The Adinkra alphabet is a way to write some of the languages spoken in Ghana and Ivory Coast, such as Akan, Dagbani, Ewe and Ga. It is a simplified version of the Adinkra symbols, and was introduced in 2015 by Charles M. Korankye, who has written a number of books about it. According to tradition, the Adinkra symbols were created by Nana Kwadwo Agyemang Adinkra, the King Gyaman people in the Ashanti region of Ghana from 1810 to 1820. Or they were created by Gyaman people, and the king liked them so much that he wore them on his clothes and named that after himself. The Adinkra symbols are used as decoration, logos, arts, sculpture, pottery and so on. The symbols represent sayings, proverbs or concepts, such as wisdom, authority, strength, unity, love adaptability, wealth, peace, war or agreement. Since Unicode codes have not been assigned yet, it is designed on a latin-based font. Please contact me if you want changes to the keyboard layout.

Isabel was made out of necessity to create a new font for children and teenagers, that could be enough friendly and versatile for text in words or even easy-to- read long texts. The purpose of Isabel is to combine all the nice and friendly features of the simple letters that the teachers teach to the pupils at primary school, as they starting to learn to read, together with the normal editorial fonts we read every day. Baltimore Type Foundry released its Antique Geometric series by 1883, including it that year on advance sheets for their 1886 Specimen Book, shortly after the firm was taken over by Charles J. Cary. We have chosen to call our version of the face “Baltimore Geometric” because we like the name better. The Central Type Foundry-Boston Type Foundry combine followed with a similar typeface in 1884, using an engraving machine to cut directly into matrices (Gray page 124). It was called simply “Geometric”. As noted in the write-up for HiH font Teutonia, a number of similar typeface designs have appeared over the years. The simplicity of concept is inviting and certainly fits nicely with some of the intellectual theories that developed in the early twentieth century, like the De Stijl and Constructivist movements. This font is useful in conveying an image that is logical and mechanical, implying a high degree of functionality.

Framealot is a frame or border or page divider construction kit. By choosing and mixing various elements, a wide variety of different geometric borders or frames or dividers are possible. The largest set is on the upper-case keys. There are two other sets on the lower case keys (plus the comma and period.) The characters above the number keys (the whole top row with shift, plus {}| keys are another set. And there are a couple of other small sets. Not all the sets allow vertical dividers. Outlined versions are available on the outline style, and the filled style either inverts the pattern or removes white interior sections for the outline version (and has some other differences compared to the other two versions). Use a character map to find all the parts of a set, type them out on your document, and then copy and paste to construct your border or frame. Have fun with it!

Thirty years after its first appearance, Jovica Veljović has produced ITC New Veljovic Pro, a completely revised edition of his first typeface, ITC Veljovic (1984). Prof. Veljović has tapped into all the experience he has garnered over the past decades; by carefully adjusting the proportions of the characters he has provided the new typeface with a more harmonious presence. The serifs have been subtly curtailed and the letters made slightly more condensed. Some new features of ITC New Veljovic are the double-story “g” with its completely closed loop and the more open forms of the “c” and “e”. In the italic variants, the latter is much rounder. Thanks to Veljović’s outstanding work, the optimized ITC New Veljovic can now be used in all contemporary applications. The new Condensed style saves considerable space when it comes to setting longer texts. Deus is when type design is brought to extreme. It tries to answer the question whether you can design all glyphs in one axis of stress. It does not try to be all purpose, useful at all sizes, legible or readable and most of all it does not try to be neutral. It has its own style you either accept or not. But if you do so, it has many great stuff inside. Every glyph has the same width across four masters, so you can change the style in one title or even make an animation out of that. It also has some cool animated emojis, so make sure you take all four styles! Deus has two sets of styles. "Deus" that has an expanded glyph set, and "Deus Basic" that comes with a limited glyph set. This is the second collaboration between insigne and Portland Studios; the first yielded the inky and active script Blue Goblet. Wolfsblood is a new display face by Jim Ford, adapted from hand-lettered logos spawned by punk rock bands like The Misfits and Bad Brains. The style can be traced back further to Hollywood and the explosion of low-budget exploitation, horror and sci-fi films, which also had an influence in punk rock. Wolfsblood captures this bizarre dark-spirited lettering which has become a staple in the designer‘s work for bands and posters. Nexus (2004) consists of three matching variants – a serif, a sans and a slab – which makes it a highly versatile typeface. Nexus started as an alternative to Seria, a typeface Majoor had designed some 5 years earlier. But soon the design developed into a new typeface, with numerous changes in proportions and in details and with a redrawn italic. Besides the three connected versions (Nexus Serif, Nexus Sans, Nexus Mix) Majoor designed a monospaced version called Nexus Typewriter. The Nexus family is a workhorse typeface system like Scala, with features such as small caps in all weights, four different sorts of numbers and an extensive set of ligatures. All fonts in the Nexus family come in regular, italic, bold and bold italic. Free bonus: there are more than 100 elegant Swash italics and dozens of arrows and other icons. The Nexus family was awarded the First Prize at the Creative Review Type Design Awards 2006.

Hadron is a fusion of gothic black letter and foundational letter forms. It has a heavy flat pen influence but is combined with more modern letter forms for increased legibility over that offered by black letter fonts. Unlike most black letter fonts, Hadron can be set all caps using the first level of caps. A basic design kernel based on the caps “O” and “H” was created first. These letter forms consist of an interplay between curves and straight lines with abrupt transitions and also possess some of the geometric crispness of a modern sans serif. The rest of the Hadron font was developed around this “O” and “H” kernel. This font could be used for any application requiring a formal black letter or foundational lettering look. Hadron could also be used for invitations, brochures and posters. The first level of caps and lower case is basic enough to set a large body of text. It could also be set all caps at that level.

Inspired by lettering on an Amsterdam church facade and a ladies clothing store window, Donald DBXL Beekman started drawing the first incarnation of Bon Bon already in 2004. The original idea was an alphabet design with slanted oval inner shapes and extremely long and striking serifs. This proved to be a quite demanding design job, so It took Bon Bon some time to get finished. But now it’s here in all its extravagant glory. Most recently a number of lowercase characters were added to make Bon Bon more versatile. Totally insane and over-top-the-top it has been called. But hey, we all love Bon Bon. Don't we?

Known to many eastern artists as the California Poster Letter because it originated in the West, this old 1930s style has reappeared in digital form. Carl Holmes, in his wonderful book on old lettering styles, pays tribute to this uniquely American design. Faintly reminiscent of the lettering of Fred G. Cooper, California Poster Bold is at times wildly exaggerated and boisterous. Letters appear to be inflated and loopy. The design might aptly be described as a kind of rollicking Cooper Black (Oswald Bruce Cooper). An extensive range of alternates and figures has been provided for your convenience. I am (trying to) learn Danish using an app on my phone. The grammar and vocabulary are not that difficult, as the Danish language is very close to the Dutch language. The pronunciation, however, is quite tricky. Words look simple when written down, but when pronounced, they sound very different. Take ‘pige’ (‘girl’) - it reads ‘pee-guh’, right? Well, it is pronounced ‘pee-uh’. Or how about ‘brød’ (meaning bread)? If you keep in mind that the o-slash is pronounced as the ‘i’ in bird - almost like ‘uh’, it should be br-uh-d, right? Wrong again. It is pronounced br-uh-l. Aaargghh! I will succeed, hopefully! Utroligt is a Danish word meaning ‘incredible’. It is a nice, uncomplicated all caps font. I made it with a cheap rollerball pen and some nice French paper. Comes with double letter ligatures and all the diacritics you’d like - including the danish ones.

Lu Nolasco, also known as Lunol, is a fresh representative of a new generation of Souther American lettering artists. She was born in Lima, Peru. After learning from some of the region’s best teachers and exploring the pointed nib on her own, she became a prolific lettering workshop instructor herself. Miraflores is one of Lima’s main tourist attractions. An upscale district with a great window on the Pacific ocean, it is the place where Lu looks for inspiration. It particularly inspired this “Looking flowers” (Miranda las flores), Lunol’s first typeface, designed in collaboration with Ale Paul. Veranda Poster was derived from a European art supply manufacturer’s logotype done in the Vienna (Wien) Austria style. This distinctive classic style was used by artists such as Julius Klinger and Willy Willrab in the 1920s. Two new faces have been added to the original version - Veranda Poster Small Caps and Veranda Poster Alternates. Here is an extensive collection of capital and small cap alternates plus a wide selection of figures for almost any use. The contemporary alternate additions have a slightly Russian flavor. The combination of all three styles makes for striking logo and display settings. All three styles are now available in the OpenType Std format. Some additional characters have been added to this OpenType version as stylistic alternates. This advanced feature works in current versions of Adobe Creative Suite InDesign, Creative Suite Illustrator, and Quark XPress. Check for OpenType advanced feature support in other applications as it gradually becomes available with upgrades.

It was originally inspired by my winter scarf knitting exploits. I discovered that making wool scarves was generating beautiful patterns and I wanted them to become a source of inspiration for a style. I made a few collages, and they became letters. Other characters came up with ease. It is readable, but long essays are not its main purpose. It is decorative and will look casual and very attractive on any ad as a title or a short phrase. It also demonstrates very good performance in automatic 3D generators, like Xara 3D maker, used in making examples of how this font can be utilised. It was designed to be thin, soft, with the capacity to cover empty space and to create a vibrant environment. Small characters are different from capital letters, they are stylistic alternates. Some letters are slightly ominous or dynamic, others create a soothing feeling. Using several colors make it shine, but it is complex, it looks good in monochromatic compositions as well.

DM PopCap is the third typeface released by DM Founts. It was created to accompany a 2013 LEGO-based project, which itself was inspired by the music video for Scream by Michael and Janet Jackson. I had to create the typeface in order to make title cards, as no such typeface appeared to exist. Although the resulting typeface looks similar to the text appearing in the music video, I also set myself the challenge of creating the remaining characters of the alphabet, as well as others that some would find useful. As suggested by the music video, the typeface would be ideal for a futuristic or technological setting, particularly concerning space travel. In the project I had paired this typeface with Myriad Pro. As with my other offerings, this font is intended for use heading or standalone title use - but it also appears to work on its own for small paragraphs of text.

The design of Rosenbaum started with the idea of an eclectic merger of didone stroke pattern and contrast, uncial letterforms and blackletter appearance. It was a destillation experiment. It happened around christmas in 2011. The result is a unique typeface which strongly evokes a peculiar pastiche mood without being any historical in the strict sense of the word. It’s all about the fun to mix ingredients and to freely create reminiscences in a new way. Rosenbaum is a typeface like a fairytale – one of a kind, strangely poetic and incredibly true at once… Use Rosenbaum for emotional typographics, for fairytale books and stories, for headings and invitations, for distinctive labels or menu cards, for Wave Gothic publishing … you will know best! Both Rosenbaum Eins and Rosenbaum Rose contain all characters needed for any European language. They both contain the same range of additional symbols and ornaments, some of them are zero-width calligraphic embellishments designed for direct combination with the letters, even inside of words.

Peachi is a serif typeface loosely based on Morris Fuller Benton’s Souvenir forms and some other serif fonts designed in the early 1900s. It has a soft look - round corners, slightly curved legs of capital K, R, V and W; and lowercase k, v, w and y. Rather heavy ball terminals and a very large x-heigh make Peachi a perfect choice for designing titles, book covers, for branding, quotes design - basically any design that needs to make an impact and to be remembered. Peachi is released in 6 weights from Thin to Black and has stylistic alternates that make it even more versatile. While the default style follows Souvenir’s trend, the alternative style looks more modern. It’s totally up to you which style to choose for your design. To access all alternates and ligatures you’ll an OpenType aware application such as Adobe Suite or MSWord. March 2021 Update: more alternates and ligatures have been added!

Fishwrapper is a three-member font family (Regular, Bold, and Italic) designed to replicate the look of authentic vintage newspaper typography. The fonts are rough and are meant to be used at newspaper sizes. All three fonts have a complete alternate alphabet built in: using the contextual alternates feature will automatically substitute alternate versions of most glyphs, so that identical characters do not appear side by side, thus helping to create the look of metal type. Fishwrapper Regular has a complete set of small caps built in.
