Southside Fizz is a cocktail (made with gin, lime, mint and soda). Southside Fizz font was based on a single word in a 1930’s advertisement and my Palembang font. I did not have that many glyphs to work with, so I made most of them up. Southside Fizz became a very elegant all caps Art Deco font, quite useful for wedding invitations, books and posters. It comes with a roaring amount of diacritics as well.

P—49 is a geometric, unicase sans-serif typeface inspired by the angular patterns found in modern suspension bridges. Each letter is constructed on a grid made up of 90° and 45° angles, drawn from the steel trusses supporting the imposing vertical towers of suspension bridges. The delicate, sophisticated letterforms of ITC Edwardian Script font were drawn and redrawn until the connective elements of the letters were perfected to create the look of true handwriting.

I have been making some clean, connected fonts lately and when I was working on another one of these, I felt the need for something chaotic. So, Scapegoat was born. I used a round nibbed steel pen and Chinese ink and the result is quite a messy font. It may look chaotic, but as Nietzsche once said: ‘from chaos comes order’. Amen to that! Mexican printmaker Jose Guadalupe Posada (1851-1913) created a massive variety of material—broadsheets, cards, advertisements, posters, etc.—which largely represented a defense of the common man and a manifestation of the horrible and gruesome events of the day. Posada often cut his own lettering that looked like more decorative versions of Gothic wood types. His most notable imagery comes from his Calaveras celebrating the Day of the Dead. Calaveras often represent effigies of living people depicted as skeletons going about their daily activities. These are often humorous and playful in a way that helps bridge this world with the beyond. This font family contains two small caps style fonts and one Extras font containing 60 images.

The "Zornale", is an original manuscript that contains a large amount of data, providing a daily record of the books acquired by the Venetian bookseller Francesco de Madiis, between 1481 and 1488. My latest typeface is a formal, copperplate script named Glade. Beginning as a project for a client who wanted several widths of a formal script style, the project never saw fruition. However, it did get me excited about the idea of a width family of steel nib scripts, ranging from extra narrow to extra wide, and the result is the Glade family. To give Glade a minor modern makeover from the original intent, the lowercase has been scaled up, and the Capitals scaled down for a more friendly personality. The character set has been expanded, and OpenType support has been added for unlimited fractions, ordinals, superiors and inferiors. So if you have the need for a formal connecting script, but are short on space, try Glade Narrow or Glade Extra Narrow. If space is not an issue, then the Regular, Wide or the generously gracious Extra Wide should do nicely. And if you get the whole family, well then you are set for anything that comes your way.

Trick Pony is a typeface bastard that steals its characteristics from sans serif fonts and combines these with an ink brush appearance. The design is strictly reduced on the one hand, but on the other gets its handmade touch through varying stroke sizes.

Forum Title was originally designed by Frederic Goudy in 1911. It was intended to be the heading font used for a book set in Kennerley. Based on inscriptional Roman stone cut capitals, this face is true to the early Roman forms which did not have a lower case. Forum exemplifies the classic Roman letterform at its finest. If a lower case were desired, Forum Title can be paired with Goudy Oldstyle for a harmonious hybrid font.

Once I had a young, very eager and interested designer in my employ. We got into talking about where our letterforms come from and the habits in perception we are used to. He did not quite believe me. So I said, let's try to design a typeface where everything is just the opposite of what we are used to. We really had a hard time, our habits crept up on us all the time. But after a couple of weeks we finally finished this typeface and wanted to call it crazytype, but my young apprentice ­ who did most of the manual labor ­ said Contype sounded crazier. The techno sound of the 1990s, a personal computer, font creation software, and some inspiration all came together to inspire the F2F (Face2Face) font series. Alessio Leonardi and his friends had the demand to create new unusual typefaces, which would be used in the leading German techno magazine of the day, Frontpage. Even typeset as small as 6-points, in nearly undecipherable layouts, it was a pleasure for the kids to read and try to decrypt the messages. F2F Mekkaso Tomanik is a font whose letters have had diamond holes punched into them. In fact, so many holes have been punched into the letters that one could ask whether this font is more letterforms, or more holes!

Tudeprins is not a really positive word - the font probably did deserve another name, but I was inspired after reading a children's novel, starring a "Tudeprins" The font is dedicated to children's books, adventures, comics or something related to that - but feel free to use "Tudeprins" for anything you like! Axelby JNL was modeled from a set of die-cut, self-adhesive cardboard letters from the 1960s. The design is reminiscent of some early wood type in the way it has letters of varying widths that do not conform to any set standard. The font is perfect for plain, easy-to-read and attention-getting headlines.

Charlemagne, one of the great rulers of the Middle Ages, was instrumental in the reestablishment of formal education in the West. This font was inspired by the notion that he felt the need to protect his communications from people with the ability to read; a rare skill then. Did he really command such a script to exist? He did instigate the development Carolingian minuscule script. Here are two different systems that are both attributed to him. Does it provide any real security? No, but it is fun to think about how such a system might have been used.

This display font has an oriental character reminiscent of brush stroke calligraphy and all things Japanese. My original working title for this font was ‘Spanner’, because the lower case ‘c’, with which the design began, looked rather like the head of a spanner. I originally had in mind something more mechanical, but as it evolved and developed the font itself obviously had other ideas!
