Tertius, with its high ascenders and clubbed serifs, is a modern interpretation of the classic Carolingian style (7th - 9th centuries AD). There was no capital form in the Carolinian hand and Roman square capitals were originally used with it. The Carolingian hand began, after a while, to develop more cursive tendencies as people looked for a way to speed up the writing process. I have “capitalized” on this trend and have devised an appropriate and dramatic set of flowing capitals for this family. With its elegant swashes and bold letter shapes, Tertius embodies the romance of medieval life, of knights, castles, and chivalry. Opa-locka JNL is named for a city in Miami-Dade County, Florida and is based on an Art Nouveau-era bit of hand lettering found on vintage sheet music. Legendary aviation pioneer Glenn Curtiss (who successfully developed the city of Miami Springs and the city of Hialeah with James Bright) began the development of Opa-locka around 1925 as a planned community with a "1001 Arabian Nights" theme. Plans for this exclusive community included a country club and a small private airfield, but the hurricane of 1926 derailed Curtiss' original vision of the city. Opa-locka gradually took shape as a residential area for middle-class families, but the closing of a long-established Marine base, changing demographics and a reputation for being a hot-spot for crime, drug abuse and corruption tarnished this once-grand community (which boasts the largest collection of Moorish Revival architecture in the Western hemisphere). Old-time Miamians bristle when the city's name (an abbreviation of a Seminole place name, spelled Opa-tisha-wocka-locka) is mis-spelled as "Opa-Locka", "Opa Locka" or "Opalocka". The correct name is hyphenated, and the second part is in lower case.

The major focus of my life and ministry at this point is book design. In the brave new world of 21st century self-publishing a new paradigm has arisen: the indie small shop. One of the problems is that all books are published as ebooks, and many books are published only as ebooks. There are two problems with this: character availability and licensing. The licensing problem is solved by including an ebook license with all of the Librum E fonts. The character availability is the core of the design. OpenType features do not work yet with ePUBs [though it is in the spec, if I understand correctly]. Kerning doesn't work, and so on. So these five fonts have only the 256-character [or less] ASCII set. A separate small caps is included. It has lining figures {proportional} and small caps instead of the graphics. The other four fonts have graphics to give bullet choices in lists, oldstyle figures {proportional}, and care given to character shapes so they will work better without kerning. Speakeasy is a 5-font combo thematically built as a toolset for designing menus and liquor labels as well as coffees, restaurants and signs when the desire is to communicate with style. Originally put together to be used by the most famous speakeasy in Buenos Aires, this set contains a script, a minor (almost flat) wedge serif, a flare serif, a sans serif, and a bold Didone. Blanchard is a revival and elaborate extension of Muriel, a 1950 metal face made by Joan Trochut-Blanchard for the Fonderie Typographique Française, that was published simultaneously by the Spanish Gans foundry under the name Juventud. Nagham was designed using uniform glyph thickness throughout and exaggerated letter heights to offer a vertical look and feel. It supports all Arabetic scripts covered by Unicode 6.1, and the latest Arabic Supplement and Extended-A Unicode blocks, including support for Quranic texts. This font family includes two letter spacing flavors: isolated for small text and overlapped for large or display text. The two flavors come with two weights, regular and bold, each of which has normal and left-slanted Italic versions. The script design of this font family follows the Arabetics Mutamathil Taqlidi style utilizing varying x-heights. The Mutamathil Taqlidi type style uses one glyph per every basic Arabic Unicode character or letter, as defined by the Unicode Standards, and one additional final form glyph, for each freely-connecting letter of the Arabic cursive text. Nagham includes the required Lam-Alif ligatures in addition to all vowel diacritic ligatures. In 2019, P22 Type Foundry met with Milton Glaser (1929–2020) to initiate the official digital series of typefaces designed by Glaser in the 1960s and 70s. P22 Glaser Babyteeth is the first family released in the series. According to Glaser: “The inspiration for my Babyteeth type face came from this sign I photographed in Mexico City. It’s an advertisement for a tailor. The E was drawn as only someone unfamiliar with the alphabet could have conceived. Yet it is completely legible. I tried to invent the rest of the alphabet consistent with this model.” P22 Glaser Babyteeth was based on original drawings and phototype proofs from the Milton Glaser Studios archives. Over the years there have been many typefaces that borrowed heavily from the Glaser designs, but these are the only official Babyteeth fonts approved by Milton Glaser Studio and the Estate of Milton Glaser. The solid and open versions are designed to overlap for two-color font effects and can even be mixed and matched for multi layer chromatic treatments.
