The handmade title on the cover for the 1939 edition of “A Wand’ring Minstrel” [from Gilbert and Sullivan’s “The Mikado”] was rendered with a round nib lettering pen in an Art Deco style. This type design is now available as Cover Letter JNL in both regular and oblique versions. However, the font’s name is a bit of a pun, as it has nothing to do with cover letters, but rather the lettering found on the cover of the sheet music.

Monolina is a contemporary monolinear script that is based on the contrast between classical (beautiful) calligraphy and quickly jotted manuscript (sketches). As all styles are based on the single stroke of a round nib pen, the letter is rounded. The typeface features two sets of capital and curly uppercase letters, swash characters and alternative lowercase letters, which combine well in three styles. The font also features swash figures and decimal figures for writing years and summer sales. Accent marks for all languages using Latin letters, currency symbols and punctuation marks are included. The typeface comes across as fresh as is particularly effective at headline point sizes.

Tailor was a study of slab serif style with round and comfortable feel. I wanted to merge round shapes with exaggerated ink traps for legibility.

In 1939 the Stephenson Blake Company bought a very popular script called Undine Ronde and began marketing under the name Amanda Ronde. Although Undine/Amanda was quite popular and can be seen in many advertisements from the 1930s and 1940s, there seems to be no surviving record stating the original foundry or designer. We thought that six and half decades of dust layers over the once-popular typeface were enough, so here and now you have its complete and expanded digital incarnation, Adore. It is quite easy to see why this typeface was popular. A round script with graceful meaty curves is rarely found and can be used in plenty of applications. Wedding paraphernalia, chapter titles, posters, poetry, book covers, religious literature... you name it, Adore can fit it. Aside from its totality being unmatched by currently available designs, Adore also possesses some of the most unique and imaginative letter shapes. The narrow loops on the B, P and R, the minuscule-like Z, the looped b and d, the descending h... all these shapes contribute to a breathtaking and adorable calligraphic work unlike any other. The original design came in a basic alphabet, but we have updated it for current digital technologies, and expanded it to include plenty of alternates and ligatures, as well as some ornaments. The Postscript Type 1 and True Type versions come in two fonts, the second containing the alternates and extras, while the Open Type version is a single font containing all the alternates and extras in conveniently programmed features, easily accessible at the push of a button in OpenType-supporting software. Introducing the first typeface by Azure studio, Space 101! Space 101 is a handcrafted chalkboard reminiscent typeface with irregular slender lines and a quirky personality. This typeface is perfect to add character and charm to bodies of text and heading where the slight imperfections tie your whole design together. The inspiration for Space 101 was found in an old signwriting book. The character shapes were updated and improved while still retaining the same charm. The typeface gave me interstellar space travel vibes reminiscent of early books based around space travel, which is why I decided to call it Space 101. Following rules, perhaps too closely. The first full font created by Ray Mullin who strongly believes a font need not be pretty to be valid. Each capital shares similar angles, as does each lowercase, making for a typeface only a mother could love. The rounded style was the true inspiration for the original, but logically it had to come second. Based entirely around Bong God but losing the harsh edges to become a usable futuristic type. Legible, but not readable, recommended in small doses.

The P22 Platten font family has been revisited and expanded by designer Colin Kahn. Platten is based on lettering found in German fountain pen practice books from the 1920s (you may have seen the similar Speedball books in the US). This round tip pen lettering is comparable to the basic forms used in grammar school teaching alphabets, but with a few original characteristics. The Italic version has even more of these unusual features. Geometric and simple yet casual and timeless. Perfect for many uses.

The Dragon Quill family is the 3rd reincarnation of earlier (yet to be released) dragon fonts. A simple 'Dragon Round' grew to become 'Dragon Flare', then evolved to become 'Dragon Quill'. Within the Dragon Quill family, 1 'Subtle Goth' is the most basic, followed by 2 'Goth' and 3 'Gothic'. 4 'Tribal Tattoo' is the most complex font in the family, adding hooks, spikes, holes and extra shapes around and between letters. Because of the complexity of level 4 'Tribal Tattoo', occasionally inserting letters into existing text may cause some unusual effects between the letters. If you find this distracting, a workaround can be to convert it into one of the other fonts (like Subtle Goth), while editing, then to turn it back into 'Tribal Tattoo' when finished.

Poster Hand is an informal, casual script that echoes the hand lettering of those ubiquitous signs found all around us. A Tokeh (or ‘Tokay’) is a nocturnal arboreal gecko, native to Asia and some Pacific Islands. The name comes from the sound it makes. Tokeh font is a cute brush font, which comes with some swashes, alternates and ligatures.

Anca typeface started as a comission work for Fest Anca, an international animation festival. They needed something to complement the corporate identity of the festival. Inspiration came from a sketch made by my friend long time ago, which had a tremendous potential. As letters were digitized and the basic alphabet was completed, a very practical and universal typeface resulted. The whole type family has a playful and simple look with rounded stroke endings as well as long ascenders. The construction skeleton uses the minimum number of strokes and as a consequence, some original letter shapes (Q, w, j, &, A, §) were produced. Despite the fact that most letter shapes are based on geometry, some strokes are intentionally irregular, which creates a very natural feeling. Anca is appropriate for setting short paragraphs, headings and big inscriptions.

Terrace JNL is a bold, sturdy Art Deco titling face based on hand lettering found on the cover of some 1940s-vintage sheet music for the organ.

This font was inspired by an old photographic film package I found. Over time, the vertical slits in the letters have become more complex and acquired slanted sections. The font is suitable for accidences: headlines, posters... maybe you can suggest something interesting ;)

Ad Lib designed by Freeman Craw for the American Type Founders (ATF) in 1961. A bold Grotesque with irregular rectangular counters in round characters. This type was designed by cutting the letter images out and thus has some wood-cut character. Some lower case characters have slight inclination. Initially numerous alternative characters were provided. Unusual shapes make this typeface useful for advertising and display work.
