Blumenkind is a fresh, bright, humanist script font radiating boundless optimism and friendly enthusiasm. Its strokes are based on the rounded triangle, which lends it a dynamic bounce and a confident human touch. Blumenkind is inspired by an instance of metal-strip lettering found on the B�rgermeister Kornmesser Siedlung residential building complex in Berlin from the 1960s. FF Cocon’s designer, Evert Bloemsma (1958—2005) described it as a “serious typeface”. Despite first impressions, the description holds up well. Since its 2001 release, FF Cocon has been used in an astoundingly wide variety of design applications. At large sizes, FF Cocon works as a display face, with beautiful detailing. And at small sizes, it remains surprisingly readable. The lowercase letters a, b, d, g, h, m, n, p, q, r and u, were drawn without spurs, as Bloemsma made an attempt to erase every trace of handwriting; even “normal,” neutral sans serif typefaces still retain elements in their letterforms like this. Bloemsma wanted none of it. Although a difficult starting point for a typeface, this proved successful. Bloemsma’s design is a family of rounded yet rather asymmetrical forms with details reminiscent of brush-strokes, but that were not made with a brush in hand. In spite of its claim to seriousness, FF Cocon is a family of seductive, voluptuous styles. The original FF Cocon had two widths—normal and condensed. Later, a more compact Extra Condensed version was introduced, as well as italics.

Lemonado is a type family drawn with a dry brush pen. It includes upright and italic scripts and all caps fonts with brush texture or with smooth edges. Lemonado Script is playful and slightly bouncing connecting script. It includes two sets of lower cases to increase the hand writing effect. Loaded with personality and functionality, Cresta is built to look good while surviving the worst conditions. It is at home on screen and in a magazine. Its six weights are intended to be used everywhere. Unlike most typefaces, Cresta was built without a reference. For this project, everything design choice was based on what worked best for a workhorse sans serif family. Cresta was originally created as the primary typeface for this website. This meant it needed to work in copy, headlines, and navigation across all devices, browsers and operating systems. This meant it needed to be sturdy and have enough character to make it stand out from other UI typefaces. With its large x-height, ample counters, and giant apertures, Cresta is meant for easy utility in rough conditions. Even with all of this, that doesnít mean that its dull; as the weights increase, the style of Cresta becomes more appearant. This style is defined most apparently by the terminals on the lowercase r and the angle of the joins between the curved and straight strokes (such as in the connection on the n).

Coil feels comfortable like a well-worn pair of shoes. It could easily pass for an assertive industrial European sans serif of the early 1960s with its slight reverse contrast, monotonous proportions, and squared-off curves, if not for its less predictable side. What appears initially as ellipses upon closer inspection turns out to be irregular shapes, closer to an inverted egg than an oval. The s looks topsy-turvy with its higher curve that is larger than the lower. Some terminal strokes overhang the bowl (as in the a), others open flat (as in the Q, the f, the j, and the t). The resulting effect shakes up this seemingly “retro” face just to make it new. Our midcentury recollections are slightly distorted and reinterpreted by this ironic typeface making it fresh while deceptively cozy and familiar. Coil’s high x-height and even texture make it readable even in small sizes despite its tight apertures. Early in my career as a graphic designer I purchased a book on Japanese packaging. With it, I came to notice that Japanese characters used mostly a modicum of strokes. This font was my attempt at trying to balance the familiarity of a Latin alphabet with the unfamiliarity of Kanji and Kana. It was more of a typographical challenge than usual; since going too much in either direction would defeat the purpose. I would like to think that, for the most part, I got the balance right. The letters of Trapezoidal are like sheep: they do not like being alone but want to be part of a flock. Many of the individual letters of Trapezoidal look strange and unshapely in isolation because they are designed to fit into a pattern with other letters. That pattern is formed by alternating asymmetric trapezoids, with trapezoids that are wide at the top alternating with trapezoids that are wide at the bottom. The magic of the OpenType feature of contextual alternatives (calt) automatically alternates them. The fonts in the family are largely monospaced and have very tight letter spacing. Since the mid of last century, main cities of Colombia - as Bogotá, Medellín and others - were growing in population and brought urban area expansion with it and serious traffic problems due to the lack of political will and urban planning. The problem of urban transport in Colombia's largest cities has not yet been resolved, despite adopting some examples of mass transit system in other cities in the region. Before these actions, public transport in cities such as Bogotá was quite varied, leaving space for popular culture that survived for a couple of decades, until the massive dieback of these old buses early this decade, either by practices associated with Lettering it was displaced by some technological, some expressions of art street and city that evolved or disappeared. Bartosh is the American short form for Bartholomew. Although I chose this font name because of its sound and its short conciseness, I also liked the fact that Bartholomew had been one of the 12 apostles who had worked in India and Iran and the idea that his spirit could be the inspiration for my work.Bartosh was designed for display on the screen: the large x-height and the clear, open shapes facilitate readability. As a result, it develops a strong expression of character and makes it ideal for headings or highlighting individual text passages – it is ideal for captions of any kind. In each of the six weights, it unfolds its own and special charm. Fakir | A Hindu ascetic or religious mendicant, especially one who performs feats of magic or endurance. The well known feats performed by them include sitting steadily on a bed of nails and walking on burning coals. Blackletter | A script used throughout Western Europe from approximately 1150 to 1500. It continued to be used for the German language until the 20th century. Fakir, a blackletter with a holy kiss is a contemporary interpretation of gone letterforms with origin in blackletters. More precisely, we based the construction on broadnip textura, with lots of broken, edgy, interrupted strokes – try to sit on a nail bed and you’ll know why fakirs like to read just these kind of fonts! After being abandoned for some time (not accepted, nearly forbidden), we would like to give our generation a blackletter from here and now. Cíclope is a typeface family designed by Carlos Fabián Camargo in 2012 and used to write the headlines. Its idea is based on an army of stone soldiers that with their size and strength cause earthquakes. Under this concept he obtained stencil and sans serif letters with monstrous shapes and torn counterforms. Its usefulness as well as readability consists in imitate rocks with scars and cracks. For that reason, Cíclope family has three sizes, each with their respective italics distributed at different levels of corrosion. In addition, each file contains 260 glyphs useful for designing words and phrases with systematically eroded treatments for advertisement material. Thus Cíclope works as a raw material in the exploration of new graphic design. Finally, Cíclope concept has grotesque, geometric and humanistics letters roots that seem disastrous but each and every detail has been planned with high definition drawing.
