Secession is a very readable typeface, suitable for short blocks of text. If you have grown weary of the standard sans-serif faces one sees all the time, you may want to use Secession as a fresh and distinctive substitute. Like Kunstler Grotesk, Secession is one of a number of typeface designs that attempts to reconcile Germany’s blackletter tradition with the international familiarity of roman letterforms in a simple, robust design suitable for meeting the demands of a modern industrial economy, while rejecting the extraneous ornamentation of the departing Victorian era. Unlike Kunstler Grotesk, Secession was designed with a lower case. Secession Bold was originally jointly released as Halbfette Secession by Bauer & Company of Stuttgart and H. Berthold AG of Berlin around 1898. The rest of the family was designed by HiH. The basic family of four: Text, Oblique, Bold and BoldOblique are available in two versions: one set with the standard contemporary lining or ranging numerals for spreadsheets and tables and one set of old-style figures (with OSF in font name) for use with text. The two versions of the basic family, Secession and Secession OSF were released in July 2006. Cousins include ExtraBold, SCOSF Text, and two multi-lingual versions of the text weight. Secession ML includes the Latin Extended-A character set in unicode format plus 17 ligatures and a few strays. Oddsorts is delighted to present Bradley Wayside and Bradley Chicopee as its début offerings. Begun in 2000 as a wedding gift for the designer’s wife and used privately for years, they’re finally available to the public. The fonts were inspired by the masterful art nouveau lettering of Will H. Bradley, whose posters for Ault & Wiborg printing inks and Victor Bicycles continue to draw collectors after more than a century. Wayside and Chicopee expand the twenty-odd characters Bradley drew into a comprehensive multiscript system that includes modern Greek and extended Cyrillic alphabets, ordinals, automatic fractions, and ornaments. Bradley Wayside and Chicopee derive much of their charm from an organic mix of shape and spacing intrinsic to hand drawings. Mimicking that spirit in type used to mean painstaking substitution and adjustment of characters. When enabled, one automatically substitutes non-connecting alternate characters at the ends of words, the other substitutes even bigger t crossbars than the Standard Ligature feature does. Smart apostrophes and ligatures Other subtle but hopefully helpful features include smart apostrophes, which insert themselves between two script characters in common situations without breaking their connection, and a few ligatures that also make character connections more seamless.

Pseudonym is a low-contrast, subtly-flared serif available in four weights across three styles in both roman and italic. As with all of my typeface designs, I am creating fonts that I would use myself for branding purposes—typefaces with style and purpose that are intended for use in creating logos and distinctive branding typography. I wanted to create a typeface that had incisive flared serifs combined with the strength and solidity of modern grotesque faces. The result is Pseudonym, which I feel has great presence, style and legibility. Although I must admit, I had to tone down the flared serifs during the design process in order to achieve that :) I’m sure you will have great fun playing with some of the Open Type features that I’ve added to Pseudonym. There’s a full set of true small caps with their corresponding diacritics and figures. There are also a number of discretionary ligatures, these are chosen from the glyphs palette in your layout app to replace pairs of standard characters. You’ll also enjoy making use of the catchwords – these have been created to harmonise with each style, again, giving you more flexibility and scope to create some innovative typography. Finally, there are some alternate characters for /C/D/O/. Nuyork Arabic was designed to emphasize on the individual Arabic letter visual traditional characteristics. Including 5 weights, it was designed with both text and display applications in mind. This font is intended to produce virtually cursive texts without eliminating the clarity or look-and-feel of the individual Arabic letters. Offering glyphs for the full Extended Arabic Unicode Standards 6.1, including the latest Arabic Supplement and Extended-A Unicode blocks, Nuyork Arabic incorporates comprehensive support for Quranic texts and other Arabetic scripts, including African sub-Saharan scripts. Careful design considerations were given to make sure that composed Arabetic text is visually prominent and stands well next to Latin. A rustic black letter from the 1930ies — with stylistic alternates. The high degree of abstraction of this typeface allows it to appear modern, even though its shapes clearly show an origin from Fraktur and Gothic. The letters present the effect of woodcarving or silhouette cuttings as they are defined exclusively with straight lines and sharp corners. By doing without any bowls, the typeface becomes a stylistic entity with a decorative effect. Palmona is especially appealing in combination with bold illustrations. Some of the characters of Palmona are available in one or more alternate forms which can be accessed manually or automatically. Use of these alternates is most easily operated with OpenType-Functions Standard-Ligatures and Discretional Ligatures in the user program. With Standard Ligatures activated, problematic letter compositions are substituted with appropriate ligatures. Likewise, in certain letter combinations the alternates are inserted. The Discretional Ligatures include additional alternatives. Configuration of the characters of the Palmona font is according to Unicode ISO 8859-1 (Latin1). Consequently all characters for all European languages with Latin type are covered — including Turkish, the Baltic languages, East European and Scandinavian languages. A Stylish Technology Sans Serif Initiate began as a digitization of a film typeface from LetterGraphics in the early 70's known as "Kent". The original specimen was only in a Black weight with a tall x-height and included standard Capitals, Lowercase, Numerals and minimal Punctuation. Jana Nikolic was finishing her degree program at the Faculty of Applied Arts, in Belgrade, with a final project that would combine her two majors: type and book design. Three stories from William Saroyan's My Name Is Aram would provide the text for the book, to be set in a typeface that Nikolic would design. Nikolic knew something special was happening the moment she put pen to paper. The letters just emerged," she recalls. "I started to explore a few new pens and found one I loved. I was able to make its tip bend with pressure." Like the family Saroyan writes about, the design flowing from Nikolic's pen would be simple but a little quirky. "When there were a whole bunch of little black letters around me," continues Nikolic, "I saw that this was going to be a very interesting typeface family." Nikolic drew Latin and Cyrillic letters, lowercase and capital letters, wide letters and narrow letters. She was surprised at how quickly and easily the design came. "There were no badly written letters," she says. "I hardly had to rework them and they fit together remarkably well." Odisseia: Monospaced Typeface Made on Earth by Plau. Plau presents Odisseia, a monospace type family in 8 styles designed with simplicity of shapes and a humanist touch. We’ve ventured into monospace territory, where all letters must occupy the same amount of space. This style is usually associated with typewriters and computer terminal fonts. Like all monospaced fonts, every letter align vertically in a multi-line setting. The rhythm created is peculiar, since large letters such as m and w occupy the same space as narrow ones like i. Because we have 4 different weights: light, regular, bold and black the design of some characters have to be adapted to fit the same width and achieve a constant light/dark value throughout. A fairy tale, is a folklore genre that takes the form of a short story. Story tale, is a new type family for wonderous, romantic, magical and playful narratives brought to you by Resitenza. The 1970s were wild and whimsical times. Book covers from this time were iconic, innovative and enduring; bold colour and stylised pattern dominated. Story Tales forms were inspired by 70s books covers, and aims to encapsulate the zeitgeist of the time, but the typeface is by no means constrained to revivals of this era. There are nods to 60's flower power & psychedelia, chromatic type and decorative queues from the 1800s and the spirit of post-war era children's almanacks. It is also perfectly suited to inspiring curiosity, imagination and fantasy in today's audiences. Witch Hazel has been quite a while in the making; a fun font with slightly flared serifs, lots of ligatures and alternates, and over 1150 glyphs! This font is great for holiday designs, from Valentine's Day to Halloween to Christmas! Rome Ionic is a serif display font inspired by architectural features in ancient Roman building columns. The Ionic columns are taller and slender compared to 'Doric and Corinthian' columns. On the Ionic Capitol column, there is a geometric spiral like a paper roll. We used those elements in this roman style font. The base of this font is serif shaped, more slender and towering, and equipped with 8-18 stylistic set alternates. This is the development of the basic shape on which we added spiral ornaments to the left and right. This serif font's characteristic is soft and simple, not sharp and complicated like Doric and Corinthian. The composition of the softness of the basic and alternate fonts does not reduce the splendor of this font. We complemented this font with support for the Latin extend as an analogy to the Roman region. Rome Ionic is perfect for 'impressive luxury and power' designs. With this font, your branding will show the robustness and refute the splendor of other products.

Sequel Geo is a geometric/neo-grotesque hybrid superfamily, influenced by formalized sans-serif typefaces from Germany and Swiss modernist type design—particularly Max Bill’s greek-styled lettering. 8 subfamilies and 120 individual fonts allow for a wide range of typographic expressions. The Heinemann fonts were initially developed by the in-house design team at Heinemann educational publishing out of the necessity to find the perfect font for use in early primary reading books and literacy products. Basic Heinemann is defined by longer ascenders and descenders, which help children to distinguish between letters; rounded edges on all letterforms, which help the reader focus on the individual letter shape; and modified characters (eg., a and g), which ensure instant recognition of letterforms. Kade is a display/semi display sans family of fonts based on vernacular lettering photographed over the last ten years in and around the harbors of Amsterdam and Rotterdam. Hence the name Kade that translates into English as ‘quay’, also the name of its designer. Kade grew slowly from many different ideas and elements. The letters reflects the industrial method in which they are cut for the side of ships from large steel plates. Frequently subtleties of curves are compromised due to the cutting tools and the fact engineers are in control. Kade’s italics have an experimental character and were produced in an unorthodox manner by rotating 8 degrees, rather than slanting the roman characters, a method sometimes employed in shipyards. A type of “handwriting” discovered by chance, extremely abstract On April 8, 1948 a certain Walter Plaga wrote a crude poem about a hero on a commemorative plaque. The very poor reproduction of the handwritten original, etched into a metal sheet, produced extremely abstract forms so that — even if unintentional — a script completely void of bowls was created. That which originally was the normal clumsy handwriting of a layman thus transformed into a pseudo-modern deconstructive typeface, which in the 21st century appears contemporary. The capital letters especially reflect the original: in part they show forms labeled incorrectly ”old German“ handwriting, which is actually Latin, in the letters A D G I J K L S V W X Z , whereas C H N O P R appear very modern. Truly a form of handwriting: without joining the letters, especially between the lower case characters, a silhouette effect is formed. To a great extent Hero is impressive due to its driven-to-the-limit abstraction and to a lesser extent by retaining an antiquated and nearly illegible effect.

Here is a wonderfully charming typeface similar in style to the folklore lettering created by Walter Crane, the prolific children’s book illustrator. This English artist created many beautiful, flower-decorated works during the Arts and Crafts movement that flourished between 1860 and 1910. English Garden SG Regular contains many of Crane’s original whimsical and quirky characters. Introducing Meritocracy, a full-featured handwritten font with tons of alternate characters and OpenType features. My goal with this font was to make you a typeface that will look as much like hand lettering as possible. Using the built-in OpenType pseudo-random contextual alternates and over 300 individually drawn ligatures, you can infuse your typography with personality and variety.** OpenType Features Meritocracy comes with more than 900 glyphs! Specific OpenType features include contextual alternates, stylistic alternates, a second stylistic set for variety, multiple alternate glyphs for many letters (accessed through the glyphs panel), multilingual support (including multiple currency symbols), standard numbers, and seven ampersand styles. DIN Next is a typeface family inspired by the classic industrial German engineering designs, DIN 1451 Engschrift and Mittelschrift. Akira Kobayashi began by revising these two faces-who names just mean ""condensed"" and ""regular"" before expanding them into a new family with seven weights (Light to Black). Each weight ships in three varieties: Regular, Italic, and Condensed, bringing the total number of fonts in the DIN Next family to 21. DIN Next is part of Linotype's Platinum Collection. Linotype has been supplying its customers with the two DIN 1451 fonts since 1980. Recently, they have become more popular than ever, with designers regularly asking for additional weights. The abbreviation ""DIN"" stands for ""Deutsches Institut für Normung e.V."", which is the German Institute for Industrial Standardization. In 1936 the German Standard Committee settled upon DIN 1451 as the standard font for the areas of technology, traffic, administration and business. The design was to be used on German street signs and house numbers. The committee wanted a sans serif, thinking it would be more legible, straightforward, and easy to reproduce. They did not intend for the design to be used for advertisements and other artistically oriented purposes. Nevertheless, because DIN 1451 was seen all over Germany on signs for town names and traffic directions, it became familiar enough to make its way onto the palettes of graphic designers and advertising art directors. The digital version of DIN 1451 would go on to be adopted and used by designers in other countries as well, solidifying its worldwide design reputation. There are many subtle differences in DIN Next's letters when compared with DIN 1451 original. These were added by Kobayashi to make the new family even more versatile in 21st-century media. For instance, although DIN 1451's corners are all pointed angles, DIN Next has rounded them all slightly. Even this softening is a nod to part of DIN 1451's past, however. Many of the signs that use DIN 1451 are cut with routers, which cannot make perfect corners; their rounded heads cut rounded corners best. Linotype's DIN 1451 Engschrift and Mittelschrift are certified by the German DIN Institute for use on official signage projects. Since DIN Next is a new design, these applications within Germany are not possible with it. However, DIN Next may be used for any other project, and it may be used for industrial signage in any other country! DIN Next has been tailored especially for graphic designers, but its industrial heritage makes it surprisingly functional in just about any application. The DIN Next family has been extended with seven Arabic weights and five Devanagari weights. The display of the Devanagari fonts on the website does not show all features of the font and therefore not all language features may be displayed correctly.
