the common way to mark merchandise or other items to be transported was through the use of a brass stencil. These marking devices were hand stamped (or punched) using metal dies that were struck against sheets of brass to create the letters, numbers and other symbols [unlike the steel rule die cutting method used for manufacturing paper stencils]. Progeny is a single-stroke freehand informal script that began life as a logo for a fast food company. That logo was rejected but when I added a suite of swash caps and a few extra ligatures and my trademark underlines it all started to come together as a font. Then I used it successfully for another logo and I proceeded to complete the weight variations that emerged during the first logo design, rounding the lighter weights to give a more friendly, softer look. That treatment didn't suit the bold weight but sharp corners did not detract from the robust, legible headliner that emerged. All weights work in all-lowercase, all-capitals, lowers with swash or regular initial caps and surprisingly – in all-caps with swash initials.

Merlo Neue is the younger brother of Merlo. New family received refreshed, more square proportions and a new shape of many glyphs. However, what is the most important in new Merlo, is the wide range of instances – nine new weights, from Hairline to super dark Black – which allows to use the family in a complex way, depending on the user’s needs. Italic version has narrower and lighter proportions. Font has a glyph set for latin script and old-style figures. Merlo Neue would be a great choice for display use as well as for the longer texts. Font Merlo Neue is inspired by a “You And Me Monthly” published by National Magazines Publisher RSW "Prasa” from May 1960 till December 1973 in Poland.

Grungy Old Typewriter is based on two typed letters, each on two pages and dated 1901. The results are eroded, rough, irregular and grungy. The final results are a vintage look. As a designer, I wanted as much flexibility as possible, so there are six versions that are designed to work together. Additionally, I decided to keep the grunge and irregularities within the shape and not include surrounding typewriter or paper marks. I leave it to the design to add those elements as desired. One note, the letter spacing is much tighter than an old typewriter. I felt that readability for modern readers suffered from the added space. Of course, you can get that same look by increasing the letter spacing in your favorite design program.

The distinctive design of the "Diagram Display" comes from the Venn diagram. It is a common statement and it is a spatial illusion. The delicately differentiated curves balance the technical, geometrically constructed shaping. The graceful character comes with All caps or Small caps typesetting in lighter weights when the font takes on a classicist character due to its proportions. It appears best in headlines and larger sizes, in all applications and themes where its elemental design resonates. Each of the six weights contains an extensive character set, including small caps, uppercase, lowercase and tabular numbers, mathematical symbols, standard and discretionary ligatures, or arrows and other special characters. The stylistic set SS01 contains alternations (a, g, t, u, y) that support its geometrically constructed appearance.

The impetus behind Felbridge was both ambitious and highly practical: to develop an ideal online" typeface for use in web pages and electronic media. Robin Nicholas, the family's designer, explains, "I wanted a straightforward sans serif with strong, clear letterforms which would not degrade when viewed in low resolution environments." Not surprisingly, the design also performs exceptionally well in traditional print applications. In 2001, to achieve his goal, Nicholas adjusted the interior strokes of complex characters like the M and W to prevent on-screen pixel build-up and improve legibility. Characters with round strokes were drawn with squared proportions to take full advantage of screen real estate.
