Eisley started as an experiment with creating brushes in illustrator. I began by drawing each letter and tweaking until each one balanced next to one another. I painted over 50 paint brush strokes to give a variety of different looks to the final characters. Strategically crafted to look as real and as spontaneous as a sign painter might paint up (although possibly running a bit dry on paint giving the end result a vintage and grungy effect). Tubby came about when I made a book with Cooper Black as a headline font. I started playing with heavy forms, and as a result was Tubby. It has a fat and friendly feel, and with swash italics it is fairly versatile in use.

I am a HUGE fan of Bernard Cornwell’s ‘The Saxon Stories’. Ever since a television series has been made, the series of books is also know as ‘The Last Kingdom’. I have read them all, at break-neck speed and I can’t wait for the next book!! Wintanceastre (Winchester) is based on a 10th century Latin manuscript. I have tried to stay close to the original letters, but since Latin does not have all modern glyphs, I found myself designing the missing ones. So, before you scold me for having made a font that is historically inaccurate: it was never meant to be an exact replica, nor would anyone want an exact replica, as it would be useless for modern texts and designs. Edito is a completely new bodycopy font. The special thing about this font is, that all serifs have the same height. So no matter if you take the thinnest cut (A) or the fattest (F), you will always have aligning serifs. I started Edito as an experiment. I tried to enhance the classic and sturdy Times font. But I soon dicovered, that it would be more efficient to take only the basic idea behind Times (the robust design) and start from scratch. It turned out a real solid and useful typeface for everyday use. In due time I will add a couple of extra cuts. Yours in a journalistic mood Gert Wiescher

I built the Orchid Key font family from the ground up with the idea that there would be several different styles; the Inline Spurs style was the first to be built, which let me then subtract the spurs, inline slices, or both to make the other styles. I've never made a font quite like this before, which shows in the time it took - it's been over 5 months since I started construction! Each style contains the same character set, with 700 total glyphs. Each has the usual basics: letters, numbers, and punctuation; plus over 300 extended Latin characters for language support, and almost 200 alternates for tons of variety! Meatball is a fat and happy display font based on some lettering on a mid-20th century poster for the movie Bringing Up Baby. The lettering for the names of the stars, AudryHepburn, Cary Grant and Charles Ruggles, was the basis for Meatball. The sample was all caps and as it evolved, a lower case started to appear, etc.

Ampmosphere, a picture font, contains instruments and components from a 60's rock and roll band. After a friend's request to create a guitar graphic, I decided to start a set. Over time, more instruments were added along with amps, tubes, lights, etc. The glyphs are great to use individually or combined. 65 detailed glyphs in all... A - Z upper and lower case; 0 - 9; comma, period and forward slash. Upper case A, B, C and D are the separate strings for the stringed instruments a, b, c and d.

Alimentary (adjective): relating to nourishment or sustenance. If you've seen my other fonts, you know I tend to lean into food-based names. This name has to do with food and science combined, so it's double nerdy in the ways I like to be nerdy! I started with Alimentary Medium, which was inspired by my shorter, wider font MacGuffin - I wanted something taller, narrower, with a hip and retro feel. When I finished the Medium weight, I felt like I wanted a Light weight. Then a Heavy weight. Then I figured, "what the heck," and made an outline version of the Medium weight too. In the end, I wound up with four members of the Alimentary family, each with over 700 glyphs! Not only do they all have the basics (A-Z, a-z, 0-9, and tons of punctuation), but they also each have 330 characters for European language support, and a limited selection of Greek, Coptic, and Cyrillic characters. Plus a double handful of alternates and ligatures to add a little variety to your designs! And of course, all of the Alimentary fonts are super-smoothed, with reduced nodes and clean curves, so whether you're cutting them out, printing them, engraving them, or using them in a way I haven't even thought of, these fonts will be sharp and crisp!

The Greek font started from an experiment with designing fonts based on a geometric grid. I joined the points on the grid with straight lines to form the various characters and found that this resulted in a font that closely resembled Greek writing (derived from inscriptions carved in stone) of ancient times. I continued to develop this theme but I now accentuated the look and feel of Greek writing. The three styles shown are the results of this development. I did not kern or letterspace the individual letters since this would have been out of character with the orignal Greek writing. This means that the font is mono-spaced. At a later stage I may produce more refined and "modern" versions of these fonts. Surprisingly, the Greek SCF styles are very readable. The font is fully professional in terms of its character set. It contains over 235 characters - (upper and lower case characters, punctuation, numerals, symbols and accented characters are present). In fact, it has all the accented characters used in the major European languages.

Monde Libre is a display typeface that exudes optimism, joy, and whimsy. I designed this typeface based on a sign in a clip from some old film footage I saw somewhere. It stayed with me as a typeface that evokes the France of my dreams. Enjoy!

Oldhand is based on an original handwriting of an elderly gentleman. I worked it over carefully to keep the handmade, authentic touch.

This font was called differently when I started out building it, but after a long and insightful conversation with a good friend, I decided to call it Nebulous Promise. Nebulous Promise was made using a broken satay skewer (I like using those!) and Chinese ink. It comes with a full set of alternates for the lower case letters and extensive language support.

I love peanuts! Actually I eat peanuts every day, in the shape of Peanut Butter ... and it kind of slaps me in the face with energy and good taste! What a good way to start the day! The same thing could fit to this font: a good way to start your day is with a good design ... using my Peanut Slap font: Mix the 3 versions with your favourite colorscheme, play around with the transparency...and voila! Usually I prefer desserts that aren't overly sweet, but a week ago I lost my sense of tasting - due to Corona, and when I wanted something sweet...I preferred it overly sweet...of course because I hardly could taste the overwhelming sweetness! But now, I have my sense of tasting (and smelling!) back, and everything is back to normal. And since I completed this easy-recipe-inspired handmade font while suffering from Corona, I thought I'd name it Overly Sweet. And...well. because, the font is somewhat overly sweet (without being over the top sweet!)

Scratch up started out by testing a brush pen I bought. I penned down two alphabets: one by pressing hard on the pen and one without pressure. The result is Scratch Up: a pair of roughish tall & thin fonts. Scratch up comes with all the diacritics you need.

After a lot of time sitting at my desk, creating fonts and trying to figure out how my new software works, I really like to work out a bit. The only thing that I do not like is the music they play at the gym; it is usually a selection of poppy tunes that appeals to a large audience. But not to me. I prefer my death metal - and eighties music, as it brings back a lot of good memories. So, I bought myself some ear buds and installed a music streaming app on my phone. Yes, I know, I am probably the last person on earth who discovered streaming... One day, during a workout session, I listened to a list of eighties music and one song that I had forgotten about started playing: Rappers Delight by The Sugarhill Gang. When I started working on the font, I had to think about the song and named it Square Beat. Square Beat font, other than the name implies, is a rounded, handmade font, ideally suited for books and magazines aimed at a young audience, toy packaging or posters. It comes with great language support, including Vietnamese.

Akagi started as a rough sketch while on a really long plane ride to Tokyo in 2007. I wanted to develop a sans that was a complete departure from my successful Aaux Pro (now Aaux Next) sans serif family. Whereas Aaux and its siblings are rather unforgiving and stark in their presentation, I wanted this new sans serif to "smile" at you when it's on the page. When the plane landed and I realized I did not sleep through the 15 hour trip, my brain shut off, the laptop closed and I hopped in the car to the hotel—forgetting the "new sans" folder on my desktop. Fast forward a few months and I found myself seeing a lot of crisp, rigid, robot-like sans serif typefaces everywhere... I enjoy these new crop of faces but wanted to see something "friendlier" and remembered my earlier sketch work. The groundwork was there screaming at me to complete and Akagi arose from the ashes. To be truly satisfied with it personally, a great deal of time was spent trying to create a harmony between line and curve in an attempt to show that you can be crisp, clean and legible and still keep some personality. The Light and Fat weights (regular and italic) are my favorites and I hope to see them as the workhorses of the typeface.

RoyalBavarian was comissioned by King Ludwig the First of Bavaria about 1834. He was probably the greatest king Bavaria ever had, but he fell in disgrace for a short affair with the infamous Lola Montez and subsequently had to resign. He died in 1868, peaceful and happy in Nice on the French Riviera. I happened on an original etching of his type-guidelines for official writers of those days about 20 years ago. I always thought it was a very nice Fraktur (Blackletter), not a sturdy militaristic one as most of them are. Being me, I started with first tests immediately and then just forgot the font on my computer. When I was sorting out old stuff a couple of months ago I happened on the etchings once again and kept on working intermittently on the letters. The Plain cut is pretty much like the king wanted it. Diaconia Old Style is a new rendition of my workhorse body copy font that I originally designed to use for the body copy of "Printing in a Digital World." I became increasingly upset with the lack of lowercase numbers and true small caps. Diaconia started life as a modification of one of the Dutch Bible fonts I traced. It has changed a lot since then (although I have a hard time telling how much because I have lost the original). The plain and italic work especially well when used in very large sizes as display faces. The other four variants (small caps, heavy, heavy italic, and black) are designed for use in book production. Because I format all my own books, I was able to design fonts that met my needs exactly: lowercase numbers, SMALL CAPS font, Mac Command, Option, and Control symbols, ballot box in the section slot, and several other special characters. DiaconiaPro is the OpenType family of my body copy workhorse. This is the first font family I ever created: classic, elegant, easy to read. 583 characters: small caps, oldstyle figures, numerators, denominators, lining figures, accents and a lot more.

»QUINCY« started as an art project. I was stitching roughly cutout letters together on a piece of wooden board, but I didn’t like the result! So I ended up with a font in three cutout styles. I thought it was so unusual and really beautifully ugly, that I finished it, adding flashes here and there. Now I am offering this absolutely unusual font as a packet of three for you to enjoy. Have at least as much fun working with it as I had designing the packet. The font is great for packaging or posters, or whatever comes to your imaginations.

Frogurt is a soft, plump, rounded slab serif font full of fun! Its fat curves make me think of frozen yogurt, and I've always preferred the shorthand "frogurt" to "fro-yo." I was inspired by a 30-year-old hand-carved wooden sign; when I went to try to find a font with a similar look, I couldn't really find anything soft and funky enough! It was a real Goldilocks situation: that one was too thin, that one's corners were too sharp, that one's baseline was too strict. So since I couldn't find something I liked, I made something I liked! I gave Frogurt big pillowy slab serifs, a slightly irregular baseline, and just enough tilt and variation to be fun while still keeping things really clean and readable. The outlines are cleaned up and sharp, so Frogurt will work well for both printing and cutting. Frogurt clocks in with just over 570 glyphs total, including all of the basics (A-Z, a-z, 0-9, and a ton of punctuation), plus over 310 extended Latin characters for language support, and over 50 alternates and ligatures to add some variety and flair. Frogurt is PUA-encoded for easy access to all characters.

Austrual SRF is a collection of star dingbats created by Jeff Levine for Stella Roberts Fonts. There are over sixty images for adding the perfect intergalactic embellishment to any project. When designing a typeface, one has to be conscious of superfluous details. Although I am always tempted to add little personal touches, experience taught me that the phrase -less is more- is totally true. In Model, the letters (like models do) participated of a contest: An event in which models engage in competition against each other, often for a prize or similar incentive. The prize was staying in the font! yay! Tall, delicate, refined, the right amount of elegancy: These were some of the aspects to be chosen. Typographically speaking, these things were achieved thanks to a tall x-height (which leaded the font to be somehow condensed), a subtle contrast between thicks and thins, and just the right amount of decorative swirls. The result is a nice script that can be used in magazines, invitations, posters, book-covers and works very well when used over photographs. Get Model and let it be the star of the catwalk. STYLES Model Pro and Model Small Pro are the most complete styles of the font. Both have all the ligatures and decorative glyphs seen in posters above (OT programmed). Model Std One, Std Two and Std Three are reduced versions of Pro. This means they have less glyphs inside. TIP If you are planning to print the font in small sizes, it’s highly recommended to purchase Model Small Pro. Its thins are thicker so they will be better printed.
